Solar Eclipse 2017!! My little family and I spent another long weekend at Cataloochee and it was the best yet. Gorgeous weather all weekend long without a single drop of rain and you have no idea how exciting that is by itself. We had site...More

This is a lovely, small, secluded campground. Try to get a spot where you can see or hear the stream that rushes through. There is lots of hiking nearby, but be prepared to drive if you want to see the park's highlights. As for modern...More

This is a separate campground from the "regular" campground down the road but is in the same park. By far the most well maintained campground I have been to for a state/national park. There are 3 sites (minimum of 7 people to book). Two sites...More

We camped in our tent at site 21 which was large and well maintained. The site and tent pad were level, the fire ring was in good shape and had a grate, and the picnic table had plastic boards on metal frame. The sites are...More

We stayed overnight in the quiet peaceful campground. The ranger was very helpful and kept a good eye on the campground. We saw many elk and Turkey in the fields and once in our campground. Many great trailheads. We fished a little with no luck...More

There are a pair of gas stations on U.S. 276 (NC Exit 20 off of I-40). It's not all that close though...still have about 30 minutes to drive to get to the campground from there.

Yes, absolutely.. In fact, some of the best trout fishing in the park is found in the river adjacent to the cataloochee campground. Must have a tennessee or nc fishing license.. Enjoy
