Relatively a spacious room for a deluxe room. The AC had some functionality glitches at time, TV had several choices of channels. Hotel is situated in area where there is variety of restaurants to choose from, aside from shops. Basic facilities such as kettle to cook water with is provided. Overall a good stay.

Situated in a small coastal city, this relatively new hotel offers the service at its best. I took deluxe room, a carpeted space just enough to accommodate desk, large wardrobe and bed without 'packed' feeling. Split AC is quite noisy, and 21 inch tube tv gave no more but noisy pictures. No need to worry for your hunger, this hotel is in between two nice 'kedai' to get your meal during the day. It's worth the price, and to me it's the best out of the 3 hotels I recognized in this city.

Okay I was pressed for time and had to rush an accomodation night in at Lahad Datu. There isn't a lot of choice but this place was one of the stand outs. Reception was friendly nice and accomodating, giving me a restaurant tip for dinner all good. Once I stepped onto the hallway on one of the floors. Bam! It hits you, despite the signs of no smoking in the lifts it was clearly obvious that people do. In my room it was suffocating, I'm a very mild asthmatic but by the morning my nose was blocked and lungs felt like I had smoked a packet of ciggies. I tried opening the windows for some ventilation/air but they were caulked shut with silicone, no wonder it's so intoxicating with the smell of smoke. However the room was nice and I found no issues with noise from the street. There are always little issues with budget accomodation - leaking shower, power points not near the bed, for phone charging whilst using it. Etc etc If you are smoker I'd say it's fine for a stay, but if you're asthmatic don't even.

So the price was affordable. And the location was at the centre of Lahad Datu city. It was within a walking distance to the 'Pasar Malam'. And KFC was right in front of it! One restaurant was just next to it. So u wont starve, thats for sure. The room was good for your money. I was happy with the amount of money and the service and room provided. There was no breakfast but like i said, thousands of eateries near to it. So i enjoyed my stay. U will to.

I chose to stay at MB Hotel for one night prior to going to Danum Valley. The hotel is downtown on a main road opposite KFC and surrounded by lots of eateries, supermarket and shops. Staff were friendly. The room itself was decorated tastefully for the price paid. Large but firm bed, pillow was also firm foam. The downsides were the room smelt strongly of cigarette smoke (the whole floor did), the drainage in the bathroom was bad and taking a shower resulted in water coming back up the drain and flooding the bathroom and it was quite noisy despite being 9 floors up and I discovered the hotel was opposite a karaoke bar which went to at least 3am and there was quite a lot of road noise despite it being a Sunday night! WiFi on my level wouldn't connect but I was able to connect to the levels either below or above which worked fine. Besides that it was good value for money. If they could ban smoking, sort out the plumbing and get double glazing this could be a very good hotel. There was some construction going on in lobby but this did not bother me. All up choices are very limited in Lahad Datu and from what I saw this was ok for a night, although why you'd stay in Lahad Datu for more than a night I'm not sure.

I booked this from Expedia with just the management provided photos for a hint of what I was getting into. The place turned out to be as good as the photos. There is not a lot to choose from in Lahad Datu and this would appear to be one of the better choices. Apparently, it is a rebranded, refurbished building that became part of the MB chain in September 2016. It is a simple but clean hotel with everything you need. The room is good size and has TV with a few channels, AC, safe, amenities provided, desk, tea kettle, wifi, and clean bathroom. Two bottles of water were provided. The bed was very firm, one might even say hard, but had good quality linens. The carpet and drapes appeared new, as well as the bathroom counter and finishes. All part of the refurbishing, I assume. The towels were thick and also appeared new. The location is on the downtown Main Street. There are plenty of local restaurants and shops. There was excellent choice of street food down a side street about a block away. There are no services in the hotel, not even a soda machine. There is an ATM/cash machine a few blocks away on the same street at Public Bank. Being on the main street, there is traffic noise, but tolerable in our 8th floor room. You might ask for a room on the other side. I would say this is a great value for Lahad Datu, where there are not a lot of great choices. I would stay here again.
