We have visited this family run hotel several times- and feel we prefer it in Winter to Summer. The rooms are very comfortable and the food is varied and always interesting. Many things to do for all ages- we spend 5 days there usually. They will pick you up from the Airport and drop you there on the way home. It is a totally stress- free holiday and well recommended. All kinds of winter sports are catered for and trips to Innsbruck on the bus are free with the Welcome Card supplied by the Innsbruck Tourist office via the hotel automatically. Being only 2 hours flight time away from London and a not too busy airport makes it an ideal location.

The hotel is fine. It is all very new and clean with good services, nice breakfast and very good dinner. The last two with ample choices and variation. One evening, there is was live entertainment with local music and dance. There is also the opportunity for kids to join an entertainment program. This is badly organised. Especially the organisation of the “sleeping in the hay”. I was really shocked to find out the next day that they hadn’t enough sleeping bags and my kid of 8 years old “slept” together with another girl in an open barn without sleeping bag or blanket with an outside temperature of around 12 degrees C. And that while the hotel was less than 1 min away. Even more surprised to find out that the responsible guy was somehow unwilling to find a solution during the night and even lied multiple times about it when I asked the next day how this could happen (which irritated me badly). I would expect when you trust your kids in the hands of a recommended hotel it is all good organised and that they take their responsibility and know what they are doing. Unfortunately, the opposite was true. Although apology’s were made I find this irresponsible and irrational behaviour really impacting and shadowing the stay and the rating of the hotel which was otherwise good.

We spent a few days in this old-style lovely family hotel with nice garden, outstanding Austrian hospitality, a homely atmosphere, and many options for outdoor activities, and entertainment for kids. An accomodation that is really family friendly and provides good entertainment for kids and parents as well at high standard. Roof sauna area is small but nice with excellent mountain view. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Picturesque spot in a valley surrounded by high mountains with georgeous view to snowy mountain peaks. Cons: shared balcony, broken reading lamps, no night light in room

Comfortable spacious room with a balcony offering the most stunning mountain views. Local Tyrolean food and eco-friendly ethos . Very friendly helpful staff. The perfect winter break. Bus stop outside hotel takes you to Innsbruck, Seefeld and Telfs. A bus pass allows free movement on the Postbus and Skibus. It also gives you access to tourist guides - Innsbruck old town; a snowshoe walk ; a lantern walk 9with mulled wine and musicians0 and chairlift at Seefeld.

We were delighted to return after 7 years with a large and loud group of family and friends. 4 Kids, 4 Teens and 4 Adults tested Réne and his fantastic team to the maximum and they passed effortlessly. Space in the apartments was generous, even with teenage make-up and clothes. Bathrooms newly renovated to a high standard. The food was as good as we remembered with a lovely Gala Dinner on Christmas Eve with international hymns, poetry and stories. The wellness area is charming and a serene place to enjoy peace and quiet with a good book. The little ski-area in Obsteig was perfect for the little ones while the teenagers headed up to the glacier to explore pistes in Hochoetz returning home happy, hungry and exhausted. A holiday enjoyed by all.

We visited Landhotel Stern as 2 families on a short break. A 500 year old Tyrolean Inn which has been in the same family for that time - Rene and his team work tirelessly to ensure that everyone has the best stay possible. We booked through Jules Verne and the hotel handled the transfers from and to Innsbruck. The food was fabulous and the rooms were comfortable. With a wonderful program of activities including a lantern walk through the forest, this was a winter treat which will not be forgotten!

We had lunch, Wiener schnitzel, which was fine. Quick service and quick billing with okay prices. However we could not get any salad besides the salat in the buffet, which did not look so delicious. A very charming place, especially sitting outside.

The hotel is ok located on a big highway running through to Germany. The setting in the valley is nice, the rooms are adequate and clean, food and children's program are decent. The service is very consistent in being extremely rude. From the lady at reception to the wait staff, downright nasty and unhelpful. We would not recommend this hotel, there are plenty of nicer places in Austria with friendlier staff. Give this place a hard pass.

Dear Soller2, Thanks for your honest words, but I am really wondering what happened. I would be happy, if you could write us an email in order to understand what happened. Without a direct feedback (ideally on place) we can't make your stay better (and I am sure we would have done it better) and enhance our service. Best regards, Rene

The waiter was really rude when I am normally so kind to the staff because I work as a waiter myself. He wouldnt explain something on the menu and you had to grab your drinks and plates out of his hands because he wouldnt just serve you. Meanwhile he was making rude jokes and asking for tip. He forgot the meal for my mother and never explained or said sorry. The food was so bad and not cheap. The ‘nudeln from the oven’ was in fact just halfcold nudeln served in a cold pan to make you believe like it was baked in the oven. The boiled potatoes tasted like boiled carrots like they use the same water. The mixed grill was like a odd-shaped mini kids hotdog with a slice of thin bacon? Everything was really weird. Next time I rather buy a sandwich at the gasstation.

Dear Laura, I just read your review and feel very sorry. I am wondering very much, because we really try to do our best. Of course there can be a problem once, but it shouldn't be this overall impression. Sorry! Now it is difficult for me to change anything, because I can't reproduce what happened (when, who, ...). The easiest would be to let us know immediately - because then we can do an effort to make up our mistake. And we would be happy to do so, because it is our passion to be a good host. We are sorry! Rene

I have just returned to UK from my fourth stay at Hotel Stern and, as always, it was fantastic. The hotel is so cosy/clean, the staff friendly/helpful, the location for visiting Innsbruck, or walking/skiing is perfect, and the cuisine is as good as anything I eat at some of London's better restaurants. Although, I am solo, Hotel Stern is wonderful for families as there is so much for children to do, and I look forward to returning for my fifth visit.
