Detailed Reviews
We stayed at this property during the new year. We realised that's the high season where Taipei's hotel rates sky rocket. We booked this property, as that was a bit away from central Taipei & it was cheaper compared to similar hotels in the city center. After staying here, we only have positive things to say about this property.
The rooms were good, beds comfortable, neat & clean. The property itself is on a main road (no noise in our rooms though), with convenient access to bus routes to the city center. There's also 2 metro stations nearby (around 10 - 15 mins walk). There's also a 7-11 in the same building. The buffet breakfast was excellent. They had a good variety of vegan options, including fresh fruit & juice. The had a laundry (free for guests) & a few massage chairs (again free to use).
Overall, a memorable stay & we would love to come again!

Best option around if you have any meeting / appointment around Nangang Exhibition Center. A lot of dining options within the area makes this place a best choice overall. You can walk to MRT in around 5-10 minutes only.

Good stay and friendly service. The staff handled my problem very quickly and professionally. The dryer was not very hot so laundry took a while to dry. Overall a great experience and will consider staying there again in the future.

Deluxe room was tiny, with no windows. I really really dislike that there wasn’t a window. Breakfast gets a 5 out of 10. You’ll hv the standard coffee machines, fruits, bread, etc spread but quality is frankly average.
The good thing about this place? It’s a short walk from nangang software station and has all amenities (safe, toiletries, fridge etc) in that tiny room.

I visited this hotel for a conference and stayed there for two weeks. It’s a a basic business hotel with great service. Here are a few highlights
- Great service and friendly staff
- Well maintained hotel with exceptionally good housekeeping
- Decent breakfast
- Great location that is walking distance to the monorail
The rooms are really really small, the gym here is non existent. Outside of that it’s a great hotel with friendly staff.

This is a clean friendly hotel but I woke up to my neighbor going to the bathroom. Hard to rest when I can hear every conversation going on in the rooms around me. I got in at 1AM and people were still chatting and it was difficult to sleep.

+1
I have been in Taipei for one week for a conference and this hotel was mentioned on the conference website. I have been extremely satisfied. The Hotel is extremely modern, refurbished with very good taste, I would say it is a very classy place. Staff very friendly and nice, some of them speak english well. Rooms are very nice, extremely confortable. Depending on the needs one could choose the standard room, which is a bit small, and without the wardrobe, or superior rooms, which are bigger, and also have wardrobe. I think there are also luxury rooms/suites, but I suppose the price is quite high
I chose the standard room, very good value for price. I did not find it very inconvenient the fact of not having any wardrobe, you still have 5 clothes hanger in the room, which I think are enough for easy travellers. Bathrooms are also very nice, modern and confortable. The hotel service is fantastic, they provide you everything you need, even toothbrush and toothpast, which are changed every day, as well as the towels. Rooms are very clean and quite. You get also a lot of TV channels as well as movies on demand. Some of them are for free, for some other movies (the newest ones I suppose) you have to pay. All rooms have wi-fi connection.
Breakfast is very good, you can have avery good Continentale breakfast as well as chinese food. Of course it is not recommended for those people that only like having "cappuccino and croissant" at morning (but I think these people should not go to Taipei at all) :-))
I found extremely nice also the fact that all services are included in the hotel price; I think this is not something very common; sometimes you get in very nice hotels where however you need to pay for evey extra service (wi-fi, dirnk etc..). This is not the case here; you have even a laundry service! You have to pay ONLY if you ask them to do your laundry, BUT you can access the laundry on your own, in which case you do not have to pay anything. They even provide you the washing powder.
To conclude, I found the forward hotel a fantastic place. The only thing I did not like is the area. Very good for my conference, but kind of suburbs and bit far away from the city center, still only 20 minutes by underground.

I needed an affordrable hotel away from Taipei's dead center and at $88 per night the Forward Nangang fit the bill. Since it did not have any English Tripadvisor reviews, I took a 'leap in the dark' by merely checking out the website to see pics of the interior before I booked for one night. It looked new, so I figured it cannot be too bad.
My expectations were completely surpassed; the hotel is not only new, but has this cool modern ambiance - really loved the design of both the common areas and the rooms. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, I won't take up internet space describing what could be seen in a photo, please see attached a couple of mine, or search Google images by typing up the hotel's name - what you will see is pretty much what it is in reality.
Since it is a three star hotel, it doesn't have a full list of amenities i.e. it lacks a restaurant, valet, concierge etc. so you pretty much have to haul your luggage to your room on your own. In our case, one of the front desk girls helped us, which was very nice of her!
What I really found handy was the availability of laundry facilities (two new washers and dryers) which can be used between 10am and 10pm free of charge (detergent included)! There is a lounge right next to the laundry room where you can wait for the wash cycle to be over, while you browse an expansive selection of (mostly Chinese) magazines or use the computer there. The little gym is right next door; there are free water bottles provided to replenish what's lost during exercise.
Our room rate also included breakfast, served from 7am-10am in the hotel 'cafeteria', which looks just like a modern cafe. It included a standard fare, which I have seen in other Taiwanese hotels - eggs, breakfast meats, some Chinese pickles, breads, salads, noodles etc + some juices. Nothing special, but still extensive enough compared to breakfast served in similar type of hotels in the USA.
Service was very good - the girls at the front desk (who pretty much are responsible for all services provided, except for cleaning) were very nice, responsive and spoke the best English that I came accross while in Taiwan.
There is free wi-fi, free water bottles and fruit upon arrival in the rooms, but it seems this all is standard for good hotels in Taiwan.
If you are to come in with a car, there is free parking in the basement. The lot only has 5 spots, so not sure what happens once it gets full.
The hotel's location is not central, it is about 7km from Taipei 101 and 70km from Taoyuan International Airport, but since we drove, this was not a problem for us.
We were hungry for some 'Western' food, so we appreciated the proximity of both Pizza Hut and Subway to the hotel.
I highly recommend to anyone who wouldn't mind the lack of certain amenities and would appreciate saving a buck or two on room rate.

Positives: hotel people spoke very fluent English and was extremely helpful (calling us the cab); room was always clean and had the basic amenities; breakfast buffet is provided with a good mix of Taiwanese and Western food; mall was right in front of the hotel; 7-11 and Family Mart near the hotel; brown subway line very close to the hotel
Negatives?: a little far from the airport and other major areas but easy to get to via shuttle bus and subway; room had no windows so it was cheaper

Friendly and helpful staff, both at the front lobby and at the restaurant. Rooms are clean and comfy. Love the coffee and cookies at the lobby pantry!
7-11 located right at the doorstep, and a Family Mart diagonally across. Shopping mall with many nice restaurants located right opposite, and also within walking distance to some other eateries (including 永和豆浆). Approx 15 mins taxi ride to Raohe Night Market which will cost between NT160-180.
Breakfast is great, and love the fact that the chef will change the dishes daily so that you won’t see many repeated items (especially if you are staying for a few days).
