Grand guest house with tranquil gardens and lots of birds. Service was great but food a little disappointing. Swimming pool in desperate need of daily cleaning and had I been travelling with the children we would have complained as the weather was quite hot and unable to swim in such a dirty pool. Small fridge and aircon work well.Would stay...

we stayed one night in this lovely Hotel. Very clean and large rooms. Helpful staff and dinner and breakfast was simple but nice. It is about 20 mins from town, but set in the hillside amongst the rice fields. I would stay here again, its great value for money.

A fine example of a VIP Residence during British colonial times .Superbly carved, massive, wooden doors and stairways. High ceilings. They’ve modernized the bathrooms. GOOD ASPECTS The above ,plus good cleanliness, nice views and Dhanuka and Senaratne are super –friendly management .They’re really ,genuinely ,interested in the satisfaction of their guests. NEGATIVES Very amateurish operation .No housekeeping checks .Examples :...

We stayed at the Mansion for only three nights but wish we'd had longer. The Mansion is a beautiful old building converted to a hotel, with only about ten rooms - we saw two or three other couples while we were there, so very private. Our room was big, with the highest ceilings I've seen! We arrived early after landing...

My wife and I just came back from a 2 weeks trip to Sri Lanka. We spent the last days at the Mansion - and I am still happy we found that wonderful place. The first day we arrived, it was almost empty - so, we actually felt like a couple of aristicrats spending their weekend in this beautiful colonial...

We had a very enjoyable, but brief stay at the Mansion. Despite being a little run-down, the hotel still retains much of its style and charm. The rooms are basic but clean, spacious and comfortable, the room rates competitive and the food and service were very good for a mid-range Sri Lankan hotel. Staff very friendly, and key front-office staff...

A little out of Kandy, The Mansion more than makes up for this by the wonderfully atmospheric receptions rooms and bedrooms all of which are kept beautifully clean. The staff were welcoming and truly helpful, arranging our trips and Tut Tut requests with kind efficiency. The food was excellent and service friendly albeit a little laid back at times :)...

We stayed here overnight, booking made by our tour guide, Slimline Tours. The building is a fantastic old colonial style house with a small but clean swimming pool and well maintained gardens. A magnificent staircase and 20 foot high ceilings all add to the ambience. The food and service was good. Now the downside; the rooms smelt very musty and...

This is a very special place, one in a million. Unless you are looking for at 5 star cookie cutter resort, I would HIGHLY recommend staying here. This heritage mansion somehow felt like a home away from home (although my home does not resemble this mansion by any stretch of the imagination), I didn't want to leave! As soon as...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Mansion was built in the 1920s by Punchi Banda Nugawela, Diyawadana Nilame, of the "Temple of The Tooth' in Kandy. The designer of this architectural masterpiece is fully European and the architect still remains a mystery.
