I've booked this hotel for an easter weekend, because it's very near to Czech Switzerland National Park, which is (in my opinion) a must-visit if you're in the area. Really bautiful nature.

The hotel is supposed to be 4 star. After our stay we (me and my wife) just agreed that the single word, which can describe this hotel is NEGLIGENCE. I'm not really a nitpicker, I've been in some 4 star hotels before and the overall facilities of this one add up. Problems were in little things here and there and there was just too much of them, which resulted in a bad impression. If you want details, carry on reading. Otherwise in short: I suggest to look for a better rated place in the area.

THE ROOM
The hotel has plenty of parking places and the receptionist was nice and gave us a good briefing. After using the old, slow elevator (I saw was refered in other reviews here), we decided to take stairs for the rest of our stay :) The room, which we later found out was the biggest on the floor, seemed nice, well designed with combination of red carpet and black seating furniture and darker brown colour of other furniture. The dark furniture only has that one problem, you can see dust very well on it. The bed had quite hard mattresses, but we slept very well. The bathroom was quite a let down, though. It was kind of ugly and underequipped compared to the rest of the room. The bathtub had no curtain, the lights were dim and the ventilation system was connected to the motion sensor, so it was going on and off until you left the room...
My first steps were to check out the contents of our minibar fridge, which I found plugged out of the socket. I plugged it in and found out why it was that way - very noisy. I set it to a lower setting and it was just fine then. The contents though were poor and I would not drink the wine stored in it, because it looked it had been there for a while (+in a vertical position and the fridge possibly beeing plugged in/out). I noticed some orange juice bottles were expired with something soggy on the bottom, which triggered my attention and I started to move around the room more watchfuly. In the cabinet just by the fridge i found 2 pairs of someones socks with a lot of dust. The floral design was "interesting" too (see photos) and the curtain which separates the main room and bedroom was hiding a not-finished socket and switch with wires out (other rooms on the floor just had 1 room as we found out from looking on the fire safety instructions). There were plenty of framed pictures on the walls, which was pretty, but on a second look we found out it was only 3 same motives in different iterations :) They should also vacuum under the bed. That was simply gross what I saw under there.
The LCD tv was not a big one, but in a good state, working, with a almost all czech channels and 5 german (including a free Hustler pornTV, which was mentioned as a main plus in most Foursquare tips :) ).

THE RESTAURANT
The hotel restaurant is just by the main lobby and looks nice and comfortable, with a nice view of the garden/park outside. The service was poor, though. The waiter answered our greeting, but our expectations, that we will be seated wasn't met and we just had to choose the place ourselves. There were 3 waiters going around, picking up dishes from other tables etc. (restaurant was half-full), they all answered to the greeting, but no one offered us anything. They all looked like hotel school students on a training. Finaly after 5 minutes one waitress came with a laminated paper with a list of food. We had a 2 course dinner included in our hotel package, so I guess we didn't get a full menu. The choice was very limited and we couldn't eg. pick a different side dish. The wine we chose from a wine list was nice, with the exact temperature and the server (different from the others) knew her stuff.
My wife had italian linguine with basil pesto and vegetables, only they forgot about the basil pesto, so it was quite dry :) The pasta should have been cooked a little bit more to be al-dente at least. Some pieces of it looked they were sticking out of the water, because they were not cooked at all and thuss crunchy. We were hungry, so she denied returning it. My beef ragu with mashed potatoes was fine, although I'm not calling it gastronomic experience either.
The interior of the restaurant had the same problem as the room on a closer look - after you started looking around (when waiting for service), you noticed things, which require just a little attention and effort to be fixed and everything would be fine (Except the big ventilation tubes just right below the nice wooden ceiling with chrystal chandeliers). The boxes with decorating flowers with it's contents scattered around require just a little effort to get right. I guess the first thing is, someone must want to...

THE WELLNESS
We had 50 minutes in wellness cellar in our package - it consisted of a whirlpool and a dry sauna. It was clean, although they might change the decoration curtains on the ceiling, because they were very dusty and contained dead insects. The whirlpool missed one of it's head pillows and the shower trays were rusty by the drain hole. Again - overall it seems nice, but needs some effort to maintain it on a good quality level.

I´ve spent a romantic weekend in this hotel. This hotel is fine, rooms are nic, comfortable and clean. Hotel restaurant looks very good and also the cuisine is fine. There is also small wellness (sauna + whirlpool). What is PERFECT is breakfast.
I can reccommand this hotel.

Apparently the only hotel in a town of no great touristic interest ... it is the centre of the glass industry in that part of the country

PRO:
- easy to find just at the entrance of the small town, on the first roundabout
- parking easy but not plentiful
- restaurant huge but could not get into due to a convention ... had to eat at the bar ...
- food more than ok
- price reasonable
- staff mostly friendly and nice

CON:
- room was fairly basic, bed quite uncomfortable, narrow and too hard
- bathroom of the early sixties ....
- small TV, was surprised to find a hard porn channel on free viewing ... no problem to me but would not particularly like that small kids see it
- staff not always fluent in English had problem in getting a fork and knife ...

I spent two nights at this hotel and while the basics are fine, the finishing touches are just not there and it really does not stack up as a four star hotel.

The rooms are small but clean with relatively small beds and a tiny TV. I believe there may have been an English channel but the satellite system was clearly not working as there was no picture for the two nights that I stayed there. Thus only local Czech TV was available. Irritatingly, the wifi did not work properly and kept dropping everywhere in the hotel except in the lobby.

Service in the hotel restaurant was extremely poor and the waitrons had quit an attitude!

The hotel is well situated and the surroundings very scenic. This is the only reason I would return! As a business hotel it is really not suitable and they really need to improve standards if they wish to attract foreign tourists.

We visited this hotel in 2013 for a weekend (with wellness procedures). I would like to say this hotel is not a wellness hotel. Their cosmetic and spa services are very poor. They don´t know how to make good procedures, they even don´t know what it means.
Only positive in this hotel is restaurant. Quite good if you know you are in a small town near borders. Very poor if you expect juice (at least concentrate) for breakfast. You will get just some disgusting mixture made from artficial color+water and sugar.
The hotel is old, furniture is old, service is old, manager is old. If you want to get older in a few days, visit this hotel :)

I have not stayed in the hotel for some years. So I cannot comment on the amenities in the rooms. However I have been dining in the restaurant section periodically, and will write my review based on that.
The Hotel is conveniently located in the city center, and part of it is a historic building, which creates a nice front for the hotel. Originally there used to be a Russian fighter jet parked in front of the building, until it was removed to the aircraft museum some years back. The buildings are used to function as a preschool for little children until it was purchased and restored, and then turned into a hotel.

The food selection is colorful and will please almost every pallet. It offers steak, fish, pasta, and you can choose what site you wish to have your meal served with. I have invited my family to come and dine in with my husband and I for our last dinner together.

My dad ordered pork loin, with french fries. My mom ordered from the children's menu creamy pasta with chicken, but in adult size full dish. I never satisfied granny or that it also from the children's menu, the fried, breaded cutlet of chicken, with french fries and instead of ketchup she asked for mayo. My husband and I, we both ordered the chicken breast steak, with creamy spinach, served with bread basket. To wash all of that down we asked for two large jugs of water, and beer.

I have to say that the food served was pleasing to the eyes. And was perfectly cooked. The meet was not dry, quite the opposite. It was very juicy, and well flavored. The pastor was creamy, and well seasoned. The portion for each of the meals was very generous. Enough to satisfy the men in our party, and the most testy and unsatisfying person among us, granny. The staff was very patient, helpful, and attentive. They made a great effort to come out in to the garden periodically, to check on us, to make sure that we are not lacking anything.

Generally speaking the restaurant inside and out but was very clean, and beautifully furnished. The tables where glass top and had been put under large umbrellas, to shade the diners from the sun, and protect them from rain.

The restrooms where down stairs, but the not very conveniently located, they were clean, and easy to fine. The receptionist was friendly, and helpful.

The hotel is first class for a small town like this one, and would do well even if it was in a bigger town. I did stay in the hotel some years back, and will say that the rooms are well furnished, door a bit small. Most of the rooms have a small private balcony that is looking into the parking lot, and the residential neighborhood.

I definitely recommend visiting the restaurant. And would recommend staying in the hotel.

There are few places in this part of the world where the beds and bathrooms are so clean and comfortable. Set in a nice garden near the centre of Novy Bor, safe parking and helpful staff make this the best hotel in town. The breakfast bar is good enough for the price, the restaurant lively and pleasant. The dark reception with dusty glass sculptures is slightly off-putting on arrival, but this is quickly made up for by the helpfulness and warm welcome. The wi-fi is a bit patchy, the TV only Czech, which was surprising in a hotel of this calibre.

Very cozy and carefully designed hotel with welcoming and 100% helpful staff. This is a wellness hotel with a spa, sauna and salt cave. You can enjoy many procedures, restaurant on site (meal was great, breakfast could be richer with vegetables), free wi-fi, spacious rooms (ours was big enough and nicely decorated), many places to park... However, no swimming pool here. And not really suitable for small children.

My stay was here for 6 days, Novy Bor is a small town with shopping malls in near vicinity of this property, some restaurants, and noiseless environment.
Breakfast is OK, with lot of options.
We didn't took dinner in six days because of our food preference.
Check in and checkout process is really very quick, staff is really efficient and cooperative.
