We stayed at the Acheron Cottages for two nights while we visited the fiordland national parks and I was just floored by how nice this accommodation was! We drove up without a booking but Zed and his wife instantly made us feel very welcome. They gave us tips about the local area and even inside information about what seats to...

This has to be the best place to stay on any visit to Manapouri/Doubtful Sound. We could sit on the veranda or in the lounge admiring the superb views. The cottage is really well-equipped, the kitchen and laundry facilities being particularly good. The lounge, bedrooms and bathroom were all spacious, modern and comfortable. We regretted not having booked to stay...

We are really pleased you enjoyed your stay here folks. Thanks for the great review and with any luck you may get back someday. Just the first touches of autumn here now. Trees are starting to lose their leaves and we have had a couple of mild frosts but the days are still fine and sunny.

We stayed 2 nights here and would definitely stay again. The cottage has everything and a bit more, comfy and warm and spacious, and most importantly really clean. Great views outside so great to sit outside. We can't believe that there is any better in Manapouri. We only met Zeb and he gave us good advice on our drive upto...

We enjoyed our stay at Acheron Cottages. Ours was spacious, well equipped and comfortable, the laundry was a particular bonus. Zeb was helpful and gave us good tips about where to get the best view on the Doubtful Sound trip. The cottages are next to each other and a third is on it's way, we felt a blind in the...

What a beautiful view from the front porch! This is the place to stay, unless you prefer staying in wall-to-wall motels (like in Te Anau) over self-catering! New, spotless, comfortable and quiet - these cottages look toward Lake Manapouri and the Fiordland mountains. We used it as a base to explore the amazing Doubtful Sound, as well as to visit...

We used this cottage as a kick off point prior to a Doubtful Sound tour, and was such a lovely little place that we could have spent longer there. The hosts were very welcoming and understanding when our transport to the cottage got delayed considerably. The cottage was simple but included everything we needed, plus some nice touches like a...

We spent 3 nights at the cottages. They were large and immaculate. It was a perfect place for us although quite remote from and restaurants and supermarkets. You have to drive 20 minutes to Te Anau so unless you get food en route and are happy to self cater you need to take that into account. However its 2 minutes...

Like other reviewers, we chose Acheron for its convenient location to Pearl Harbour, and I wish we had stayed more than one night. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the cottage and its many amenities (best of all - a washer and dryer!). Another perk was that the other cottage was empty, so we had no neighbors. The...

Thanks for the great review folks. We hope you can get back sometime and stay a few more days. There is just so much to see and do in the South Island that sometimes people try to cram in too much at once. All the best Janice and Zeb

We stayed at acheron for 1 night early this month on our way to the overnight cruise on doubtful sound. What attracted me to acheron was its location on a farm and open spaces. We chose to stay one night at Acheron Cottages as part of our honeymoon due to their location just up the hill from Pearl Harbour, the departure point for our planned overnight cruise of Doubtful Sound.
