We took over the whole b&b for a girlie weekend with friends travelling from the USA and all points in the UK. The rooms are sooooooo comfortable great beds and linen and luxury modern bathrooms. Gary and Marian are perfect hosts.

Had a lovely catch up with friends here over a cup of tea and a scone. Although it is a B&B they also do tea and coffee to none staying guests. The coffee/breakfast room is very bright and airy. The sun was shining too which was a bonus and filled the room. Excellent service and lovely fresh homemade scones.

Marian and Gary made us very welcome and at home. After saying how much we enjoyed our cooked breakfast, each morning Marian gave us a bit extra. First more bacon then extra tomatoes and mushrooms. We enjoyed the view from our bedroom and time relaxing in the courtyard chating to Gary or Marian. Thank to both of you.

Our host Marian made us feel very welcome. Her scones, cake and sandwiches were very tasty. I wish I had taken some photos, by the time I remembered, we had scoffed everything in sight. The price was very reasonable. Looking forward to a future visit. Marian is quite passionate about cake making. If you need any tips or advice about...

Called this afternoon for a pot of tea. This was fine but we were charged £5 for a pot for two. There was no menu or price list on the table so were rather shocked when she asked for £5. The day before stopped at a 40 bed hotel just a few miles away and got a pot of tea with...

I have stayed here in the past and said if ever I was passing that way again I would go back. Its ideally located as its on the boarder of Wales for my business trip. Room was clean and comfortable. I just called, with a view to making a group booking for a wedding. However, members of my party have dietary requirements that I needed to check could be catered for. My first phone call, when I asked to speak to catering or chef was 'We don't', and I was promptly hung up on. My second phone call, when I...

I receive many many phone calls asking to speak to the proprietor, the owner, the advertising manager, the chef and many more job titles. These callers do not introduce themselves to say who they are and are advertising/sales calls. This particular caller did not introduce herself, she launched straight into questions in a very demanding way giving no reason for...

What a lovely place! We were warmly welcomed on arrival, and immediately felt at home. Marion and Gary both spent time with us and nothing was too much trouble. Marion makes the most delicious cakes and runs a 'tea shop' there as well! Our room was on the top floor and huge! The bed was one of the most comfortable...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The living-room and the bedroom directly above are probably the oldest part of the house, dating back some 300 years; the rest of the building being added over the centuries. There are 2 double bedrooms with king size beds, a twin with 2 singles, and the single room has a 4 wide bed (standard single 3 wide) - comfort for the discerning guest being our main priority. All the rooms in the house have central heating and there is a constant supply of hot water. Enjoy tea or coffee with cakes in our large garden or courtyard (weather permitting), or in the living room in front of a large open fireplace. Homemade cakes and preserves a specialty of the house. The property is conveniently located for easy access to explore the Royal Forest of Dean. Resplendent in late spring, acres of bluebells cover the forest floor spilling over mounds and hugging the bases of trees. It is a wonderful place for walking, and in autumn you are rewarded with the rich reds, golds and rusts as the trees shed their leaves and await the oncoming winter. ... more   less
