Firstly the room was very spacious and comfortable. However it was on the ground floor which we asked if we could avoid when we booked 7 months ago. There were some second floor rooms available as later in the day we saw a couple being escorted to one. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and the venue was very pleasant. However the evening meal at the Sands was not pleasant. The venue is uncomfortable. The tables and seating are haphazard and on top of that the best tables are reserved and empty for ages before someone turns up. Thus annoyed a large group of Russian guests who became very abusive to the staff to the point of picking up the reserved sign on the table and throwing it at a waitress. The beach is excellent and stretches for a very long way in both directions.

Thank you for you review of our resort. We are happy to hear you like our room and our breakfast. We are very proud of our breakfast offering as it is the best in Phuket. We will continue to provide the best choices and services. In regards to Sand Box, it is a popular venue to dine and we encourage guests to make reservation prior to arrival to ensure we provide a table since we have limited seatings. As per its name, this restaurant is situated on a sand ground, which provide a unique and intriguing experience. We always provide the best services and use the best ingredients to create mouthwatering dishes for all our guests. It would a great if you could provide additional comments to which you rated a three star for your stay so that we can look into the areas in which improvement maybe needed. You may send us an email directly. Again, thank you for your review and we look forward to hearing from you. Warmest Regards, Adthapong V. Director of Operations

Beautiful resort, with a nice calm beach and easy access. Breakfast buffet was well stocked and service was tentative. My room was near the long pool and a short walk to the beach area. Check-in as well support received throughout my stay was professional and courteous. Had an awesome stay.

A year ago, my family and I decided to get away from the New Year's hustle and bustle and frost to sunny Thailand. It was my first trip to this country, which fully justified all expectations. The choice fell on the hotel RENAISSANCE PHUKET RESORT & SPA. We opted for the location and infrastructure. I love green hotels with lots of trees and flowers. I had a raving delight when from the balcony of my room I saw a large pond with the most interesting fish and varans, which calmly walked around the hotel. As for the appearance of the hotel, you can safely put 10 points. It is new and beautiful. The rooms are always perfectly clean. Service at the highest level. We were organized several excursions, told and showed everything in great detail, all questions were always ready to answer. The staff is always smiling and friendly. Moreover, for the convenience of guests from the hotel to a small tourist village nearby from morning to evening runs a shuttle. And now let's get to the most important thing - the beach and the ocean. As I said earlier, the hotel is very green and the road to the beach is a pleasure. The staff will always meet you and offer you a sunbed and towels. Well, for those who do not like to swim in the ocean, there is a large pool. Near the beach there is a bar and various restaurants, and all this is not the territory of the hotel. Thank you more RENAISSANCE PHUKET RESORT & SPA for making my first stay in Thailand unforgettable!

Excellent hotel, suitable for both couples with and without children. The beach in front of the hotel is great for swimming and relaxing. The heated pool also leaves nothing to be desired. The breakfast is delicious, and the Takieng restaurant is a must-visit. The service is extremely attentive, and the housekeeper Dang deserves special praise: she prepared the room's decoration with great care to celebrate my wife's birthday, which surprised us greatly, as it wasn't even a request from our part.

We stayed for 7 nts B&B on the 2nd week of our two centre holiday The hotel is in a secluded area with easy access to the stunning 17km sandy beach. They run shuttle buses into The Mai Khao village every hour throughout the day and every half hour in the evening. The rooms are large, beautifully decorated and functional. The staff are all very helpful, attentive and friendly. There are 3 restaurants, one for breakfast only, one beach bar with an international menu for light lunches and meals for evening, and a high end Thai restaurant. What we couldn't understand is why (for such a remote 5 star hotel) they didn't utilise the the large beautiful breakfast restaurant in the evening. They offer such a wonderful array of hot foods including curries, noodle and rice dishes, salads, fruits as well as the traditional breakfast fare in the mornings only, and then it closes for the rest of the day ! This would be a wonderful buffet restaurant in the evening, especially great for families. The hotel has good facilities for children with an activity centre and shallow pool. It's away from the main beachfront location, but wasn't used by many families, meaning the main pool area was very busy and could be a little noisy at times. This wasn't particularly conducive to the hotels 'zen like' description for peace and relaxation during the day, although to be fair you could take sun loungers on the grassed area where the trees provided dappled sunlight throughout the day. We found the hotel to be very quiet in the evenings with not many people about, the Lounge Bar in particular. The beach is stunning but a little deceptive. There is a strong tidal underflow and there were warnings of jellyfish, so not many people were swimming. Overall we did enjoy our stay at this beautiful hotel.

With your comment regarding the restaurant operations, our management team will study further to enhance our guests' experiences. Our breakfast is the best in Phuket, and we are proud to provide wonderful array of food and beverages for all. With the regards to the jellyfish, it is seasonal, and they go away after a few days. Our Recreation team is standing by the beach to accommodate any needs for our guests an always watch out every day for any unforeseen circumstances. We stayed at this hotel for 14 nights half board, so we’ve given it a reasonable ‘road test’ to say what is good and not so good. Let’s start with the good points: 1) Climate in Jan/Feb is wonderful at around 30-32c and not too humid. It didn’t rain at all during our stay. 2) Location of the hotel is peaceful and tranquil, situated on the edge (but not on) the beach. There are three other five star hotels nearby with a small (overpriced) boutique ‘village’ that serves the apartments/hotels. Phuket old town is an hour away and cost 1000 baht by taxi or 650 by the Bolt app. Can take longer in the rush hour. 3) The hotel rooms were refurbished some time ago but to a very high standard, with white marble floors and bathrooms with both a bath and a shower and are well maintained and spacious. Most have a garden view, given that the beach and the margins up to it are a national park. 4) Service is generally exceptionally good both in the restaurants and on the sunbeds. Sunbeds are plentiful and give 100 Baht (£2.50) to one of the guys will ensure your glass is never empty of chilled water. Although space around the pool is limited (see below) there is an extensive grassy area right next to the beach with big trees with plenty of dappled light to sunbath in if you are not up to the big burn. 5) The main restaurant (Takieng) is very good indeed with exceptional food and service as befits a 5* hotel, but see below.. 6) Breakfast is in a lovely location and very good with a massive variety of options. Now some less good points… 1) As mentioned elsewhere, the pool looks nice in the pictures but is really too small for the size of the hotel. There is a separate kiddies pool (which is wonderful, by the way) but is so far from the main pool that parents bring their kids to the main pool and therein lies the problem if you were hoping for a peaceful sunbath next to the pool. 2) In an evening, there is only two choices of places to eat. The second one being the ‘Sand Box, which as the name suggests has a sand floor and no air conditioning and not really fitting of a 5* hotel. The food is ok, and the staff make up for some of its shortcomings by being charming and attentive. They should repurpose the breakfast restaurant for the evenings as it is a better location, with outside and inside air conditioned options. 3) The sea is warm and lovely, but there are jellyfish that come and go and it was effectively out of bounds for half of our stay due to the risk of being stung. In summary, would we recommend it? Yes I think we would.
