We had a weekend stay at Mangala resort , together with 2 more families of friends. In total 6 adults and 7 teenagers/kids
We stayed together at the Villa Bungalow which can comfortably accommodate everyone.
With the convenience of having a big private pool we spent most of our time at the villa. Only going once at the restaurant. We had direct contact with concierge via whatsapp and we could order room service or asking for additional towels when needed. Reply (from Maujie) was pretty fast.

Although with limited choice at the restaurant (due to COVID restrictions)the food was good. Congratulations to the chef.

To improve :
- Housekeeping: not enough towels and amenities (we had to ask) and no room cleaning service
- Possibly more activities (e.g. golf chip & putting or mini driving range)

Overall good stay and supportive staff, maybe a bit overwhelmed by full occupancy.

Spent 3 unforgettable days at the lakeside Jala Villa here with my wife. The place was beautiful, and its upkeep was impeccable.

The view from our room was breathtaking…our bed looked out directly to a serene lake—schools of fish in the water, chirping birds flying overhead. A perfect place to relax and unwind. To be close to nature.

There were other villas along the lakeshore. But they were designed to offer reasonable privacy.

We were lucky to check in a day after a busy long-weekend. Had the entire resort to ourselves (well, almost)! We got to pick the time for our meals without worrying if the restaurant would be busy. We took long walks around the resort’s beautiful grounds (stopping frequently for photos) without worrying about getting in the way of others.

The staff members were, without exception, friendly and helpful…going out of their way to accommodate our requests. Teh tarik wasn’t on the menu (only Boh tea bags). So, Safirul from F&B volunteered to make us a cup. “Extra hot, please,” requested my wife. It was—and delicious too. Ira from Recreation volunteered to be our photographer. Took us on a buggy to some of the more interesting and less visited parts of the resort too.

Meals were pricey, but of generous portions and appropriate quality. We paid for a room package that included breakfasts and dinners and it was good value for money. Gambang town is a 10-minute drive away, so we had our lunches in restaurants there. Simple local fares, convenient, nothing fancy.

We chatted with a few staff members. Some were new. Others, like Safirul, had joined the resort since its inception, “…when these tall trees were mere bushes,” he pointed out. He was happy to give us useful information too—like food we should not miss while in Pahang (Lemang Periuk Kera), and the best place to buy durians (Batu Tiga on way to Kuantan).

We had marked Mangala Resort as a one-time visit. Now we’re thinking of coming back again next year.

I was staying for 2 nights during RMCO period in July and overall we were quite happy about it especially the services. We booked Amani Villa with pool and the room it was superb! Spacious and clean. The bathroom is as big as the room size, came with bathtub with view. The hotel is located in the middle of Palm field so you can totally feel the completely away from urban area and close to the nature. Do go for the recreation activities such as Kayaking and Cycling. The downside probably was the food options as you need to drive out quite a distance in order to find some restaurants. The resort is situated in Gambang where going to take 45mins to reach Kuantan so do plan for your itinerary if you want to visit somewhere else. I would also suggest grab some snacks/drinks etc from nearby convenient store like 7-11 prior the arrival as you need that if you are staying in a private pool villa. Please do note that there will be no SPA services throughout the RMCO period. Overall, it was great experience and I would recommended for it.

After long hours of working and driving to the resort, I was really looking forward for my weekend vacation with the entire family. Upon arrival at 8 pm with nobody to welcome us at the entrance, I was told by the receptionist that our room wasn’t ready. Looking at his tired face, I decided to give him a break and told I would return in an hour after dinner to collect my room key card. No additional informations were offered about the resort so I just read whatever flyers they left there.

I was then asked to wait for the buggy at the entrance. Just waive one if we see one, that’s the whole concept I guess. Once arrived at our villa, it was very dark with no functioning lights along the pathway. The villa was not kept clean or well maintained. I could see the dust piling on the cabinet, strands of hair stuck between the stones around bath area, and so much more. The sink was clogged and the water heater wasn’t functioning. They did come to reset the heater system and yet the same thing recurred.

I thought long and hard about writing a review. But when there was no housekeeping done on my second day, I was really upset. Never have I been to a resort/hotel with no service at all on the second day! There was no replenishment too. With the limited towels provided, 4 mineral waters, 2 pods of coffee, small bins, we had to use whatever we had in the room to last for 3 days. A rat even entered my parents’ room!

To make matters worst, our key card didn’t work on the second day. With a baby in tow and was sleeping at the time, I had to sit outside of my room while trying to reach the front office via phone. They came and checked and I had to wait again for them to return with a new one.

I feel sad as the resort has so much potential. We didn’t get to try most activities. There was nobody to assist us even when we wanted to rent the bicycles. I had to walk to my villa as trying to get a buggy was almost impossible at times. Upon walking up the hill, I saw a couple walking towards the lobby with their hands full. They carried all luggages on their own.

Luckily I paid for a cheaper price for the 2 nights we stayed as I booked via Agoda. Should I pay for the normal price, I would’ve demanded for a refund and would stay elsewhere. My suggestion is that if you’re understaffed, please limit the bookings. It seems that you can’t manage it yet after MCO. Train them well in the hospitality department. I hope your service will improve for the upcoming guests.

Poor food menu selection and the spaghetti is bad
Serve breakfast in the restaurant but not in the room until much negotiation
At night they don’t serve at their restaurant but in the room. I just don’t understand this weird arrangement
Never do housekeeping with reason lack of staff which is nonsensical
We were so tired had to wait for them to finish housekeeping late night despite reminder.
They took such a long time and open the door for us to be bitten by mosquitoes
Took a long time For them to pass us our beach towel At the pool
Bath Hot water not working
Archery damaged but never change

Bicycles gear all damaged never bother upgrading or repairing

Poorly managed .

I had high hopes for this resort and it's at the top price point for Malaysian hotels. We drove from KL (maybe 3 hrs) and told the hotel we'd be late. Arriving and hungry we asked for room service info? No room service after 10pm and the nearest food outlet was by a toll station about 6km away. Hardly a 5 star service. Plus no one to help you with bags from the car park to receptions, a long walk. In fairness, front of house staff were helpful and attentive but clearly limited in what they could offer.

A buggy ride to the rooms revealed really nice grounds, and a nondescript room. The pool was dirty with green slime on the lower part, the airconditioning leaked water all night and the whole room felt old and tired, even though it's the newest on site. Maybe the dull brown decor. Bed and bedding were very comfortable and the bathroom is HUGE! Overall a good nights sleep but it could have been a motel room anywhere for all the character it's got.

Breakfast was a shambles, no tea other than in a big urn with a tap, and staff who really didn't understand whaty was going on. Food was basic and at this price point, spectacularly uninviting.

A long drive for a pretty average stay with a high price. As someone else has said, they need to go and see how some other resorts in Malaysia deliver, especially the one in Banjaran. Sadly, Mangala is a very long way off that standard.

Me and wife just spent our weekend celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary there. We were excited on this short breakaway since RMCO lockdown was lifted to spend some quality time together. We love the location for the privacy, however we were so disappointed that with such highend resort & spa but operating by low class management. There was no welcome drink unlike when they were just launched few years back, there was no proper briefing to guests of the RMCO SOP as ALL the recreational activities were cancelled until we checked with the front desk. The villa we stayed, oh my godness... power failured / tripped few times a day as certain lightings cannot be switching on together. The speed of ceiling fan was either off or maximun, the hair dryer is not working, the bath tube was always full of leafs where the housekeeping don't even bother to look into solutions for it. All the 'rectification' works only taking place after we ring up and complained. Oh yes, the food at the lakeside restaurant, thank godness we did not book for our candle light dinner for our celebrations. It was totally not worth of what you paying for. Most travellers there eat outside of the resort (just couple of KMs where you found alot of good yummy food). Sorry to say, this is the WORSE experience I ever travelled/stayed before and now, I need to do the 'damage control' for my wedding anniversary. :(

Stayed for 2 nights at Amani Villa which came with a private pool and lush greenery. Check in was smooth and the staff helped with the luggage upon arrival. Within 10 mins we were ferried to our room in the buggy. The villa is pretty clean but the pool wasn't given dried leaves and sand settlement were not cleared. There is a deck chair but do ask the cover which was not in room. The amenities were good quality but the towels do feel worn out(not very white). There are free snacks and drinks for the minibar and coffee capsules for a quick cuppa. Channels on TV is limited. There is a lack of drying rack and hooks are only in the bathroom. Lack of privacy as adjacent unit is quite close. Partner does not like the huge pillow and bed was not super comfy compared to W brand. Service was excellent and attentive. For breakfast, the variety was adequate but could do more like youtiao for porridge and not ayam merah every day. Suggest to remove the DIY soup noodles and maybe replace with roti canai or rojak station.

Hi AshL Thank you for your comments on our resort, with a lot of defined detail. We take note of the need to fine detail that our maintenance and housekeeping colleagues have some how missed out and will coach them accordingly. As we are putting a lot of emphasis into nature and wellness, we encourage our guests to go out and explore the wide expanse in our beautiful landscape and lush greens, as well as to enjoy a good massage and spa in our Spa Village, we have chosen not to offer an overly great number of TV channels lest guests forget about what is better outside the villa. Breakfast items have been added and different cuisines have also been added, with our chefs revamping the menus and constantly improving the quality of food and drinks. We certainly take note of the choice of having youtiao with porridge as well as roti canai and rojak stations. Thank you once again for taking time to write these reviews for us and we look forward to welcome you back to stay with us in the near future. Regards Andrea

Spent a great weekend at the Amani 2-room pool villa. Very comfortable, great spacious villa.

There were basic kitchen facility available but it's best that you bring your own because it does take a while for them to send to the room.

The plants kept the pool out of sight and you definitely have your own privacy within your own villa.

This place is tucked away from in the jungle and away from all the bustle of streets and cities. We had the lake side rooms, they are very private, and a large balcony for the family to enjoy the lake view and see the fished in the lake.

There are plenty of activities to keep the kids busy as well as a great infinity pool by the lake. Though they are rated as small luxury hotels, the rooms are missing the 5 star touch. They are clean - but miss the mark of being luxury.

Hello there, the spa is closed till further notice, best you call in to check the avaibility before you check in, can be dissappointed if you try your luck only when you arrived there. Breakfast is way under expectation as I can even make a better big-breakfast myself, others will be the local deshes such as laksa, nasi lemak, etc... Yup, buffet is also close till further notice that's all I knew. Good luck.

We just came back. Breakfast was a la carte but very expensive (45 rm for Nasi lemak). Same for lunch and dinner, we didn't like the food, no healthy options, only a few dishes to choose from.
