Very friendly staff. We arrived very late, but that was no problem our key was waiting for us at the reception area with a personal note. Thank you very much for that. The rooms might need some refurbishment as some things show signs of wear. Also cleaning could be done more thorougly (dirt below the beds, dirty dripping rack for dishes). But as it was only an overnight stay, it did not bother us. Value for money.
We stayed for one night after driving down through France on a euro road trip and the road up to the property and the views are amazing. We had our pet dog with us and arranged the booking ahead to ensure no problems. The place was almost empty in early May so we didn’t really get a feel for the place as the bar, lounge and dining areas were empty. We did have a couple of beers and and burger and chips though and sat outside to eat so we could take in the mountain views. The girl on reception wasn’t the liveliest and if you don’t speak French you may have to improvise a little like I did! Overall a nice pit stop after a long drive and it’s all about the views really!!
Good rooms and well equipped kitchen. Nice views of mountains. Large parking area free of cost Small ski station Plaine joux is 3 km from the hotel. However nothing else around so the place is food for a getaway or a gathering with friends or group.
This was our third stay at Residence Le Fontenay Mont Blanc. A beautiful property far away from the city in quiet and beautiful area. This is a great place to stay in any season. The area is great for skiers or nature lovers.
Staff here are very hospitable. Breakfast and dinner are excellent. If you have a car, this would be an excellent choice to stay, Taxi one way from chamonix would be around 60-70 eur, weekends will be higher.
Practical and good room for price, great food, excellent and helpful staff members. Suitable for all ages, great walking in the area and wonderful views. Parking safe and free, elevator to rooms. Up the mountain but worth the drive.
Five of us stayed in a family room and it was HOT outside (90F at least). I contacted the hotel because it had no AC and we were worried we would be roasting. They were so nice - got us a fan, cooled the room for us, etc. Turned out it cooled down a bit overnight as they told us it would so it wasn't too bad. Any other time I'm sure the temps wouldn't be an issue. We had a lovely meal at the restaurant outside looking at the view. It wasn't gourmet but the price was excellent, the food was tasty and the chocolate cake was crazy yummy. Our beds were comfortable. It was nice to have a small kitchen. It would have been neat to use the fireplace but, as I said, it was really hot. :) Because the hotel sits by itself, it's a curvy drive to get to town, but it only takes a couple of minutes. Highly recommended. Room 303…
The welcome was very warm as soon as we arrived. We booked a self contained apartment for 3 adults and 2 dogs. The apartment was massive! Full sized kitchen, living and dining room as well as 3 large ensuite bedrooms. The apartment was clean and tidy. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant, which I have to say was brilliant! I am a vegetarian and the chef managed to cater for this. The breakfast was also equal to any 5 star hotel. We have no idea why this gem of a hotel doesn't have a higher rating.... We loved our stay & would return again.
Stayed here as a overnight stopover before continuing onto Italy. The room we stayed in managed to fit all of my family (6) in the same room the beds were comfy and room layout perfect for what we needed. The Gentleman on the front desk was extremely helpful especially when making reservations for dinner the food was limited but great quality. Overall an awesome place and views to absolutely die for.
This delightful unpretentious hotel high in the Alps is ideal for relaxing, walking in the extensive forests, and cycling up testing hills. In the winter it is ideal for skiing and other winter pursuits. A quiet peaceful area with only the ski lift at the back of the hotel.
