Xinalani is one of Mexico's premier retreat centers. We offer a wide range of activities related to health, fitness and fun, in an environmental friendly setting. We have 33 guest rooms in the jungle, a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner (fixed menu, 3 meals included in fare), a beachfront lounge bar, a beach club, 5 fully equipped yoga spaces, a spa with a complete array of massages and treatments, and a little souvenir store. Our 4 acre pristine beach front property is solely accessible by boat.
Star ratings are intended to indicate the general level of features, amenities, and services to expect. This property is classified according to Giata.
Xinalani is a unique eco resort wedged in between the rainforest near Puerto Vallarta and the beautiful clear water private beach below it. The 45 min boat ride from the PV marina takes you not just away from the commercial experience of the main tourist town but also to a more relaxing and pristine atmosphere. The staff especially the check front desk staff like Anahy, dining room folks Luis Fernando and Briseda (who went out of their way to get us the policino -Mexican sugarcane- we loved to go with us!), Paulina, Oscar, the friendly bar and spa staff and the efficient housekeeping staff who got everything just so in the morning cleanups and for evening turndowns, and even the competent porters and boatmen who took us and our luggage back and forth to the airport were so hospitable and friendly with easy smiles and a conscientious manner. The magical aerial yoga class with Gerry on our first morning there left us with a special memory. So did the simple but fun hike through Quimixto village and nearby jungle to the local waterfall. The all inclusive freshly made from scratch mostly plant based meals and fresh local seafood add to the sense of well-being and contentment while you are there. So do the frequent sightings of wildlife including several tropical and sea birds give you a feeling of being close to nature while still living in the comfort of a ecologically friendly resort suite with AC and ocean views and in room hammock swing! Xinalani, we will be back!

I hosted a retreat at the Xinalani and it exceeded my expectations as well as my groups expectations. The staff made us feel like family, the beds and pillows were amazing, the food was so fresh and clean and the variety of yoga studios were an additional treat. The location for everyone to see and hear the sounds of the ocean make it pure magic. We have already booked our next retreat there and will be regulars.

I stayed here as part of a group retreat. Besides the expected quality of location, eco vibe and amenities, there were 3 things that stood out most to make my vacation so great. The first was the friendliness of the staff. Fancy beach views, clean water and nice working toilets are great and expected at a place like this, but it the kindness and charisma of each and every staff member that blew me away. From the daily greetings (some even daily greets by name!) to their work ethic and humor, I felt a connection that rose above their natural servitude.
Secondly, the FOOD. Wow. I cried at the last meal at the pleasure of being able to taste such beautiful, and healthy cuisine. The two women who make all of the food are seriously so incredibly talented. I do worry about food waste as a lover of the planet and I am not sure what is done with the food after the meals since it’s buffet style. I hope as an eco resort in a tiny community that something mindful is done here. Either way, I was blown away by the cuisine and recommend this place simply for that.
Third, the excursions/activities that were recommended and able to be added on via the resort were top notch. Our group did the temezcal sweat hut, which was life changing, the shaman and assistants were amazing. It was an actual challenge though, so those who don’t like intense, challenging experiences beware. We did a zip line tour which was so much fun. And we also did 2 other hikes through the jungle/along the coast. Our guide Kimi was hands down, the best guide I’ve ever had for any tour or excursion ever. So much knowledge about the area, bugs/animals, the land, the ecosystem, the community, and the way of life. A genuine care for us as people, not simply just a wise guide. And at the bare minimum, a care for our safety, letting us know the risks/dangers to keep us as safe as possible while pushing us outside of our comfort zone, learning while we explore, making for the best time ever. The colomitos and waterfall tours are two tours I will never ever forget. The waterfall tour day I can easily say was one of the best days of my life. So absolutely special. I have Kimi to thank wholeheartedly.
There are too many names/people to list that made this experience as beautiful as it was. But I am forever grateful for them all. The amenities were great, but the people truly made this experience one of a kind. I cannot wait to return to this beautiful place and highly recommend Xinalani as a place to explore cuisine, relaxation, learning, adventure and life, through its beautiful people.

The staff were all very kind, friendly, and happy to allow me to practice my poor Spanish on them. The food was a treat: they did a great job providing a variety of delicious dishes at every meal, with lots of vegetarian and dairy-free options. I took a couple of nature excursions which were fun if you like hiking and boating: a hike to a local waterfall, and a whale-watching trip. Our guide for both of those, Quimi (sp?), was exceptionally engaging, fun, and eager to share his considerable knowledge of local plant and animal life with us. I don't do yoga, so while my spouse was doing her classes, I spent my time reading and doing creative work on my computer in our private room, which I enjoyed very much. I found out towards the end of my stay how easy it is to order a piña colada at the bar and have it charged to my room....

This place was a dream. Go in the winter months when it is less humid. December through March are the best. The activities were awesome, the room was a dream, and the three meals a day were delicious. I miss the fresh tropical fruit each morning, the chilequilas and the fresh squeezed juice. We did a few yoga classes there. My husband does not do yoga but he still enjoyed this beautiful resort. The view is breathtaking, the sound of the ocean at night and the amazing staff. They were all so helpful and so welcoming. If you go, make sure to book activities they offer. We did snorkeling, a day boat ride to Yelapa, hike to a waterfall, seafood lunch, whale watching, cocoa ceremony, cooking classes, day in puerto vallarta shopping etc. Wow! it was just fabulous. Hope to come back again same time next year. We visited December 5-10th. We enjoyed the Eco Suite room as it was closer to the dining area and not too many steps up but no matter which room you get you will have breathtaking views. Thank you Cierra and Kimmie and all the chefs for making our stay so memorable.

I came here from Canada for a week over New Years. I was looking for a small, secluded retreat where I could find peace, be active and healthy, and feel safe during the pandemic. Xinalani was amazing for this, and exceeded my expectations.
At first I was a bit nervous at first, as most guests dont wear masks, but all of the staff wear them, and I appreciated there efforts. The entire retreat is very clean, even the open air yoga studios did not have a speck of dust, and appeared to be cleaned after every session.
The yoga sessions were great: every two days there was a different instructor. I took a surfing lesson, and went surfing a couple times on my own. There is a really consistent left break, and there a local beach houses for surfers. It's not a crowded break, at most there was 20 surfers but that was an unusually popular day because the swells were massive. Usually between 2-6 surfers out there so plenty of waves to catch. Although I am a beginner, the board selection is limited to heavy long boards, and my leash would often disengage due to to the weight of the board. That was my only picky thing here.
I was a solo traveler, and met a few other solos here. Everyone is chill, and socialize if they want to, or be alone without feeling pressure. The locals are friendly as well. Next time I need a quiet place to go, I will be coming back here. I had the Deluxe Room, open views to the the ocean. I will probably splurge a little and get a Casita next time because it has an ocean view hottub.

Wonderful Days Yoga Retreat comfortable bedroom without air conditioning had no windows which let in the sea breeze making for a pleasant sleeping temperature. Lunch breakfasts varied and very rich dinners. friendly dining staff willing to help Bar excellent service My only criticism is that a friend fell down the stairs at reception. We asked for ice and they gave us a ziplock with ice. I think in such a remote place where there is no medical post. They should have more first aid products and be better equipped.

I had a wonderful time. The location was special with a private beach on the edge of the jungle in Quimixto. The food was fresh and delicious with vegan and gluten free options. The service was above and beyond and the resort was so clean. I loved doing yoga twice daily with our group’s hostesses, Gena and Stacy. Seeing a pod of Humpback whales in the bay was a highlight as well as participating in the sweat lodge. I learned so much about the wildlife and history of the village by going on the excursions with our tour guide, Kimi. I have never felt so connected to nature, in tune with my body, and a part of such a harmonious group of people.

With ocean views from every room, the bar, pool, and restaurant, the sounds of the waves immediately soothe your soul. The staff is warm and attentive, making you feel right at home. At Xinalani, there’s a range of excursions for every type of traveler—from thrill-seekers to poolside loungers. This year, we did the dolphin excursion with Kimee, whose infectious spirit and deep knowledge of marine life made the experience unforgettable! I love how Xinalani combines rustic charm with all the essential comforts for a truly relaxing stay. The food is exceptional!

Xinalani was everything my husband and I had hoped for. Probably our two most favorite things about this place is 1. The staff 2. The food. Of course being in such a beautiful part of the world in a serene resort is a plus :)
The staff went the extra mile in accommodating us and asking us daily how we were doing. We aren’t used to the humidity (went in June) and they brought additional fans up to our yoga studio and supplied us with ample bug spray each day. They did extra little things that kept us so happy and comfortable, and we appreciated that so much. Always warm and friendly.
The food! Manuel is one hell of a chef. We looked forward to every single meal and it was the best Mexican food we have had. So fresh, healthy, and innovative. They even made fresh tortillas live one night for tacos. It was such a treat.
I loved xinalani’s philosophy of not disturbing nature, and their constant focus on being eco friendly. Waking up every morning and drinking coffee with small snacks (yogurt with fruit, small pastries) and opening up the body and mind with yoga was so therapeutic. Our instructor, Jerry was such a positive ray of sunshine and so wonderful to learn from.
Would absolutely return! Thank you Xinalani!

Yes! It is super chill There are 2 bathrooms in the room with showers. If you are the shy type and would rather not there are other toilets around. At night you have netting over your bed so you are in a private cocoon. People are as engaging as you want to be was my experience. All in all it was very enjoyable.
The mosquitoes were bad when we went (June) and I believe are bad through the rainy season. As long as we had repellent with deet they didn’t bother us. I would go in the non-rainy season when they aren’t prevalent.
Hi Baxbb,
The Deluxe rooms are our entry level rooms, they have 1 double bed or 2 single beds, private bathroom, indoor balcony and ocean view.
The Eco Chic Suites have more space, they have 1 King size bed or 2 Double beds, balcony with hammock, private bathroom and ocean view.
I hope that this information will be of help.
Best regards,
Carolina
