Great views, great service, Lovely rooms. Reasonable Price. Fantastic Restaurant. Luigi and Manuela will make you feel at home and take care of your every need. Dania and Umberto will provide you with a tremendous gourmet dining experience. This is a low key small hotel, which will provide the best of memories.

We came here last week with my extended family of all women (and teenage girls)and had an amazing time with Dania. We were greeted with wonderful cappucini quickly followed by a lovely Rosè. There were dietary restrictions that bad to have everything gluten free which was no problem for La Chiusa. We learned how to make homemade pici, ravioli, stuffed...

We enjoyed a cooking class here with Dania and her staff. We learned how to cook several classic dishes and how to properly roll pici pasta by hand. Dania is extremely charismatic and lots of fun! The food was amazing and Umberto told us the story of how the restaurant / hotel came into existence over the years. This was...

I don't write reviews often because as a business owner I understand how a 'great' experience with 3 stars can really hurt your overall rating. That being said, I will only rate a REALLY great or really bad experience. A friend recommended this hotel and it didn't disappoint. The property has been beautiful renovated-the rooms are clean and the grounds/views...

It's been a decade since our sole to La Chiusa, but the memories linger fondly. Our suite was wrapped around an olive press with an expansive bath chamber. A photo of the view outside the suite entrance door adorns a screen saver on my flat screen. La Chiusa is a destination that draws me to return to Tuscany. Umberto was...

The food: amazing Tuscan tastes The views: unsurpassed scenic awesomeness The staff: you are family while you are there Other reviews call the property tired. Remember this place has a long history & is still functioning quite comfortably. With many visits to Italy, this is a favorite place to stay.

I have just read the review from lbgdayton, and agree with it wholeheartedly. Albergo, Umberto and Luigi are unforgetable and made for a lovely stay of one night in order to have a fabulous dinner here. Dinner was wonderful, worth the expense. We were treated like treasured friends and toured the amazing kitchen and met the staff who all made...

I can agree with all reviews - the good and the not so good. I will start with the good. 1. Luigi, the consierge, was the best - exceptional. He was responsive, eager to help and please, was on top of all our requests and knows the off the beaten path activities as well as the popular things to do....

We loved this beautiful B+B located on the site of an old olive mill. The rooms and food and service and the owner were all five star! Staff was delightful. Best food we had on our trip. The house wine was fine- and the local wine delicious. Great views.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The pleasure of Tuscany Fifteen elegant rooms and a gourmet restaurant made out an ancient oil-mill: that is La Chiusa, a characteristic and intimate place to stay in Montefollonico, a countryside guest house immersed into the Sienna province hills. We are in Tuscany , between Pienza and Montepulciano, on the ridge which divides Val D'Orcia and Crete Senesi. In the early 70's we pioneered to dedicate our lives to host in this part of the Tuscan countryside. We attended, several years later, the opening of the very firsts local guests houses and the rising of the Tuscan holidays as a must. Unconsciousness, determination or just by chance? We do not know exactly what led us up here. Without any doubt a common and unconditioned passion for scents and aromas, for the tasteful extra virgin olive oil, for Sangiovese wines, salami and cheese of our Siennese land together with the devotion for the ancient culinary learning handed down from mother to daughter as the old land cultivation techniques passed on from father to son. But what mainly spurred us on stepping forward was the confidence that people would soon or later certainly get back to appreciate simplicity and what our definition of hospitality is. Almost forty years later we are proud to say that we were right. Hospitality at La Chiusa not only means to open our house's doors to the guests, but to share with them our passion through the knowledge of our country. ... more   less
