Mashpi is like nowhere else on earth. Anyone lucky enough to spend time in this incredible lodge, hidden within the romance of the cloud forest of Ecuador will never forget the experience. We spent three days here, marvelling at the beauty and rarity of the plants, the birds and the animals and at the experiences of swimming in waterfalls, listening...

This place is paradise. Especially for bird lovers! Bedrooms are wonderfully comfortable with marvellous views of the forest, and the food is delicious. The activities are interesting and rewarding. The staff are superb, knowledgeable, caring and fun to be around. Total professionalism on every level. Impossible to name everyone, as there are two staff allocated to every guest, but a...

Mashpi lodge is a haven 3hrs from Quito which is a bonus. The lodge itself is very modern - made of glass metal and concrete with beautiful highly polished wood furniture . It seems an unlikely combination but it really works . The restaurant/bar area is a wonderful two story ceiling to floor glass wall, overlooking the forest. The staff...

A truly wonderful, unique and magical experience. They say difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations, well that could not be closer to the truth! As part of an eco-tour through Ecuador we had limited time to take in the amenities at Mashpi, but we loved every second of it! Most guests arrive by transfer from Quito in a comfortable...

Essentially a glass box in the middle of the rain forests of Ecuador, Mashpi certainly lived up to its expectations. Approached down 20km of what is dirt track (and pretty uncomfortable) we weren't sure what to expect. However, when we got there we were greeted by smiling and helpful Ecuadorian staff, shown to the most amazing room with floor to...

Mashpi Lodge was everything we wanted and exceed our expectation. The lodge was built around the activities of forest and sits in the forest. You can't get more remote and yet, we didn't miss civilization one bit. Everyday we returned back to the lodge to be met at the door with a drink and a cool towel. We spent everyday...

The lodge is spectacular, the staff wonderful and helpful, little extras like dryers to dry damp clothing after hikes etc. Wonderful guides, fantastic actvities ( hiking, bird watching, swimming in waterfalls, sky biking etc etc The reason this only gets 3 stars is the quality of the food. How can breakfast ( a buffet) be awful? How can every meal served...

Everything about my stay at Mashpi was wonderful: the service, the food (amazing), the room, the warm and welcoming people, the mighty forest and the long hikes (don't miss the hike though the river!). My favourite activity though, was the 2 km "flight" on top of the góndola/teleférico built just to cross the Mashpi forest from the clouds and be...

If I had to pick a hidden gem in the Ecuadorean cloud forest it would be Mashpi Lodge. When we were packing for Mashpi Lodge I made sure I took with me a good book and some magazines I planned to read during our stay, assuming we were going to have plenty of free and relaxed time. I was wrong!...

You could never happen upon this place by chance. It is a long drive from Quito, the last hour or so on a dirt road. The lodge is beautiful, modern, with all comforts and luxuries. We had a fabulous room (11) with 2 walls of glass open onto the forest. The staff were all charming and very helpful, under the...
