I had wanted to stay in this castle for more than 20 years, and the reality surpassed my expectations. The imagination, detail, finesse, artistry, style, historical accuracy of the rooms - simply breathtaking. Nicholas and Philippa have amazing energy and their vision has been 26 years in the making thus far. Every single room has something to admire...worth a journey!

We have stayed at Tennessus a few times over the years, and the owners have turned this remarkable 13th century castle in to a superb place to stay. Totally authentic, yet warm, comfortable and homely. Live like a king and queen for a day or two and imagine what life might have been like in medieval times...

Spent one night at the chateau and wish we could have spent more. The hosts went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We had plans to get up early and check out, but changed those plans to allow more time. We spent the morning exploring the garden, relaxing and rowing a boat in the moat....

Totally worth the side trip. What a fun place to sleep in - it's a legit medieval castle with a moat!! The entire place it well decorated and the rooms were great. The hosts were out of town but a friend met us and served us breakfast the next day - Sandrine was great!!! It was such a fun time.

Unbelievable experience. So much work has gone into re-building this old Chateau and the atmosphere is well worth it. Breakfast was special for the food and experience, the gluten free bread (thank you Philippa) was excellent. One of the highlights of our holiday, a must see.

The amount of work that went into the restoration of this chateau is astounding. It's by far the best place we stayed on a recent trip to France. Fascinating history, great breakfasts, unique rooms, swimming pool, moat with a boat, croquet, animals, gardens, and many places of interest nearby.

We stayed in the room of the knights on July 12 . What a great experience! The room is clean and very well decorated . The bathroom is small but everything is there. The surroundings of the castle are peaceful and pleasant . We knew there were other people in the castle but there is so much space that one...

The Castle is a lovely characterful and very interesting place to stay, Philippa is very friendly and helpful, her enthusiasm for the castle and loving restoration of it is clear. Loved our visit to this medieval chateau, we stayed at the top of the tower in an enormous room, authentically decorated by the owner Philipa and family. Fascinating place, quiet location but local to some lovely chateaux and wineries to visit. Great breakfast, attention to detail was greatly appreciated (she even made my husband gluten free bread). Definitely would recommend...
