Spent the one night in Lahad Datu in between stays in Kinabatangan River and Danum Valley. It's a small city with not much to do so I was really after a relaxing stay with more time spent in the room than I normally would. Firstly, the WiFi in this area of Lahad Datu was down (affected hotel opposite as well). Was quite disappointing however customer service were apologetic, were willing to cancel booking free of charge and offered use of hotspotting to their phone if in reception area - Their can do attitude made me to choose to stay with them! I took a river view room but sadly the view isn't much (certainly not the fault of the hotel) but it was nice to get some sunlight into the room during day hours. It's a small town so walking into the centre of town doesn't take too long. The breakfast they served was nice (although basic) but they did serve some hot food. Would I stay here again? I doubt I'd come back to Lahad Datu but if I did (provided WiFi was working), I would stay again solely due to the exceptional customer service. Was quite cheap ($) as well despite decent facilities (including use of gym which I didn't use).…

On visiting Lahad Datu for business, we stayed at the Maya Hotel and enjoyed our stay very much. The room was clean, the staff were professional and the breakfast area was simple but nice for our needs.

We stay here for a night before enter Tabin Wildlife Reserve. It's ok to have a quick stop here, food and staff are average good. The only thing I would recommend is always maintenance room and bathroom. Facilities are great : free sauna and gym.

I was having a business trip on March 18. Without further a due, let's head to the main point. Pros: 1. CCTVs every where 2. Policemen are always around for patrol 3. Free access to Gym at ground floor 4. Free spa @ steam room 5. Discount on Massages 6. Room is equipped with balcony 7. Room is clean, regardless of any rooms as house clearer available for kind assistance 8. Coocko healthy Water Dispenser ready for hot and cold water 9. Basic 3 stars requirements fulfilled 10. 10 channels TV! Wow 11. Secondary security door 12. Local or American breakfast 13. Friendly receptionist 14. Cheapest Price for such comfortable stay 15. Convenient store just few minutes around 16. Free Parking Cons: 1. Sometimes you can hear the air con cycling coolant 2. Quiteness not quite good The conclusion I can say is, it is a good hotel to stay at Lahad Datu. A good sea view, a one of a kind personal balcony for a fresh breath, friendly services, and not to neglect about the price of my order RM78 is included gym and spa, it's enriched my healthiness throughout the stay. Breakfast is also a great way to fill up your empty stomach before your journey. Extra cash can be spend on massage to relax your body. I like the way the hotel getting everything to a health and relax based hotel with many friendly faces, it's really give me a pleasure and enjoyable stay instead of stressful business trip. Hints: Maya Hotel history can be viewed at the down stair. I recommend to check it as it was interesting.…

We stayed here for two nights whilst travelling around Borneo. We booked the Kings Suite with balcony and sea view. This hotel as we discovered was in the centre of the town in not a very nice area near the Philipino market. The room itself was ok but nothing special as the discription indicates, we also booked breakfast, the choice was local or American, this first morning we opted for American which consisted of fried egg, tinned sausage smothered in tomato sauce all of which were stone cold, not good nor appetising, consequently we gave the second morning a miss. We are experienced travellers and are used to differing standards of accommodation, the only saving grace was we had a balcony and if you ignored all the rubbish floating in the sea along the shoreline was ok. It also stated parking available, it was on the busy street outside if you could find a space. Also there is no lift, not good as our room was on the second floor. I would not return.…

We stayed here before and after our trip to Danum Valley and it provided us with everything we needed. The rooms with the sea view are definitely worth it (we had one without on the second stay) as there isn't much to do in the town itself. The rooms are fine, a little dated and not the cleanest I've stayed in, but nothing too horrid at all, just a bit of dust. Air con is good and one room had a good sized fridge (again, the sea view one) My husband used the gym and said it was great, but be aware there's no air con. Breakfast is fine, American or Malaysian option. American was toast, fried egg, something that looked like a sausage and cold beans.

Lahad Datu, not the greatest town I've ever stayed in. We had a day and night here before heading out to Kawag Danum Rainforest Lodge. We paid a little extra for the sea view room and it was definitely worth it. We spent most of the day on the balcony watching the bird life and the comings and goings on the ocean. The town is quite dirty and smelly so this was about the best place to be. We used the gym in morning, which is quite good. Breakfast was also good.
