I do like a good short crust pastry pie but they are difficult to find. Pies these days are mostly a bowl with a puff pastry lid. But here they are proper individual pies with a pastry bottom, top and sides. The one on offer was minced beef and onion.. it was a very good size and came with plenty...

I had the pleasure of spending a couple of nights at this lovely little country pub/hotel. The real ale and food was great and the staff are really friendly and make you feel welcome. Well worth a visit if your round and about, a thumbs up from me.

Visited here when in Boroughbridge. Locals were very friendly. meals tasty and plentiful and the real ale positively thirst quenching. This was an old coaching inn with lots of character and had lots of nooks and crannies to sit in. Well worth a visit.

Basic room in an annex behind the Black Bull inn, in the centre of Boroughbridge. Small shower room with electric shower; grouting a bit mildewy. Decor tired, but room was clean and warm. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast nicely cooked, but limited options - a few boxes of cereals on the side - no fresh fruit or yoghurt. No...

This was an excellent pub. We stayed here on one night of our Way of the Roses Cycle Ride. We had a wonderful reception. Our bicycles were stored securely. We met family and friends and had an excellent meal in the restaurant in the evening. The breakfast could not be faulted but we felt we could not do it full...

Visited the Black Bull whilst staying with family in Boroughbridge. This is a proper pub serving some great beer. The landlord was very welcoming just what you expect in Yorkshire. Had a couple of pints of Timothy Taylor's Bolt maker, what an outstanding drink. Will definitely be back.

Having stayed at the Black Bull for a number of years, I list their facilities: Rooms: good value, ensuite, clean and coffees etc. topped up daily. Restaurant: excellent food, well presented and, at times, too much! Pub: friendly, comfortable with a good selection of excellent beers.

The photo on this page is not of the Black Bull, Boroughbridge. As regards the real Black Bull in Boroughbridge you are guaranteed consistently well kept ale and a congenial atmosphere. Food served in the bar is perfectly acceptable, portions are good and service is quick.

We stayed in boroughbridge for a long weekend and found the Black Bull on our first day. This is a lovely place, so comfortable with friendly locals who made us feel welcome and were interested in what we were doing. We even saw a real live chimney sweep! The food is very good. We had fish and chips, burger, home...

I have never stayed in this pub but I can thoroughly recommend it as a traditional English inn. The beer is well kept, probably because the choice is limited so what is available is never stale. I visit regularly and have never had a bad pint. There are roaring real fires in winter and the landlord is very welcoming, as...
