Ivan's bed and breakfast was the perfect place to stay while birding in Gamboa. Location was ideal and Gladys is a wonderful cook. They even provided a breakfast to go for us as we were leaving at 6am to go birding. Ivan is knowledgable about the area and the birds. Accommodations are comfortable and there is an outdoor seating area...

Ivan's is THE place to stay for birding in the Gamboa area. The rooms are delightfully clean and comfortable, Ivan is an incredibly accommodating host and his wife is a superb cook. There was not a single flaw with my stay. I am a serious birder and my days were spent hiking along Pipeline Road and visiting the Rainforest Discovery...

Ivan's was trip back in history. This former canal zone house gave us a glimpse back in time and was one of the highights of our Panama vacation. The location, right in the middle of Gamboa was terrifc, we were a five minute walk to the canal, five minute car ride to pipeline road, 10 minutes to the zoo and...

Ivan and his family proved to be welcoming and comforting in their home in Gamboa. Room was very clean and food was excellent. Gladys makes the best pancakes I have ever had. We opted for an authentic Panamanian evening meal cooked on site, and it was excellent and worth the price. Ivan came and shared dessert with us and gave...

What a lovely guy!! It is so nice to stay in a place where the owner is so attentive to your needs. Our room was huge. Everything was clean and just so welcoming. Ivan served us at dinner and then came to share his dessert with us and sat talking for an hour or so. Ivan is a gentle soul...

Our family just spent 5 wonderful days a Ivan's, and I'd highly recommend it to others. Nicely situated in Gamboa - easy walk to the Canal, the aerial tram and restaurants at the Rainforest Resort, Pipeline Road (for birdwatching), the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute facilities, the tienda and various fondas, etc. The bedrooms (we stayed upstairs in rooms #3 and...

My wife and I wanted to go bird watching at the Pipeline Road, but we wanted to sleep in Gamboa instead of driving early from Panama City so I booked a room at Ivan's after having read about his B & B in Lonely Planet. We got there late but Ivan was there to greet us and show us the...

My husband and I spent a wonderful three nights at Ivans. Ivan was incredibly friendly, saved us from the elements twice (hint - do print out the map from the website or you'll never find it, and don't go out in the afternoons during rainy season!!) and was a wealth of information about the local area, history, wildlife and Panama...

We stayed several nights at Ivan's. The price is not bad, but the cost of the add-on meal is ridiculous for what you get. Eat at the resort; it is less expensive and better food. Additionally, he over prices for anything you want extra, beer, water, internet, etc. At times we felt as if he did not want us there....

We stayed for 3 nights in April 2012. and it was wonderful. Ivan and his family are wonderful hosts and very friendly. Ivan is an excellent bird guide/naturalist for the local area. His wife, the cook, kept us well-fed with delicious breakfasts and dinners. Other options for eating in Gamboa are very limited. Centrally located one is at the Pipeline...
