Lovely hotel with fantastic staff, Caroline and Kim stood out particularly as they were both attentive, friendly and funny but I had no issues with any of the staff and the room we had was very spacious. The food in the restaurant was fantastic (particularly the ribs). I’d stay again in a heartbeat.

It's been very difficult to write this review as the staff here are 2nd to none. Caroline is a wonder! So attentive. The restaurant food was 5* But, we had an issue with our room that I feel should be brought to the attention of the owner. I removed the sheet to put a spare quilt on as I coud feel the springs and was quite frankly shocked at the mattress. Even the mattress protector was brown with stains. It was only fit for the tip. The room was very dusty. Caroline moved us immediately. Our 2nd room was cleaner but again the mattresses were stained. No mattress cover on one bed and the sheets didn't fit. Pillows were stained brown. We didn't have the nerve to complain again so used spare quilts to sleep on. The window looked out onto 2 filthy compost bins covered in weeds. The blind fell off when we closed it. Caroline dealt with our complaint with the upmost professionalism and gave us a generous discount. This is partly why I've been reluctant to write this but it really was grim. We had previously stayed at The Deddington Arms twice (the same owner) and the beds were wonderful. If the rooms had an update we would return in a heartbeat.

We spent two nights at the Cartwright Hotel while attending an equine event locally. We were telephoned before arrival to warn us about there being a major water leak in the local area and the hotel being without water. This thoughtful approach set the tone for our entire stay. The hotel is beautifully run and the entire staff were helpful and attentive. It was the second time that we have stayed there and we will not hesitate to go back.

I have given a five star score based on the wonderful service we received from Caroline and her staff. The breakfast was of a high quality. I particularly loved the homemade apricot compote. Our room was a premier room which was spacious, clean and functional. We had a good night’s sleep in a very comfortable bed. However the room lacked lustre being quite dark and bland and for that reason I wouldn’t describe it as premium.

Just a quick review of The Cartwright as we return from a long weekend in Aynho . Firstly i should explain that this was not our first choice, but one forced on us after a cancelled Covid booking last year, and in fact what was a booking made as an essential for attending Silverstone Moto GP this weekend. Aynho is a lovely sprawling village that has quaint character (would be a lovely place to live in fact), so if you want a quiet walk it's great. The Cartwright is nestled away just from the main road with adequate cosy parking away from any trouble. The hotel is of a good standard with a lovely bar and restaurant, breakfast in particular is excellent with simple but delicious choices (I recommend the smoked haddock and poached egg, a masterpiece of healthy taste......and yes smoked haddock can be white in colour!). Our room was from the parking courtyard in what seems to be a small converted barn or stable, it was compact and more than adequate for us, potentially it has suffered a little through Covid lockdown so may well need a spruce up next season......comfortable and functional for sure. The best part of the whole experience here is the staff fronted by a lady named Caroline (I believe the manager), simply she is a whirlwind that makes your stay enjoyable, she has a keen eye for good customer service and clearly seeks feedback about the property, a credit as were all the polite staff. Yes we would stay again if attending the area, yes it would i'm sure be a pleasure........have a good look at this one!
