Albaricoques Rural¨ is located inside Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park. Our 7 country cottages are a unique place to enjoy a few days of rest and tranquility, with a privileged location in a natural setting among almond and olive trees. Each country cottage has a living room-kitchen , bedroom, bathroom and exterior terrace with garden furniture. The architectural style of our villa found its inspiration in the Catalan architect, Josep Lluis Sert, as reflected in his book ¨ SERT: Mediterranean Architecture. Our desire was to create a space that would be in harmony with the natural environment, and we therefore adapted our design to showcase the existing almond and olive trees already on the property before our arrival, respecting and nurturing each and every one of them. The cottages reflect a typical Mediterranean style. In our design we have sought simplicity and beauty on one hand, and practicality and comfort on the other. There is a harmonious intermingling of local stone with noble woods, and clay floors with the brilliant whitewashed walls of the buildings. Extreme care was taken with each and every detail in design and decoration. Another main objective of our project has been compliance with the highest standards in sustainability, natural resources management and recycling, through the use of alternative energy and all that the use of new technology can contribute to the project. We have thus been able to provide the buildings with sanitary hot water and radiant floor heating by using solar energy, and we were also able to design a system that allows us to recycle 100% of an extremely scarce and vital resource, especially in this geographical area, which is water, through a purification process carried out by means of bacteria as opposed to the use of chemicals and through its subsequent use for the watering of trees and plants all around the villa.

We spent an amazing weekend at this spot. So much character and detail. The management is helpful and took care of us. Would recommend!! Beaches are close by. Many local adventures to be had. Scenes from the Good the Bad and the Ugly close by!

We stayed here recently to take a week off in the south of Spain. We were recommended the Albaricoques Rural by a friend who had been there the year before. It was one if the most relaxing holidays I have had in a long time. The Bungalows are set amongst olive trees. Each has it’s own terrace. They are simple but done with charme and gusto. Bed, shower and kitchenette were clean and well equipped. Gonzalo, the owner made us feel welcome right from the beginning. He has travelled lots himself and was an entertaining host but also left us alone to enjoy our stay. We enjoyed candle lit dinners until late in the evenings out on our private patio. The surroundings are simply stunning. We went to discover some of the famous beaches around Cabo de Gata but also went on long walks along the coast. There are several good restaurants a short drive away and Gonzalo pointed us in the right direction depending on our mood. It is not the place if you are after a 5star spa. But it definitely is, if you enjoy nature and are looking for a great base from where to discover Cabo de Gata Natural Park.

The small village and the surrounding area has many locations used in the filming of Leone’s spaghetti westerns. Most of the locations have information boards and offer excellent photo opportunities. It would be helpful to plan your visit as there is a lot of uncovered roads to reach some of the locations. This should not put you off visiting as the locations are almost untouched.

We stayed for a week, paying €550 for eight nights, together with our seven-month-old daughter. The place is immaculately maintained, very clean and manages to be modern yet fit perfectly into its Almeria surroundings. Accommodation is basic (in a good way) but tastefully and simply decorated. Gonzalo makes sure you have everything you need (e.g. for baby: bathtub, high chair, travel cot, extra sheets) and makes a genuine, personal effort to ensure that your stay is as enjoyable as posssible. Gonzalo gave us the choice of bungalow and we chose number three for the ability to see the sunsets, although our daughter didn't give us much chance to see them unfortunately! Setting is very tranquil and is away from the more bustling places (in summer anyway) of the Cabo de Gata region such as San José or Agua Amarga. Suitable for if you're planning to cook most nights, since there are not many other options in the vicinity, although there is a hotel, a small bar and a convenience shop in the village. Overall though, a great option for a couple wanting a chilled-out and relaxing visit to the Cabo de Gata region.
