The Occidental Mar Menor hotel (Barcelo group) has just opened under this brand.
It is isolated, and therefore quiet.
Its facilities are recent, of good quality and well maintained.
The rooms are spacious, equipped with a mini fridge, with beautiful terraces which all overlook the swimming pool (two chairs and a table upstairs (with a view of the Menor sea), in addition to sun loungers for the rooms of the ground floor).
The shower room is large, with a beautiful walk-in shower.
Very good and comfortable bedding with a memory foam mattress.
Very good insulation.
The housekeeping is well done.
Air conditioning is easy to use and quiet
Three swimming pools, an Olympic swimming pool with a depth of 1.52 m, another with a depth of 1.32 m and a children's pool with a depth of 0.40 m
Equipment is provided for people with reduced mobility.

As the establishment is not very large, there is always room around the swimming pool.
Small, very friendly entertainment team. The clientele is largely, even exclusively, Spanish.
The beach is 200 m away.

The products served in the restaurant are very fresh and very well prepared. The proposals are varied every day. The service is very good and very friendly.
The restaurant is open from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., then from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., and finally from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
It is preferable to favor the beginning of the service, which is not very busy.
The All In formula is mainly provided during the day by two food trucks installed by the swimming pools. The offer is very alcohol-oriented and can be improved for the rest.
A bar is open on the terrace from 8 p.m. to midnight.
The hotel is also equipped with a gym with the latest generation equipment, open from 7 a.m.
The hotel management is very attentive and attentive.

In summary, it is a beautiful structure, perfect for resting and spending a moment of relaxation, with a great catering offer.

The First Impression when traveling through the hotel is that you can see that it is new, everything is in perfect condition and glad to make use of all the facilities. Wide and wide of all sections, from the large parking lot, the corridors and especially the pool area, certainly the one we liked the most given the large space and large number of hammocks, umbrellas, tables and pools. In general unmassed area as often happens in other hotels where we could be very comfortable all the family. A lot of tranquility gives that and it is totally relaxing to be in the Olympic pool, much clearer than the other dedicated to activities.

The very attentive and pleasant staff, from the lifeguard, through the girls from Reception to the people from the dining room, everything was friendly and good faces, which is appreciated seeing how the hospitality is in other places currently, you can see that the chain shapes its staff well. The food although very good is true that it was one rung below the high quality of other hotels in the BarcelĆ³ chain that we have visited on other occasions. It is a point where they can strive to keep improving. On the contrary, the fact that drinks are included is an incentive that improves the stay.

The spacious and correct rooms, with large balcony although simple views, simply to the urbanization. Reservation was on the side of the hotel, next to the tennis courts. To put a ā€œbutā€, that area should be monitored somewhat more, for example by putting the air conditioning in the common areas, since although it is in another building it is still part of the hotel.
About the surroundings perhaps the great deficit of the hotel is that there is no nearby beach bathing, given the dismal state of the Mar Menor (although this is not the fault of the Hotel, logically). It is time to travel to beaches that are about 20 minutes by car, and we recommend the Levante Beach of Cabo de Palos, worth its cleanliness, fine sand and crystal clear waters.

In general a good hotel of rest and relaxation that is designed "resort" style and if you continue in this line improving details (something more animation, perhaps bus to the beach, adjust something the high prices of the chiringuito...) will surely be a reference in the area.

My partner and I stayed at the hotel with the all-inclusive, I am going to tell our experience separating it by areas.
-Exteriors: there are only houses, to go to a tobacconist, fafmacia, supermarket you have to take the car for 5 minutes. The beach is not to go with thinking of a beach at 200m. We were going to rest so we knew in advance and we were not going to go out.
-Reception: everyone was very friendly and explained everything to us.
- Room: it is spacious, modern furniture and the bed has a mattress topper. I highlight Susana as the maid since she was the one who left our room spotless.
- Restaurant: I highlight the freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast since this is no longer seen in hotels and I liked it a lot. There is not much variety at both lunch and dinner but they were dishes that you do not usually see in other hotels and it is very good. The head chef was very attentive and I also want to highlight Pablo who, if you had any questions, explained everything in great detail, a charm.
- Swimming pool: it has 3 swimming pools that are very good, the central one is where they carry out some entertainment activities. We saw that there were 2 boys and 2 girls in the entertainment but I highlight the girls BelƩn and Lidia for their kindness, work and desire since the others were not seen in the morning and only at night to be a DJ sitting while they They danced with the little ones.
-All inclusive: drinks are branded. At the pool there is a very nice van to go and order but it is too small for the people who go with the all-inclusive. The boy ran out of ice and drinks and a lot of time passed from the time he called until they came. Manuel is a sweetheart and he takes it as best as he can and serves those who ask for things that he does have while the others wait. The morning snack is just one thing, either you like it or you can't eat anything, at least two options. The snack was complete: sausage, bread, pastries, fruit, coffee... At meals you serve yourself whatever you want.
-Sea terrace: it is a terrace to have a drink at night, the waiters are very friendly and you only hear music that the entertainer plays, there is no other type of entertainment.
PROS: It is a quiet hotel since it is not yet overcrowded due to being newly opened, the friendliness of the staff in general, highlighting that the director and deputy director were in the hotel every day checking and seeing that everything works. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The food is good and the pools are very good.
CONS: lack of restaurant staff in the pool area, even if it is to replace the boy, low entertainment, zero all-inclusive snack.

Hotel to rest and disconnect, 100% recommended. We have stayed 6 nights with half board and we are super happy, the staff is super attentive and friendly (with the exception of the guy at reception ā€œhe was not a waste of friendlinessā€), we would like to mention all the staff in the restaurant area, charming, the cleaners , and in particular ā€œPepiā€ who leaves the room spotless and is super nice as a person. Large and new facilities, you can see that they are trying to take care of them for a short time now, we have enjoyed the gym which is great, quiet and large pools... to put a but, the location since we really like the beach and not being able to access it is a problem, but we knew about it and in 10 minutes we were in very beautiful places. In conclusion, a place to disconnect and rest without a doubt highly recommended! We will repeat ā˜ŗļø

Holiday stay
Today we leave after a week.
Upon arrival we were given a sheet with all the information.
We arrived on a Saturday, and it was day Tuesday and no one had come to clean the room or change towels, he directs me on Monday night to indicate, I was informed, that if they had passed situation that was not so.
On Monday we went in after 3pm to take a nap and it was just as we left it.
On Tuesday at 3.30pm I went back to the reception desk as they had not passed through room 145, the receptionist in flat mode told me that the cleaning was until 1600h in the afternoon.
Situation that was not first communicated to us, when entering and the documentation provided to me is clear:" indicates that the cleaning was every day from 9am to 14:00."
That day we had to nap my husband and I in the sun loungers of the pools because if we went in to nap at 15:00h no one cleaned the room...
Which 4 star hotel šŸŒŸ clean the rooms at 16h in the afternoon?
At nap time?
We are in Spain and all our lives nap is from 14:00h.
I do not hold the cleaning girl responsible much do they, if not their manager coordinate better and if they do not have sufficient staff, hire that there are many people eager to work.
Good food, great dining service by the boys and girls, definitely your urgent attention

The spacious facilities, in our room there was an unbearable smell, impossible to sleep, a horrible smell flowed from the pipes, you had to sleep with the terrace open.

For the bad smell to come out so, with open terraces the air conditioning could not be put, one of heat and bad smell...

The TV šŸ“ŗ every 3 minutes turned off, we also could not see at night something in conditions.

Anyway...

Very dedicated girls in dynamics towards children.

They should have animation with adult music, normal...

The food had more variety, was almost toso very repetitive, except for Friday that was Mexican themed.

The drinks instead of your cart, and a single person attending, should be something broader, the poor boys juggling to take out the line they are formed to consume and one in the sun waiting eternally...

E been to other Barcelo hotels and I can say that I could improve in many aspects, especially the customer service both at check-in and check-out , that the customer really feels like coming back or a simple thank you for choosing that hotel from many that exist today....

A simple suggestion.

Which any 4-star hotel would.

Greetings

We have been staying with family. The day we arrived the room was full of hairs on the floor and over the bed sheets, we communicated and solved. The terrace was also very dirty and they gave a clean without moving the furniture.
The same day at night a spider appeared on my pillow.
The next day the terrace was full of stones and herbs because they had fixed the garden, and did not clean it in the cleaning service, I had to ask again.
Third day, I ask again that I lack towels and that they check the cleaning because there are hairs in the bathroom since we arrived and still do not clean it.... I see the governor is going and the room is already cleaner...
Fourth day, my children pull out of the sofa bed next to their mattress intimate clothes of the previous guests? Because it was not mine haha I prefer to take it laughing but anyway, no comment.
Otherwise very basic food, without variety or quality. Cleanliness of the Dining Room and common areas poor... I saw ants from the coffee machine, dirty plates, dirty glasses... You had to select to find something clean to eat
In short, it's the worst hotel in the chain we've stayed at and far below any other beach/all inclusive hotel we've been to and I don't recommend it at all.

Retired hotel.Beach closed, bathing prohibited.Lack of night entertainment. The "T.I." is only drinks. The pools are surrounded by cement, it seems like you are in an airport.Either you have a car or you have nothing around. At night there is no entertainment or shows, you are on a terrace outside at 32Ā° degrees sweating bullets. In your room you have a refrigerator, but it is just for decoration, they don't even give you a bottle of water, despite going all inclusive. There are two vans at the pools, but they only serve drinks, no hamburgers, salad dogs, only drinks. That's the "T.I." At 3:00 p.m., the room had still not been cleaned. The wifi and TV had many cuts. The price was excellent. The location was terrible. The kitchen was a "10". The meter and LucĆa (the area manager) were a "10".The lifeguards a "10".The deputy director a "10". "Basic" reception. Cleanliness a "5", because there may be many rooms and few staff. Pool and meal times, a "10". Saying my opinion I return to the hotel, keeping quiet, I don't go anymore. Suggestion: more green and less cement.

Great bedroom, and balcony with a view over the three swimming pools to palm trees, the Mar Menor and La Manga.
Hotel was immaculate, restaurant, food and service all excellent.
Swam in the olympic pool everyday and played tennis a couple of times.
Evening disco in the cocktail bar was an ok way to end the evening.
The hotel was unique to us because we found it by accident two years ago when walking from Los Alcazares to Los Urrutias. It had been closed for some time, the pools were empty and weeds growing everywhere, yet it still looked magnificent. So we said we would come and stay if it opened again.
It it also unique because it must be the cheapest hotel of the 99 Barcelo hotels in Spain. We stayed for four days, in a superior room, full board, with unlimited wine at lunch and dinner for just 424 Euros. Now that is just incredible value.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are buffet, the worst buffet of my trips and I have been traveling for 25 years (2 a year), not appropriate for elderly people, dairy products are scarce, there is no vegetable milk either, little variety of vegetables, They put potatoes in everything. Very badly!! The rooms are good, spacious and comfortable, the staff is very nice, attentive and helpful. The location of the hotel is disastrous, the hotel is isolated from everything, in the middle of nowhere, there is no means of communication to the town, you have to walk and it only has a pharmacy, supermarket and a Chinese. Not recommended!9

Hotel located far from La Manga, if you are looking for a beach, you have to drive about 15 minutes, the beach next door, fatal with algae and jellyfish. Relaxation, tranquility, everything nice (not new as they tell you, it is renovated) in general good everything with good and varied food, large swimming pools, attention from the staff in general good but rooms with regular cleaning, the sheets were not changed in the week we were there Yes, the towels are provided almost every day and many details in the room, the beds are great and appreciate the terrace with a clothesline. Sea terrace hours are very short and we miss activities at night and more entertainment, although the girls Lydia and BelƩn are great, their colleagues are nothing. Queues at the Food Truck at the pool to order and more or less friendly waiters, in addition, they closed very early, 2 hours before the pool closed and the ice melted very quickly, also in the all-inclusive there was a snack and we had two days just .Note that there is free parking at the door. And in general everything is fine although there is a lot of polishing to be done but it is advisable to go in disconnection mode and not leave the hotel

I did not see any sewage in the sea. However, according to the staff I was chatting to - when its windy, the silt, etc gets stirred up and causes the sea to become dark brown, but when it is still and the silt then sinks to the bottom, then it does get smelly. Yes, the flies and mosquitos are everywhere, despite Neilson spraying throughout the hotel complex.
