Many travelers have expressed concerns about the rooms, mentioning cleanliness issues and the need for updates. We went to Secrets during its soft opening March 2020 just before the pandemic hit us all and it was not ready for guests. We were given a voucher for a return trip as the resort was not fully operational. This was our second trip to this resort. There were many improvements made from our first trip however still not up to other resort standards. This being a secrets resort you would expect more.

Our room was by the marina which was very nice and peaceful. Very spacious with a lounge area and king bed, with shower bathroom in the middle. Cleaned daily and turndown service nightly. The resort location is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL.

The resort lacks staff so it was difficult to just get coffee from room service, however there was a small coffee pot in the rooms. The staff is very accommodating and eager to please, they work very hard and work multiple positions we made sure to tip each one.

Not all the restaurants were open each day so you were limited to what to eat. The food had much to be desired, the buffet food at the marketplace was warm/cool and so many flies made it less desirable. the burgers and fries were good at the barefoot grill. The hibachi dinner at Himitsu was decent and the chef was entertaining. Olio food was ok, the atmosphere was the best part as it was outside overlooking the cove. Portofino was still not open. The marketplace was made into steakhouse during the evening which was ok. The food is definitely mediocre.

There is NO nightly entertainment. They have a guy with a guitar in the lobby bar one night and and a girl that sang the following night but same thing night after night. The daytime activities were ping pong, corn hole, and water volleyball. They had a foam party in the pool area on Saturday which was fun, they need more things like this. They need to get some sort of up beat entertainment for sure, At least play lively music by the pool during the day.

Like other resorts they should offer non motorized activities such as paddle boards, paddle bikes, kayaks etc. There was a place to rent jet skis and a place next door to go on catamaran and sailboats but there were expensive.

We rented a car and thank goodness we did, we were able to leave the resort for some fun and toured the island. There is really only one road and you can drive it with stops in a few hours. We visited Maho beach and had lunch and viewed the many beaches along the was.

Overall, there were good improvements from our first stay. The staff was limited but hardworking and pleasurable. I would not recommend this resort until improvements are made to food, entertainment and staff increase.

Secrets St Martin is set on a beautiful bay looking out at the island of Anguilla. Stunning scenery, very peaceful, and beautiful. The location does not disappoint. Your experience from there will depend on your level of being able to chill and go with the flow. This resort is recovering from a hurricane and Covid so there are some growing pains. The second best thing this resort has to offer is hard working and pleasant workers. But, there needs to be probably a doubling of staff to handle the occupancy. Shout out to Juju, Junior, Claude, Nigel who hustled like no other trying to do the work of at least 2 if not 3 people. Junior would be out raking the beach in the morning and running drinks on the beach in the afternoon. All with a smile on his face. He remembered names, he shared his personal story and listened to yours. Nigel handled rude guests who didn't want to wait their turn for drinks with professionalism and grace. Very impressive. Management is visible on property and listening to guests complain 24 hours a day. What can one be unhappy about? You are in heaven. But, they are extremely understaffed and for those guest who expect immediate attention, they are not satisfied. Many say the resort does not live up to the Secrets name. And, I believe if you go in there expecting 5 star service, 5 star food, and butler attention - you will be disappointed. If you go in expecting RIU or Barcelo quality- you will be pleased. The grumblings of guests around the resort where the big downer. But, to be fair, if you pay Secrets rates you expect Secrets quality and they are not there yet. Quality of rooms are hit and miss. We had no problems but heard others complain about poor plumbing, water pressure and water temp. Some had AC issues in their rooms -we were comfortable. There was someone entertaining every night and most nights it was enjoyable. Would I go back? Not until reviews show their staffing issues are solved. Right now they are trying to charge premium rates and run at 100% capacity with only the staff to serve at half capacity. If you get a cut off the rates, can go with plenty of patience, you will have an excellent vacation in serene surroundings.

There were 4 couples on this trip and we all knew the resort was quiet and in a very quiet area. We loved that aspect! Yes, the buildings could use a little TLC and this Secrets does not measure up to other Secrets Resorts. The scenery and staff made this stay an amazing one. There aren't as many restaurants as other AM Resorts which was a little disappointing but we made it work. Our biggest complaints were Barefoot Grill was only open one day during the whole week and the night they had dinner on the beach, there wasn't another option available. Although that dinner was very good and we enjoyed it, another restaurant should have been open for those that may not like sitting outside. Luckily for us, the resort was not full and we never had to wait.

The pool always needed to be cleaned at the one end. We would end our afternoons there and bugs were always floating in the water. It wasn't as bad by the pool bar. And the gnats! They weren't bad on the beach but the pool area! Not enjoyable!

We enjoyed the nightly entertainment. There isn't much of a nightlife but we like to call the day early (since we start way early) so this wasn't an issue for us. It would have been nice to see the entertainment team around the lobby in the evening as we have seen at other Secrets.

If you're going and considering a day off the resort, beware of taxi fares (insert scared face here). The fares are some of the highest we've paid anywhere. Although there is supposed to be a discount for more than 2 people, we did not receive it. However, we thoroughly enjoyed our day at Maho Beach! Our entire group would also recommend Captain Jo Boat Charters. It was the best day and our captains were just the most amazing people!

If you're laid back and okay with a clean resort that might need a coat of paint that sits on the most beautiful beach, you will love this resort. If you're into the sparkle and shine of a brand new, more modern resort, you may be disappointed. For us, although not perfect, it was really a great time!

My husband and I visited Secrets for our honeymoon about a month ago and we had a fantastic time. The general manager Bernard was incredible. I have never been to a resort where the GM is so present and helpful. He went above and beyond to make sure our honeymoon was perfect. Elise was also amazing. She dealt with any concern or issue we had with grace and was so accommodating,

The employees at the hotel were all lovely. We now understand why St. Maarten is called "the friendly island." At check in we mentioned to the woman at the front desk (I think her name was Janelle) that it was our honeymoon and while we were getting our information organized she had sent someone up to set up our room with a "Just Married" banner and champagne/desserts inside. So when we got to our room we were so surprised that she had organized this after only telling her a couple minutes prior that it was our honeymoon. The little details like were so appreciated and what made our stay so special.

The food was incredible and you can tell the cooks take pride in what they do. Our favourite was the hibachi restaurant and the steak restaurant was a very close second. Even the room service was delicious. When we ordered room service we always had Stanley greet us and made sure we had everything we needed. Thank you Stanley!

The location of the resort is phenomenal with the two lush green hills on either side that makes you feel like your on your own private beach. The rooms were very clean and modern. Maids frequently visit the room to tidy, stock the fridge and change towels/linens.
The entertainment staff was also great. Special shout out to German for always making sure some sort of activity was going on. All the bartenders at the lobby bar were awesome and so talented. Any drink you want...they will make it for you!

Thank you so much Bernard, Elise, and the rest of the staff at Secrets for making our honeymoon a memorable one! We will definitely be back!!

My fiancée and I have never been away outside of the US, when Secrets advertised a new property located at St Maarten , I booked based off the “Secrets reputation”
Spent 6 nights and we were forced to go out 3/6 nights for dinner . The dinner at Olio and Portofino were simply subpar. For creole night all that was edible was the mashed potatoes. By far the best meal was the Barefoot grill and the fish of the day. We paid over $500 for dinner outside for those three nights. Had dinner been excellent at Secrets , we would have happily stood on the property and saved money.
The island in itself is gorgeous. The location is beyond breathtaking and it did feel like we had the whole hotel to ourselves as we were advised 30 guests were in the property.
Many areas were closed such as the Sports Bar and restaurants. Dining was being combined to one set location which to me was such a shame. We paid good money to get away. We upgraded to the swim up marina view just to make our first trip extra memorable. In that case guests should be provided the same service whether 30 or 150 people are on the property.
Refrigerator was not stocked, I had to constantly request for items, the gyms bathroom did not have soap or towels to wipe your hands , service was not what I expected in the swim area, the main entrance has leaking issues when it rains, cans of soda left dirty in my room and water leaking in the walls. I found myself having to leave the pool to grab a drink and wait. This to me is not the Secrets type of service I heard of.
I don’t blame the service on the workers. It was clear to us they were hard, dedicated workers. They are simply being overworked with bare minimum staffing - if that is the case, I shouldn’t have to have paid full price for subpar services.
I am aware we are currently in a pandemic however , with thirty guests there is plenty of room to space the guests that are on the property maintaining COVID protocols. Zero entertainment at night, the pool solely had 1 swim instructor , Margerita , who was excellent .
Preferred club has two bartenders , Annie and Pipo who in my eyes, are star employees. They care, we’re attentive and so, so kind. They made amazing drinks and went over and beyond each and every night we visited.
Went on an island tour with Vinny. He was wonderful - if you can book Vinny through Amstar. We left out phone in our room , not only did he offer to take photos of us but he sent it immediately so we can share with our family and friends.
This trip was no where near what I envisioned. I will never revisit Secrets nor recommended to colleague and friends. I have attached photos below to show you the condition.
Do yourself a favor , save your hard earned money and spend it at a location that truly values their guests.

The island/resort are absolutely beautiful! The views from just the taxi ride provided by amstar were amazing. It’s about a 30 min trip from airport to resort.

As UVC members we booked a preferred king swimout, upon arrival they did not upgrade us or entertain the idea when asked. They eventually gave in and upgraded us, but not without a big fight. They (Esteban and Jose) tried to lie about the upgrade rooms. Seems like the general mangers of the resort are reluctant to upgrade the UVC members unless pressured.
Water pressure in room is horrible (from what we heard it’s all rooms)
No drying hair in bathroom, outlets not equipped. Must dry at the mini bar.
Fridge feels like there gonna explode cause the ventilation in cabinetry.
Jacuzzi in main area is not working

Ok so enough about that.... Staff is amazing!!!! Everyone is super hardworking and nice, they are trying their best with limited resources. Notable employees: Janelle at the front lobby who should actually be the general manager! She runs the show, does it all( no seriously) was super accommodating during our room upgrade. She made sure we were comfortable and taken care of. She is wonderful and caring. Rolinda at the pool bar is an amazing worker who makes sure your cup is never empty, always with a smile on her face. Sunshine the pool manager is super friendly and a great source of information on the island.. he’s the guy you need if you need anything. All together the entire staff was amazing!!

Restaurants: food was amazing shout-out to chef Bruno and team!! Just be aware resort was fully opened however upon arrival we learned that only 1-2 restaurants were open at night (assuming due to only 60 people being at the resort at the time). Hibachi.. there is none apparently they are still looking for the chef.

General managers: The fake and phony Esteban and Jose who walk around like royalty on the resort but really don’t do much. Both super nice at first but once they tried to downgrade our room and tell us the marina suites were not available, turns out they were available and just lied. Magically after our fight our room was ready( 10 mins later) and multiple swim out Mariana rooms were occupied the next day.

All in all it was an amazing trip, location, food and staff are 5 star!!! Knowing this is a new resort, we have faith the kinks will be out in no time! We will definitely be back.

Closing note: Janelle for General Manager!! she really deserves it!!

Stayed at resort for 8 days 7 nights to celebrate my birthday with 8 friends who flew in from different parts of the US and it was a delightful experience. I arranged ahead of time a private dinner party, which is an additional cost but well worth it. Lesa was the event coordinator who communicated with me every step of the way in planning to ensure I had everything I wanted. She is excellent at what she does.

I had a plated waiter service sunset dinner on the roof top Terrance with DJ, decorated table settings, open bar with dedicated Bar Tender, cake, it was magical.

The resort is beautiful and clean with a great beach. Never a problem with beach chairs or fresh towels, you didn’t have to go down and reserve a seat early in the morning like some resorts. The staff is 2nd to none in providing attention and service to guest. From the omelet lady at the buffet, wait staff, check in, bartenders, went always pleasant. I must give a special thank you and shout out to Mimi. She is every where every day doing everything…she is amazing. She ensured we had space for the 8 of us for dinner at the restaurants including the Hibachi. Room Service and 24 hour snack bar good. My fridge and room snack bar refilled every day.

Other than Lesa and Mimi, I want to recognize the following: Alain, Kenny, Elisha, Baxter, Quincy, and Jose. (Jose don’t forget the cc credit I await from your accounting department) Last but not least the Bernard the General Manager that made himself known and available and was always checking in to see if we needed something.

Note to Bernard: Improve the Preferred Club so it mimic’s Preferred Clubs at other Secretes Resorts I visited. It didn’t really offer anything special or upgraded for those of us who paid the Preferred Club prices. Though the staff in the club were fabulous.

My husband and I recently spent a week at Secrets, St Martin. We read some of the negative reviews and were concerned about our trip. Our experience and time at Secrets, however, was extremely positive! We had beautiful weather, great meals, and exceptional care from staff at Secrets. The pool was beautiful. and lounge chairs were easily available. Our room on the 3rd floor had a partial view of the bay which we greatly enjoyed. There was no loud noise at night for which my husband was very grateful!

We were impressed that the manager was seen in and around the resort (not always in an office) - we even got directions to the spa from him on our arrival day. Avril did a great job of caring for our room and keeping items we liked well stocked. At the Market Cafe, we had super service from Evelyn, Charmen, Ivan, and Shemer to name a few. The guys at Himitsu were great too!! Mr. Sunshine at the pool/towel shed was a great storyteller and a kind soul. Bruno, the chef, was hard working and eager to have folks enjoy the great food. We were very pleased with the fresh fruit, variety of veggie selections, and the fish dishes!! Michelle at the front desk was very helpful with our Covid tests as was Kamey from Careaway Health.

We did not experience any negative interactions with staff - everyone with whom we came in contact was eager to help and friendly. This vacation was our first since the Covid pandemic. We were incredibly grateful for the clean, beautiful surroundings of Secrets, St Martin and for the warm and welcoming response from the staff. Thank you so much!!

Tucked away in the mountain. The beach is clean and beautiful with very calm water. The staff was incredible! Juju and Frandy made our time at the beach exceptional. They played the best music and kept the drinks coming! German and Margarita kept us dancing by the pool side. For nightlife, Eugene and Ivan were so much fun! We did karaoke and danced the night away to authentic Caribbean music. Dominic was my absolute favorite bartender. He was so warm and fun and made the best specialty drinks! The resort was ok - the pool was slippery so be careful going in and out, the bedroom pools could use some more cleaning, the cold water spa plunge pool can also be cleaned more. Every detail was overlooked because of the amazing staff - they all deserve a raise!

We are at Secrets St Martin. It is on the French side of the Island. This resort was all but destroyed in 2017 by hurricane Irma. (I’ve included 2 photos of the “before reconstruction”) The entire island suffered greatly. Coming here and knowing the history made me view the resort in a different light. We drove from the Princess Julianna Airport and saw reconstruction of different areas, but other areas still in ruin. Once we arrived at the resort everyone was just so sweet. It’s a much smaller property and the rooms are small but very comfortable. We had a swim out and really enjoyed it. Everything is very compact easily accessible. Due to Covid the resort was at reduced capacity making it necessary to have the four restaurants to alternate nights open. (2 each night)The staff also alternate restaurants so you may see them in Himitsu one night and Portifino the next.
With less guests, the night life was much lower key. If you are a 30 something looking for a party place, this is not for you. But, if you enjoy a laid back group playing the Eagles, Garth Brooks, doobie brothers and classic rock you’ll enjoy yourself.
We never had to hunt for a beach chair at the pool or beach, which I loved. The beach is narrow and very easy to access. The water was crystal clear without seaweed. There are lots of yachts anchored out from the beach. Seeing the mountain tops around you as you stroll the beach makes for some gorgeous sunsets.
We took advantage of the spa and with our 25% preferred members discount got one of the best massages I have ever had. (Ask for Gina)
We got a rental car at the Airport for $250/week and we’re glad we did. We took day trips all over the island. Especially loved shopping in Phillipsburg.
While I do not like that UVC has this as a 2/1 resort, I’m sure they’re trying to recoup some of the money’s it took to restore the resort. All in all we are loving our stay, but it’s more about the island than the resort. St Martin is such a special place.

We were at Secrets in December. It is in a secluded area so if you wish to tour at all a car is a great idea (for how ever many days you wish). There is a car rental at the resort but obviously there would be more choices at the airport....ihowever, f getting for a day or two we would suggest booking at the resort itself. The island is quite hilly so a scooter would not be a great idea. Enjoy. It is a lovely island.

No escuché hablar español, pero creo que al menos algunos miembros del personal hablan 3 o 4 idiomas, de los cuales el español sería uno. Espero que esto ayude.
