We booked a 3-night stay at Chateau La Touanne in April 2024, intending to use it as our base for exploring the Loire Valley. If you've ever dreamed of staying and sleeping in a museum, this place must be on your bucket list. As a couple, we opted not to stay in Amboise or Blois, which are more touristy and bustling. With a rental car at our disposal, we aimed to immerse ourselves in authentic chateau living while maintaining the flexibility to explore other chateaus at our leisure.

Finding Chateau La Touanne was a breeze. The atmosphere and charm of this place were amazing. Despite booking the smallest room in the chateau, we were pleasantly surprised by its spaciousness, far exceeding the advertised 20 square meters. We extend warm thanks to our hosts, Nicolas and Christine, whose hospitality made our stay both comfortable and memorable. The breakfast experience, in particular, deserves special mention.

We highly recommend this place and hope to return.

This is one of my favourite places to say. Nicholas and Christine d'Abboville are excellent and extremely charming hosts. They speak very good English. The chateau is beautifully decorated and the rooms are extremely comfortable (we have stayed in three of them). An excellent breakfast is provided.

'In the family' since the 1600s Chateau La Touanne is a well kept place with respect for history. I would call it a 'boutique chateau'. Nice service by the owners, very nice rooms, good breakfast, ideally located to visit Orléans.

Managed by the owners (this chateau was in the curent family for generations) the hotel has an authentic charm of an old school ascetic stately home enhanced with all the best modern comforts. Property grounds are very quiet, pretty and well maintained. Located a short drive away from good restaurants.

Très Magnifique!

This Chateau is the real deal, as are the hosts Nicholas and Christine, who are warm, gracious and have a real love for the Chateau.

The grounds are lovely and it is a nice country drive to other historical sights like Cherverny and Chambord to name only two.

Away from traffic and towns, the setting is serene and restful.

We would (and will) recommend to anyone, and would definitely return when back in France.

Plus belle, merci beaucoup Nicholas and Christine.
From your Australian friends.

It's all been said, but we have to reiterate what a wonderful stay we had at La Touanne. Nicolas and Christine are charming hosts and if you are interested, they are keen to tell you a little of the history of their amazing home. They both speak good English but indulged us by letting us practice our French - until we got into subjects beyond our abilities! We were staying only for one night and were presented with one of the best meals we had while in France. We gladly accepted Nicolas's kind offer of a glass of a particular local wine as an aperitif. The dining room, as all the other rooms, was magnificent - dominated by a fireplace incorporating their coat of arms featuring a leopard, which can also be seen above the front door and on the pieces of the dinner service. We would certainly hope to stay here again and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone seeking to experience a touch of French history, luxury and bonhomie.

We spent 2 ngihts in Chateau Touanne in early June 2011. The family run chateau is magnificent, built in 1650 it oozes charm and history and was exactly what we were after for our trip to the Loire Valley.
Our room was very large and well appointed with a modern ensuite bathroom attached. There is no TV etc in the room however we didnt travel to France to watch TV.
The property has a swimming pool which looked great, however, the weather wasnt condusive for swimming, the balance of the grounds are good for walking around in and there is a stream on the property with a boat that can be taken out.
The hosts are terrific and we were treated to a breif tour of the chateau and a run through of the history by Nicholas which was very interesting. It is great that the chateau has remained in the family since being built over 300 years ago.
Recommend a stay here to anyone visiting the loire valley!

We are 4 retired international managers (US, GB, Sweden and Swiss) and meet regularly at outstanding places of this world together with our wives. La Touanne is a perfect place to explore the Loire châteaux and Orléans and to spend time with friends. Christine and Nicolas d’Aboville are excellent hosts, caring for their guests as well as for their perfectly preserved château.

This is a lovely chateau with close access to the Chateaux de la Loire, Chambord, Chaumont sur Loire, Cheverny. We were not in the main building but facing the stables which was a wonderful bedroom upstairs with spacious bathroom and walk in shower. This space would be great for a family as there is another bedroom available and sitting/tv room downstairs kitchen and extra bathroom! The grounds are well kept and it is very peaceful. Our breakfast was delicious croissants and brie were outstanding and portions very generous. The owners Nicolas and Christine are very welcoming and made great suggestions for dining and visiting Merci!
