Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is a bit old, but maintained well. The room is spacious and its just fine, although a few improvement can increase the convenience of the guest. The hotel also located beside Queensbay Mall. The breakfast foods are almost the same day to day, but it taste well. The hotel also near the airport, only 10 or 20 minutes off peak hours. Its a nice stay overall

I booked Eastin Penang because of my client referral. FO was very unprofessional and charged MYR 20 extra per night, more than the confirmed rate via email. FO couldn’t complete the payment with my Amex credit card and insisted I pay in cash. My room key was deactivated twice during my 4-night stay. I was asked to carry my luggage during check-in and check-out. Wow, what a service!!! Finally, I check-out on 10th March at 7:40 AM, 4 hours and 20 minutes earlier than my standard check-out, and settled the final bill in cash. It is evident that money matters a lot for Eastin Penang and not a “Customer-Centric” service approach. Hence, it is highly impossible to revisit this hotel or even to recommend it to someone. In order to evaluate the standards of Eastin, I have decided to stay in Eastin Kuala Lumpur to assess and see whether the services are in accordance with customer-centric and booked for two nights and paid in full online, check-in 10th and Check-out 12th

Dear Mr. Kyatham, We have received your review and have taken note of your displeasure with our services rendered during your last stay with us here at Eastin Hotel Penang. We carried out a very thorough investigation into the matter and would like to present our findings to you. 1. Additional RM20 charged The original booking made was to check in on 6 March 2023 and check out on 13 March 2023. You were given a special long-stay rate of RM364+ which included breakfast and laundry privileges. However, upon check-in, you requested to reduce your duration of stay to 10 March 2023 instead. Our colleague Faisal reconfirmed this with you and highlighted that in light of this reduction, the special long-stay rate will no longer be valid. He then accorded you the corporate rate of RM384+. This was highlighted to your good self and it was subsequently accepted. Faisal then proceeded to complete your check-in process. 2. Issue with Amex Card Upon request for payment, you chose to pay with your Amex card. However, the system would not clear the transaction and it came up as “Do Not Honour”. At this point, Faisal did ask if you had any other card to use, which you voluntarily offered to pay by cash instead! As you had only USD with you, Faisal advised that we would have to convert this to MYR at the exchange rate provided, to which you agreed. 3. Completion of the check-in process As your check-in was almost done, Faisal continued to brief you about the meal venues and your ease of access to and from your room. You then left for your room with your luggage. Unfortunately, the concierge staff was unable to assist you at that time as he was already engaged with another guest. We do apologize for any inconvenience caused. Mr Kyatham, please accept our apologies if the services rendered were not up to your expectation but we need to highlight that our staff conducted himself superbly and offered you the best service experience we have constantly tried to achieve and deliver to our guests. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, I was traveling to Penang several times a year for business. Unfortunately, the hotel that I always stayed at did not survive the effects of long-term travel restrictions. I had known about the Eastin Hotel for years, but had never stayed there. Frankly speaking, a lot of the online reviews I had read did not give me a very good impression. However, as travel resumed, I needed to find a new place for my Penang visits so I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. Being a short walk from Queensbay Mall makes the location ultra-convenient, but the hotel had many other good points as well. The front desk staff were friendly. Check-in was pleasant and efficient. My room was spacious, with a comfortable bed, a work desk, and a small fridge stocked with some complimentary beverages. The lighting was good and it seemed like the room may have been recently refurbished as everything seemed fairly new. The breakfast buffet had a large variety of delicious items. My expectations were exceeded and I will stay at the Eastin again next time I'm in Penang.

This is my 2nd time staying in this hotel. The staff consistently delivering top-notch hospitality services over and over again. The hotel is out of town which I prefered. Out of jam area and a quiet place. It a distance from all the attractions but it not so bad if you have a car to drive around the island. Parking is free. Just a hassle that you have to validate ur touchngo or debit card each time you leave the hotel. They have 2 venues for breakfast. One at the main lobby with more varieties (one of the best varieties of breakfast I had seen so far) . Another at executive Lodge with less varieties but more privacy. I find that this is an excellent arrangement to avoid people's having to queue up going in for breakfast and food not sufficient for everyone. If I am on business trip, I would prefer the executive lodge which have more privacy and I don't really need to stuff myself with food before going to office. They provide tea time at executive Lodge if you don't feel like going out. I have no complaint staying in this hotel and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to my friends and colleagues whenever I have the opportunity to.

Let me start by saying, this is the first time I have written a review on a lounge in a long time. Prior to my arrival I checked with the hotel to find out if the lounge was open. When I found out it just opened again, I was excited but at the same time reserved on what I could expect. I must say my expectations were exceeded!! That's because of your staff manning the area. In the mornings I had my breakfast with Umer and after the first couple of days he learned what my regular order was, and he was prepared to serve me. He told me he was in training, but I could not really tell as he did a great job each day. Now when it came to the evening cocktails, I have to say I was always Impressed with Rosalyn and Arthur! I am an Elite Marriott Member and I usually always stay at the Marriott as a loyal customer, but in Penang I tried the Marriott, and I was not impressed. As an elite member I was allowed to go to the club they have there, but the drinks were limited and there was no food. I must admit, your humble setup blows them away! When I am in Penang the Eastin Hotel has my business! As for Rosalyn and Arthur I cannot say enough about how personalized their service was. You have a couple of great employees there and I was treated fantastically. Please convey my thanks to them for all the hard work. They may have been wearing a mask, but I could tell behind that mask they were always smiling! Now no review would be complete without a bit of criticism. The first thing I would say is the evening food was very predicable to say the least. It would be nice if you could work in some more selections. Lastly, I noted you have a lot of magazines in the lounge but most of them are for men. It Would be nice if you could add some more selections for ladies especially fashion magazines would be great. Again, that you got some great service and I look forward to seeing everyone during my next visit in November. Cheers Tammy

pretty tired and average hotel. limited food choices, room service stops at 10:30 and the staff are doing their job, but they are not trying to wow the guests. there are far nicer hotels for the same price. would I stay here again, probably not, but maybe if I needed to be in the area. its not a bad hotel, just not a great one either

Just an average business hotel that located close to the industry area and near to airport. Booked for double room but was given twin room instead! Strong damp smell from the carpet the moment entering the room. Decent room size for one person, might not have enough space if two person staying with luggage. My colleague was locked in the toilet because the door knob spoilt. She can't open the toilet door and luckily she has her mobile phone with her and contacted me for help. Otherwise she will be locked inside for god knows how long. Anyway, the hotel also took a while to broke into her room and get her out. Very poor maintenance from the hotel in this case and I couldn't imagine if elderly guests being locked inside the toilet. The only thing I like about the hotel is the breakfast with good variety and tasty food.

Stayed here for 5 nights in April and 3 nights in August. Conveniently located near the airport and best of all, Queensbay Mall which is just a stone throw away -a major shopping mall that can satisfy your shopping and dining. Room was generally comfortable and clean. The only down side I thought was that the windows are not very well sound-insulated. Hence if you are a light sleeper, please do not get the rooms facing the main road.

ii checked in today 6th august in eastin hotel penang, room no 902, after a day trip from kl, i arrived at the property nearly at 6pm and requested for a reasonable late check out 2pm on the next day at the reception counter handle by a said trainee, she said she will check and revert . nothing happens till 11 night - i call the receptionist and the same trainee girl answered me like robot - that the property has 100% occupancy fill on 7th august and ask me to leave the room at 12pm no courtesy to extend for a reasonable request to check out at 2pm .
