We tried to visit in September 2016 before visiting Cotopaxi, but the hostel is currently closed. If it reopens it is well located to visit the park! Instead we ended up in Hacienda San Joaquín which is just around the corner and had a room for two with simple dinner and breakfast for $20 each.

This place is just 500 meters from where the bus drop you off when going to visit the national park. Our guide that took us to the volcan recommended the place and we went there after the day trip. Another option, especially if arriving late or if raining heavily, would be to go there directly to the hotel and you...

We tried to stay at this place two years ago - it was a mess and poorly administered. We just passed by this place last week and it is obvious that the new young couple that has just taken the reins of this perfectly located hotel has mad a complete turnabout. The place has been totally redecorated. It is a...

We stayed at the hostel in 2013 as we wanted to explore Cotopaxi. After a long bus journey from Quito, the first thing we wanted to do was relax but the host constantly tried to sell us a tour to go to Cotopaxi for what we considered to be a high price. Eventually we felt pressured and went ahead with...

One of the closest hotels to Cotopaxi itself. I think that was the best part of this hostel. The rooms were expensive by Ecuador standards ($20 pp) and breakfast was not included for us. It was $6 and included one piece of bread, some butter, tea and juice. Not much compared to other places, and very pricey. We stayed in...

We did not enjoy our stay at Huagra Corral (January 2012). The room was tiny, not very clean, smelly and cold. The house is outdated and nothing was changed or refurbished since I was there in April 2007. Although the personnel was friendly, we were quite (negatively) surprised that they claimed not to have received our bank deposit. On the...

The hostel has a great atmosphere, but there was more noise than we expected from the highway, so bring ear plugs. The owner was nice and accommodating. However, bring snacks because the menu is a tad pricy and your options nearby are limted. The owner brought out a delicious warm drink, though, and didn't charge us for it. We were...

I picked this place to stay after deciding that staying closer to Cotopaxi would give us more chances of seeing the volcano if the weather was inclement. We were not disappointed! Huagra Corral is the ideal place to stay with comfortable warm beds, excellent food and friendly owners. Not much else around there so if you want a quiet friendly...

Huagra Coral House is an excellant starting point for visiting the Cotopaxi. I enjoyed the sitting areas with fireplace very much, plus you have a great view of the Cotopaxi from here. The house and rooms have a cozy atmosfear. The restaurant is good. The breakfast is included and very good. But above all I will remember the place because...
