We were looking for a place to stay in the vicinity of Oracour-sur-Glane and came across Ancien Couvent des Carmes on Trip Advisor. All the very positive reviews were most deserved. Ray is a gracious host in a facility he is justly proud of. The fourteenth century convent has been converted to a comfortable place to stay without compromising its...

We only stayed one night but loved everything about this place and Ray and his pets ! Our room was large with a very comfortable bed and well decorated. The dinner was amazing, served in a very atmospheric dining room with wood burning fireplace. Ray's four course dinner was the best that I have had in the past 2 weeks...

We wish we could have stayed longer than one night and want to return if we visit France again. The location is beautiful and full of history, which you can get from Ray or from the visitors center located in the chateau. The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable and Ray is an excellent cook. This is a relaxing,...

When travelling thru France this was one of the best B&B's we stayed in. The convent has been turned into a beautiful B&B, and Ray was delightful. The decor and rooms all tastefully decorated, beautiful linen which is always a plus. Warm and comfortable room. We chose to have dinner and were delighted with our meal, cooked and served by...

I agree totally with all the compliments that previous reviewers have written about this place. We stopped for one night only as we were motoring down through France but wished afterwards that we had stayed for a few days more. The hosts were both so helpful and personable without being pushy so that it seemed as though we had known...

Stunning place, charming host, succulent meals...Exceeded all my expectations...in the heart of one of the most beautiful village in France. At about 30 mn from Limoges and 20 mn from Oradour-sur Glane...

Staying at Ancien Couvent was another top highlight of our trip to France. We wanted to visit Oradure sur Glane, and learned of this lodging from Rick Steve's book. The rooms are huge, with comfortable beds and "life size" bathrooms! But the best part is the hospitality afforded by Ray, the co-owner. We were the only guests that night --...

Found this fabulous B&B through a friend's recommendation. It is a lovely old convent in a small village with large rooms, comfortable beds, large modern bathrooms and a gracious owner & host, Raymond Thomas. Raymond offers sterling accommodations for very reasonable prices. We opted for his home-cooked dinner with wine and were amazed at Ray's culinary skills. We found he...

What a lovely place, a real gem. In a beautiful little village, the ancient convent is warm & welcoming, & exquisitely decorated. The rooms are large & stylish with a lovely modern shower room en suite. Ray is a good host & excellent cook & this turned out to be one of our best nights of the holiday, albeit, it...

Ray has created a charming B & B full of antiques and lovely paintings. The evening meal, 4 courses with wine, was restaurant quality, served in a cosy dining room. The village itself was so pretty, it was a shame we were just passing through. Ray is a welcoming host, and the price makes this a complete bargain.
