Turtle Bay was an incredible destination, and our stay there was truly memorable! Right from the beginning, the staff welcomed us with warm smiles and exceptional friendliness, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The hotel's proximity to the beach offered us a stunning view that added to the overall charm of the place. If you're seeking a peaceful and rejuvenating getaway, I believe Turtle Bay is the perfect choice. The option to take a refreshing dip in the infinity pool or the nearby sea was a delightful experience, leaving us feeling completely relaxed and at ease. The culinary offerings at the hotel were outstanding as well. We had the opportunity to sample several dishes, and each one was a delicious treat. As a lover of spicy food, I personally would have appreciated a bit more heat in some dishes, but I understand that the flavors cater to the foreign taste buds, and that's absolutely fine. All in all, our two-day stay at Turtle Bay left us enchanted, and we are already looking forward to visiting this beautiful place once again. The stunning surroundings and the hospitality of the staff made our experience truly special. A big thank you to the entire team at Turtle Bay for their amazing hospitality!

hated this place, by far the least appealing in Sri Lanka for the price. photos don't look like the rooms you are shown you'll get. I have no idea where the lovely bathrooms are?! beach littered with rubbish no help or food after 9pm a tiny pool - if you want to sunbath, you are probably not in the best place staff don't speak English well which makes it hard no room service

This hotel is situated in quite the lovely part of the beach. The view from our window was amazing. However, underneath these surface-level pleasantries, the hotel was a bit worse for wear. There were many advertised services that didn’t seem to exist; a ‘24-hr front desk’ was in reality a man who couldn’t speak English who sat in complete darkness on a sun-lounger. An example of how useless he was; when I asked for some snacks for my wife, who was ill, the man just said the word ‘gif’ three or four times. Helpful! Our fridge had rust around it, there was no ‘mini-bar’ in the room, no kettle for the teas and coffees, no slippers. None of that stuff. There was a complete lack of ‘snack bar’, another advertised service, meaning that if you needed something to eat after the kitchen closed, you were screwed. I didn’t see any evidence of ‘evening entertainment’ either. No ‘live music/performance’, or ‘cooking class’. And, if these were available, it was unbeknownst to us. ‘Room service’ was non-existent, too. Unless you count leaving your room to order something to be brought to your room, which is not in line with any other establishment I’ve stayed in. As for the ‘wellness’ places. There was zero evidence from our experience that they existed, no orientation at check-in to show guests where they were, or how to use them. In fact, most of these issues went unchecked until I spoke to the manager, who upon hearing our grievance started telling me his resumé, like that mattered. The same went for the ‘bar’, which was effectively part of the kitchen. So, again, after 9:30, nothing was available. The entire hotel seemed to shut-down once the kitchen had closed, the communal areas in complete darkness, with no English speaking members of staff to assist with anything. Shocking for a hotel dedicated to international tourists. The beach, as lovely as it was to see from the room, upon closer inspection was a bit filthy; plastic everywhere, complete with pervy men photographing women, which for single-women will be intimidating. When I spoke to the manager about my grievances, he offered us a free-meal as compensation, which I ordered to our room. Fast-forward 2-hours, and we were still waiting on it. The staff assured me it was cooked and ready, but they’d been waiting for us to come to the restaurant, despite my original request of ‘room service’. When the food finally arrived, it was lukewarm, the steak was actual leather. Another compensatory service offered was a car to the train station to bring us to Galle. I’d asked the manager to call ahead to find out train times, etc. something else he totally messed up. Admittedly, he did organise for the same driver to bring us onwards to Galle, which we were appreciative of, but only after we had to raise hell with him, again. The pool was decent enough, except when families came, which made it less enjoyable to not at, as kids make tonnes of noise and splash water everywhere. I should also state that the room images aren’t exactly in line with what we got; namely the bathroom, which looked very different from what our booking showed. I wanted to give this hotel a higher rating, but the comedy of errors regarding the management trying to make up their misgivings, and the general lack of services, despite being advertise have forced me to give it two stars. A rating which is made up entirely of the view from the room and the working air-con. Also, to highlight how lacking the hotel is, their laundry prices are a laminated print-out from 5-years ago…so they aren’t accurate. Why not just print out a new list of updated prices? Who knows. Stay here when there are no families, cuz our stay was kinda ruined by them towards the end, sadly, treating the place like an amusement park.

Great location right by the beach, was very peaceful away from the crowds. Rooms were spacious and clean. Food was great. Staff were very attentive and helpful. Our car broke down after we had checked out and the staff were so helpful and supportive. Had a very peaceful stay with my family and cousins. Will return again! Would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Stayed one night. Staff member tried to enter my room. Had to stuff paper into holes to stop peeping. Room was loud with children playing outside. The food was really poor and very expensive. Mama ager was rude and unapologetic. The bath you get is totally different to the lctjrews on the booking site, as are the ground. Lots of. Sad homesless dogs made worst by the fact the hotel hotel tried to attack.them. Went to. Bed at 8am as nothing to do.

Dear Guest, We are quiet surprised to read your review. There was not a single solo guest who stayed one night at our hotel during the month of June. Also there was not a single complain reported about staff intrusion. Our rooms are facing direct sea view and there is no way to peep through as the main door is totally sealed off and no space to insert paper. we will have only the Manager and security staff within the premises and staff has no access into the rooms in the night. We admit that we are not perfect and things might go wrong specially in the service sector .However We categorically reject the reviews with the malicious intentions and in vindictive nature which is tantamount to harassment or extorsion. We have already complained to trip advisor to investigate this matter. Please do write to me on sujeewa@turtlebay.lk if you can substantiate .

We spent two nights in the property. It was the best beach I have ever been so far. Splendid location. Once you open the window, you can see a lovely view of the Indian Ocean. Rooms are comfortable with lot of space. Child friendly l. My two children loved it very much. The pool is amazing. Specially the baby pool. Foods were also delicious. Great place to relax with the uncrowded beach.

Probably one of the most amazing stay after travelling to 16 countries...the moment you enter, seems.like you have entered a paradise..right from the big rooms, courteous staff, amazing views and blue ocean and empty stretch of beach, everything seemes to be just perfect..everyday there is a new variety of sri lankan breakfast..that is just better than the previous one..the whole staff, specially Reji makes your stay wonderful..the beach is practically empty with just some souls wandering..you can take long walks, get some great shots, and just be yourself..pool is equally beautiful and food is mouthwatering..this will practically be our hideout now..just 7 rooms, so even when the resort is 100% occupied, it never feels like..will surely be visiting again.. Just one thing, if you are planning to work from.here, there might be some power cut problems..otherwise wifi runs fine and smooth..staff can help.you arrange your transport via bus, train and cab..everythings possible in this paradise..

It really is what is described in forums .. The pictures you will see in regards this hotel and beach, area are what awaits you here.. We spent 3nights at this simply idyllic hotel... Now, if you require bars, restaurants, etc etc near to your hotel when on a well-deserved holiday, then, please stop reading this post, because it simply will not suit your needs.. But, if you would like a totally relaxed time, with nothing but sounds of waves crashing to the Coastline,( may get the odd garden Strimmer noise..), then absolutely, this is genuinely the right place for you.. There's only 7 rooms here, couple at pool level and rest upstairs .. Talking of the pool, it is a good size and it was cleaned every morning during our stay here.. We had a room that had a small but adequate balcony, that overlooked the beach/ sea area.. The sea, in my opinion, is NOT swimable .. I say this because the rips are fast, and crashes against the rocks nearby.. The beach area itself it's a good size if you fancy a walk along it.. But be aware that in places, you do seem to sink as you walk.. The sand gives way as you tread along it.. It's a safe beach though.. No tv in rooms, and no bar facilities for a night cap, so again, if such facilities are something you require, then unfortunately here is not for your stay.. Breakfast is plate of fruit, fried eggs or omelette..toast and tea's.. Everything is cooked fresh for you.. You also have a glass of fresh fruit juice.. You can order a lunchtime snack, like fresh spring rolls, club sandwiches and suchlike.. If you wish to have a bottle of wine, then as per most countries that import it, the cost isnt cheap.. Around 25 USD..per bottle... The staff are super friendly and helpful.. This is genuinely a place to stay if its absolute peace and quiet your seeking for your stay.. We'll definitely return again if back in the area.. Now..finally...room number 7 is a end/ corner room.. So it only has a limited view of sea/ beach are.. Numbers 5 or 6 have straight onward views.. The ground floor rooms by pool, you won't see much of beach area.. But no matter which room you have, the beach is literally 1min down the garden path.. And in this garden area are more sun loungers and seating area too relax ...

Memories of the time we spent at Turtle Bay will keep us warm during a long Scottish winter. Exceptional friendly service from the whole team, Raji was particularly kind and helpful. The food was incredible and care was taken to ask our preferences for spice and seafood. Breathtaking views along a deserted beach, falling asleep listening to the gentle waves of the Indian ocean, we enjoyed the natural beauty and professional charm of the boutique hotel, we highly recommend it.

My 14 year old son and I spent two nights here at the end of a nine day hiking and exploring holiday in Sri Lanka. The staff here were amazing and the hotel ideal for us before heading back to Australia in terms of location right on the beach, cleanliness and a good menu. A game of beach cricket was the perfect end to our holiday here. We’ve had a wonderful time in Sri Lanka.
