The rooms were nice one they were new, but it's lacking maintenance and good care.
The more important fact that this was a great resort to unwind for a good R & R. It is in the countryside of the East Rift Valley, and about 20-25 minutes' drive from Taitung itself. This made for spacious surroundings, with the view from the back of the hotel facing the mountains.
The hotel had a wide driveway with ample parking. The lobby area also had a high ceiling with a spacious appearance. While we were there, there was also a man from one of the aboriginal tribes demonstrating his expertise at leaf-folding, teaching how to create crickets and other objects. The cricket was especially life-like, given the natural colour of the leaf.
The rooms had a unique layout, with the bathroom and the wash area being away from the door/corridor. This was to take advantage of the view, so it was possible lie in the onsen and look out at the mountains. This also allowed the shower & onsen area to be separate from both the WC and the sink; useful when sharing the room. Having the hot spring tub in the room made it easy to soak whenever you wanted to.
On the ground floor to the left of the lobby was a large recreational area, with a table-tennis table and bats, arcade games and basketball hoop shooting, a library with a reading area. This was great as there isn't much immediately around the hotel, so this was a good diversion after dinner. We didn't use the spa.
Breakfast at their restaurant was good with many tables well-spaced out, so that it didn't feel crowded at all. There was also a noodle station where one could cook your own noodles and choose your combination of ingredients and garnishes, making your own individual dish. There was a good variety of both Western and Chinese dishes as well.
Breakfastbuffet has no western choises and the Chinese dishes are of average quality. Dinnerbuffet was ok and you can get softdrinks included in price.
Swimmingpool is heated by thermal water. Pool is closed between 10 and 15.30 every day so it’s not a place for children. The pool is also completely closed every tuesday for cleaning. They actually empty the pool.
Only one employee speaks english.
Hot air balloon experience is really overpriced. You get 5-10 minutes inside the balloon while the balloon is still fixed to the ground. You’ll pay 1,100 TWD for the experience.
Overall I find that the hotel doesn’t deserve 4 Stars and I would not recommend staying!
Rooms a little on the basic side but the pool area is all you could hope for while the hearty breakfast is just what you need before heading off into the forest. The pool is (usually) red hot and as it's built right on the edge of the property that drops offs 40 feet to the road it is more or less an infinity pool that commands a wionderful view of the reserve.
Won’t come again and won’t recommend anyone!
price. That tour also gives you a free jar of honey. On top of the awesome hot spring experience this hotel can bring you, they also offer delicious and healthy foods at their restaurants. Anyways, I was very impressed with this hotel, the customer service, the room, the hot springs and the surrounding nature. It exceeded my expectations for a resort in the rural areas of Taitung.
