We were here for 2 nights whilst visiting Kandy and would very happily have stayed longer. We were delighted with Pioneer room, one of the cheaper rooms but, whilst quite small and with twin beds placed together, had a lovely shower room and best of all a spacious private verandah with sofa and table leading to our own garden with...

This converted Dutch Villa has been expertly converted into a boutique hotel with a small selection of rooms. Each room is decorated different with tradition furnishing. The staff were all extremely helpful and polite. The food was also excellent. Definitely worth a visit.

Had a great two night stay at the Kandy House; a manor house dating from the early 1800's. The 9 rooms in this boutique limits the number of guests which affords an opportunity for personalized service. Our butler, Samir was awesome, helpful, friendly and made our stay memorable. Dinner was a set menu which we enjoyed each night.

A lovely old building, originally built by a Sri Lankan noble. Kandy is a frenetic kind of place and you arrive here with a great sense of relief and wonder. The pool area is fantastic with an infinity pool looking over paddy field framed by palm trees and forest. We were upgraded to the Duke room with use of a...

We spent two nights at the hotel. The town of Kandy is very busy with traffic, so it was delightful to be able to relax in the calm of the hotel and garden. The food was really good and not as expensive as some of the hotels where we stayed. My husband enjoyed the pool and surrounding area, but there...

Just spent four nights at this wonderful house. An oasis of calm and tranquility. Excellent service with our suite also having a fantastic butler service. Food was as good as I've eaten in Michelin starred restaurants. This stunning house is set in tropical grounds with views overlooking the paddy fields. Can't fault a thing. Just stunning and nothing was too...

3rd hotel into our trip. Very nice location and historic. Very nice grounds, with pool, meals on the verandah and lots of wildlife. Small boutique hotel, very intimate. Good food, attentive staff and pleasant rooms

Well, what can I say, I always like to be objective when writing reviews, 9/10 times there's usually something that could be of an improvement, !! Not Kandy House, this hotel is just perfect in every way,. The staff are unbelievably welcoming, friendly, polite and professional, they are really lovely. The environment is relaxed with a fabulous ambient atmosphere. The...

Lovely hotel, nice people. They have a butler system and ours was omnipresent. Food was lovely, both Sri Lankan curries and a European menu. Very good selection of cocktails. Its supposedly the former residence of a local chief and had the air of a colonial era building. Good large swimming pool, too, never crowded. We used the KH as a...

We spent just one night at the Kandy House and our only regret was that it wasn't more. The Kandy House is probably the nicest boutique hotel we have stayed in and the setting is magical, particularly at night with the fairy lights in the trees. Our stay was part of our tour of Sri Lanka, organised by the excellent...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Kandy House is a unique ancestral manor house (walauwa) providing seclusion and serenity for its guests in a lush, tropical garden setting, close to Kandy. With only 9 bedrooms, this Kandy hotel, aims is to give guests an experience of staying more in a private house than a conventional hotel. Traditional Kandyan architecture has been blended with Bawa-influenced modern, polished titanium cement floors and bathrooms. In the gardens, a stunning infinity pool has been landscaped into the hillside overlooking the rice paddy fields. Delicious European fusion and Sri Lankan cuisine is on offer. Well-placed to spend time to relax as well as explore a broad selection of Sri Lanka's primary destinations in the Cultural Triangle and Tea Country, including the Temple of the Tooth and the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. The house can also be booked as a whole for important celebrations with friends, or just for the peace of mind of a group having total privacy away from the public eye. The Kandy House also makes an ideal honeymoon hotel in Sri Lanka, in a quiet peaceful setting, honeymooners can enjoy the infinity pool, private dining, yoga or massages. ... more   less
