This motel is perfectly located within 100m of the sand seashore on Curio Bay. The owner was welcoming and offered suggestions for dining and sightseeing. Our room had a kitchenette and was clean. I know bed softness is a matter of opinion, but our queen bed was not comfortable because it was too soft and sloping towards the center.

Thank you for your review, I am sorry you found the bed uncomfortable and thank you for letting us know, without your input we would have no idea that the bed needed to be replaced.

It was our most amazing weekend away. Absolutely stunning and breathtaking. We enjoyed every moment at curio bay and at the Salthouse. Carol was an amazing hostess while Val was not there. No doubt we will be back.

Far better than we expected, very clean beautiful rooms (lovely decor) and extremely well equipped. We were right on the beach and in the early morning saw some dolphins swim past. There is no shops close by so you will need to bring your own supplies but it has an extremely well equipped kitchen with everything you need/want supplied. The...

We stayed here for one night on a catlins tour. This place is very clean, you have a large bathroom with excellent shower! Comfy queen bed and a dining table with some lounge chairs too. Also a well equipped kitchen! No oven but microwave, large electric fry pan and two bench top cooking elements. We managed to cook a whole...

It is a great place and it was by accident that we ended up in this place but was the best experience out of our trip to the Bluff and Catlins from Dunedin. The owners were very friendly and helped us even with some food since we did not have any with us and was too late to go for...

You literally step out of your unit, cross the small lawn and then you are just about on the beach, it is that close. The weather was quite wild for the days we were at Curio Bay, but we were very snug and warm in our unit. The unit was clean and comfortable with a great shower. There are no...

Our generous sized room included a full kitchen, large bathroom and sitting area, which, as the location is quite isolated, would be very handy if you were staying a few days. Val, our host, was helpful and friendly, giving directions to nearby natural attractions. The rooms are right behind the beach, with uninterrupted views across the bay and stunning sunrises.

The property is right on one of the most stunning bays in New Zealand. Val was extremely helpful and friendly and the studios were immaculately clean and well appointed. What spoilt it for us was the paper thin walls and the constant intrusion of noise from the next unit and the loud footsteps and thumping on the ceiling from the...

Imagine stepping out of your unit and seeing hectors Dolphins straight out in front playing in the surf. Amazing. Beautiful immaculate unit which was comfortable and a pleasure to stay at. Hosts were helpful friendly and knowledgeable and I would warmly recommend this accommodation to all travellers to the area.

We were driving and had no accommodation booked. We searched for options online and found this name. While it is called a "motel" what we found at the address given was not what we were expecting. It seemed to be a nice large single family home. We rang the doorbell to see if we were at the right place. Val,...
