We wanted somewhere not too expensive, with a family room or interconnected rooms. Also wanted a pool and somewhere charming in the Dordogne region for a base for canoeing with young children and visiting caves etc. The hotel rooms are quite basic but perfect for what we needed. The country charm with a pool and swings near an outdoor restaurant...

We were staying in a gite in the village and had booked to eat here on the evening of our arrival - we were a party of six. The surroundings are simple but the outside restaurant area was very busy which in my view always bodes well although in the basis this was the only eating establishment for some distance...

Had a super meal at this charming restaurant...on my husbands birthday. Completely surprised that friends had asked for a birthday "gateau" and it came complete with candles and Happy Birthday serenaded by the Chef himself....accompanied by other guests !!! Lovely friendly atmosphere....would definitely recommend if you are in the area....

Our third visit, this time we stayed at Chastrusse for 2 weeks, it is set in a beautiful village. This Logis hotel is very popular with short stay french holidaymakers. Food is superb value and consists of a traditional varied menu and we loved eating alfresco in the idyllic courtyard setting. We were made to feel very welcome by the...

One steak and one salmon with carrots and courgettes and lyonnaise potatoes, both meals very good, service also good . It was nice to have a good clean meal that had not been fancied up. Lovely courtyard setting for alfresco dining.

This is a popular country hotel with a restaurant - part of the Logis chain. It has a number of chalets around a pool, and is popular with French holidaymakers, so is likely to be quite busy. We had a standard 20 Euro menu, with aperitifs and wine with the meal, the total coming to 58 euros for two. The...

We walked along to the restaurant at this hotel from where we were staying in Nadaillac de Rouges. It was a warm evening in early September so we sat on the terrace. We chose the set menu at 25 Euros and it was the best food we had in the whole holiday. Delicious soup, a superb gizzard salad (which was...

We stopped at Chastrusse on our way down from Paris to Cahors because we prefer authentic, one-of-a-kind places over big chain hotels. These independant businesses are unfortunately disappearing one after the other like "La Bougnate" in Blesle (a TripAdvisor great address) that closed between the time we reserved and the day we were supposed to arrive. All reviewers rightly praise...

As a restaurant this is probably the best food ever, and the courtyard where we ate was delightful. However we were very disappointed with our room, which was in a tiny breeze-block annexe, with barely enough room for a small double bed, absolutely stifling at night, with no aircon or even a fan. The towels were almost threadbare & not...

We have stayed in this picture perfect town for two summers. Dining outside at the Restaurant Chastrussee late in the evening is a joy. The food is basic but tasty. The service friendly. The cassoulet is particularly good as is the omelette with cepes. The owner is also the mayor of the town,
