It is a lovely place, the owners are really nice, and the guesthouse is big. Rooms have a/c, and if you happen to stay there, I would suggest you have dinner at the nearby "chef's" restaurant.
The owners were so nice that they helped us the following day with our travel to the harbor!

The Permata is a wonderful guest house located 10 minutes by car from the ferry, and well worth a stay. Many folks stay for one night on their way to the Perhentians, but we stayed 3 nights and had a great, relaxing time.
We stayed in a comfortable cottage that had several rooms, and kitchenette area (no stove or hot plate, but a kettle and a toaster). The main bedroom had AC. Our hosts were extremely welcoming, offering us bikes so we could ride to the beach (about 20 minutes by bike), fruit from their garden, and a delicious homemade breakfast on our last morning. There are some great local restaurants about a 10-15 minute walk away.
If you've got the flexibility in your schedule, and have any interest in local Malaysian culture, I recommend staying here at least 2 nights, biking around and talking with the hosts. It's a friendly and scenic area, well worth it!

Very quiet place: suitable if you want to do your work such as writing. The rooms, in fact, the whole house is tastefully decorated and extremely clean. It is self-catering with a small camper stove--enough for making simple meals. There are ample kitchen utensils and a small fridge. The owner, Ayah Su and his wife are the nicest hosts: very attentive, generous and helpful. They can also help in arranging for trips to nearby islands. There are bikes provided for guests, which is much appreciated. There is a beautiful small garden with fruit trees at the back of the house.

Stayed here for one night before travelling to perhentians! Very reasonable. Only annoyance was when we turned up late at night in the rain there was no one on a reception or similiar. Had to phone & someone came out. All very friendly though & owner dropped in a goody bag later in the eve! Small apartment so bags of space, kitchen, living room & bedroom.

Title says it all. As with a lot of people, this stayover involved a visit to the Perhentians. The main host, the father of the family, gave us a warm welcome in his tropical garden. The place we stayed in was super super tidy and had a bedroom, kitchen
, bathroom and some sort of living room/-hall.
The host's son offered us two bikes to go to a nearby foodstall, gave us local fruits and arranged a transport to the Kuala Besut harbor. The location may be unattractive, since there's not a lot to do around there, but we just needed one night and for that, it was perfect. We really felt at home in this air-conditioned place and we definitely recommend this place to people who need a stayover in Kuala Besut.
