It has all the characteristics of a classic English country pub but the welcome is slightly lacking and not as warm as it should be- it is perhaps the dark decor. The menu has some interesting dishes e.g. roast kid. There is plenty of variety to suit different tastes, notably main course salads and fish-brill and hake. All pleasant enough.

This is a beautiful pub in a fantastic location. A party of us booked on recommendation from the people we had booked our stay with. We pre-ordered and had a lovely table in a bright area (the place is very dark). The wine wasn't great and was pricey. Sunday lunch is acceptable, although it could be much improved for the...

I've visited the wild duck twice in recent weeks and will look to return. The pub's focus is on the restaurant (its worth booking in advance), so limited places to sit inside for a drink on a weekend evening, whilst the pub is busy it hasn't felt overcrowded. It is a characterful and quirky building which is what I look...

We decided to return to The Duck as it has been taken over by new owners. We've visited many times in the past and the meals were always very good. This time however the food was poor with terrible service. The kitchen staff came out to serve with their dirty white jackets on and we didn't get our wine until...

Serves bar snacks and has an adjoining restaurant area. The inn has a different character to the usual country inns. The interior styling and supper menu is designed to look slightly upmarket. There is a warm atmosphere. Service is good. Although the choice of menu was not vast and no specials were on offer, the food was generally of good...

We drove down for the evening to the beautiful Cotswolds and returned after many years absence to the Wild Duck. Not too much has changed still dark and oldie worldy. We had a good sized table for four and our orders were quickly taken. We ordered wine from an extensive list . We all had starters, I went for the...

Dropped in for an early dinner 6.30 on Easter Saturday. We were firstly astounded by a bar stuffed full of people talking and not drinking, cramped together in a very dark room..... weird. Our food was poor to average, risotto inedible though my steak pie was much better. Waitress was very efficient though our bill was vastly inflated on first...

The experience was spoiled by the 12.5% Service Charge (plus VAT) added to the bill and then an invitation to add a further gratuity! The Wild Duck is a pub not a West End Restaurant. The new owners are clearly making an effort to please their customers but I will not be hurrying to return

Came here for a necessarily dry business lunch on Thursday, liked it so much came back for lunch on Sunday. Excellent range of local and not so local beers. Tried the former as real ale beer doesn't travel well. Both days had the pea and ham hock soup (actually more of a stew) that was served with soda bread and...

A sister restaurant to The Wheatsheaf Inn in Northleach, we expected great things, but service was weary, as they had had a long day serving for Mother's Day and half the menu was not available. The food was OK, but my crumble was cold. Great looking pub, but rather a let down.
