Detailed Reviews
Wife and I were here for 3 nights in Jan.
This was our second time here in 3 years. It changed so much. It now had a free laundry room, electronic massage chair, electronic food massage machine, breakfast, electronic bidet which we didn't have 3 years ago.
Our check in process was wonderful, the lady who helped us was outstanding. We were given the same room requested as before, but it was def. remodeled. Cuz it looked totally different than what we remembered. The bed was clean and comfortable, just the right amount of firmness which was hard to find in Asia. Bathroom had a shower and a tub with good amenities. sufficient space to store our stuff in the room. WiFi worked great with VPN. It was quiet at night, so we had 3 great night sleep. Plenty of english option channels on TV.
The hotel is located at a perfect location for repeating visitors. Lots of great public transport near the hotel. Easy to get to night markets for locals instead of touristy ones. I won't name then all to keep them cool and authentic, but please do yourself a favor and skip Shilin. go online and search for others. You won't regret it. I will name one that's better: Shi-Da.
Breakfast was delicious. However really, just eat some fruit and coffee, save yourself some room and go out and eat the wonderful authentic breakfasts in Taipei instead. It won't cost you all that more.
On the roof, we used their free laundry and while we waited for the laundry, we used the full body massage chair and the foot massage machine and read.
It's also easy to get to and from TPE airport from there. Don't use the hotel's direction posted for the bus. It's too slow. Just take the MRT and the express train. It's 62 minutes compare to 90+.
Overall this is the hotel of choice everytime I come back to see my family. We will be back again.

Clean, upscale Japanese-style boutique hotel. Central location. Great buffet breakfast, courteous staff, nice rooftop garden. Located on a quiet street adjacent to a busy thoroughfare with plenty of shops and restaurants. Convenient to MRT station Nanjing Fuxing.

We came to TPE this time for new year count down so expected to pay a little bit more, the hotel would possibly with more reasonable price in normal days. The hotel is cozy and clean, it provides you the essential item as others. Just that the hair dyer is not up to standard and take longer time to dry your hair. Our room has no view as facing to the void area of other buildings. The staff is helpful and managed to provide us two separate beds bedroom as requested. Lastly, we prefer to have breakfast outside the hotel even it was included, as it’s really soso only and not much choices here.
Hotel is close to metro station which is very convenient for tourist.

It has been 6 years or so, since we were last in Taiwan and was delighted to see that Simple+ still delivers. Hotel is nice. Rooms are nice. Ours had bathtub which our 4 year old boy loved. Easy to go around. Staff is polite and helpful. Will go again on next trip.

I stayed at this hotel in late April 2015. I arrived on a flight at TPE and took the bus (#5201) for only 140 TWD (purchase your ticket at the Evergreen Bus booth on the lower level) and then got off at the 4th stop (Nanjing-Fuxing) MRT station. I then crossed the street and continued walking in the same direction as the bus and turned left at the 7-11 store. The hotel is just down this alley but is not visible using Google Street View because the hotel is new. For my return to the airport I picked up the bus at this same location and paid the 120 TWD when I got off. There are 2 terminals at the airport and the bus stops at T2 first so be sure you know which terminal your airline uses before you leave. The bus is very convenient, it leaves every 20 - 30 minutes from 6:00 am till midnight and the journey only takes about 60 minutes.
This is a newer, modern, small (7 floors with 12 rooms per floor) hotel with friendly, English speaking employees in a clean, safe and central location of Taipei. Check-in was quick and the room rates were reasonable. The rooms, as mentioned by others, are very small. I travelled alone and chose a Double room and that was small for one person so I can't imagine how a standard room would be for 2 people. The room was also dim but did have a bright desk lamp so it was easy to read what I needed at the desk but not in bed.
The room included a safe, refrigerator, central air conditioning, a desk with chair, closet with mirror and comfortable mattress and comforter. In the bathroom there was a tub/shower, fancy heated toilet seat, hair dryer, toothbrush, razor and American style 3-prong outlets for charging dual voltage devices like computers, phones and cameras. The small flat screen television included, in English; CNN, the National Geographic Channel, the Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet and as a bonus HBO, the Movie Channel, AXN, the Hollywood Channel, Star and Cinemax.
The room I had, on the second floor, was quiet but there were sounds from the alley including the garbage trucks and scooters early in the morning. There was also the sound of water rushing through pipes that I'd never heard in any other hotel. The bathroom was interesting in that it was glass with some frosting so I wouldn't share a room here with anyone except those you know very well.
This hotel is located in a nice, safe location to use as a base for exploring Taipei. The metro is located nearby (fares are based on the distance traveled and range from $0.65 to 1.75 per trip) so getting downtown or to Taipei 101 is very easy, quick and cheap. Also, there is a night market and two large Sogo shopping centers within walking distance of the hotel.
On the top floor there were 2 free washers and dryers with detergent open from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm. There was also a small outside deck for relaxing and workout room with minimal equipment open from 7:00 am until 10:00 pm. In the windowless basement they served a basic breakfast (included with all rooms) that had a small variety of western entrée choices. In the hotel lobby there were 2 Macintosh large screen computers for checking emails and printing out boarding passes.
I would return and have recommended this hotel to others. It was easy to get to on the bus, the rooms, while small, were adequate, clean and quiet and the beds comfortable so I got a good nights sleep. I would also suggest viewing and booking rooms from the website to get a better idea of the room choices and sizes.

The hotel room we received was huge! The bed was giant, we sleep on a queen mattress in America and this one is way bigger than the king Mattress, feels even larger than a California King. The hotel is located on the residential block, but a short 1 minute walk you are outside to the commercial district. It is super close to the MRT, and from Taoyuan Airport, just take a bus to SongShan Airport and take the Brown line to NanJingDongLu.
The room was comfortable and clean, and the staffs were friendly and knowledgeable. There is a small night market near the hotel on LiaoNing Street which was great for late night dinners. Also Brother Hotel is a block away, they have one of the best DimSum in Taipei, at least that's where my parents used to take me when I was little and lived in Taipei.
From the hotel you can get to anywhere in Taipei via MRT and Bus. During this trip we made it to Beitou Hot springs and YangMingShan via public transport.
The hotel provides daily breakfast but we never made it. The whole point of Taiwan is the food. We refuse to waste our time in the hotel for none traditional breakfast. I think the hotel should get rid of free breakfast and changed it to a free snack bar instead. Such as free fountain drinks, cup of noodles, cookies and chips. It will force the guest to go out and try the cheap and fantastic Taiwanese breakfast. There is no point going to Taiwan if you are not going to eat the hundreds of different style Taiwanese food that's only available in Taiwan.
Anyhow, the hotel is added to our must be back list since we come back to Taipei once a year.

We stayed there for 4 nights. The room is nice - simple and clean. I love the balcony of the room, even though we did not get too much time to sit outside and enjoy the balcony. Staff are friendly and polite, but not very helpful. Like what the previous reviews say, the room is very dark and the hotel should consider putting some lamps inside the room. Very close to the subway station (although the station is not on a main line), and it is easy to arrive at the hotel from the airport (1 bus ride - Evergreen bus).
We emailed the hotel a week before arrival to ask for a quieter and brighter room. Their response is quick and polite. They arranged us a room on the top floor. Very quiet and the room is very bright with natural sunlight in the daytime. We stay in a bigger room, so size is pretty ok for us.
However, the wifi signal is really weak inside our room, we can barely get connected. We told the front desk on the first night about the wifi problem. They apologized and said they ran out of router, and they suggested us to use LAN (wired) connections. Their suggestions did not help at all, as we were using Ipads and smart phones to stay online. We told them and they said they would try to reset the current routers and it might strength our room's reception. No improvement at all. We asked again on the second night, and they again said they had no more routers. They apologized again, saying that the weak wifi signal is due to the design of the room. Then, we asked again on the third and fourth night, and we ended up opening the door and standing in the hallway to check our emails. We do appreciate the staff's politeness and patience, but staying there for 4 nights, I would expect them to give me a router at least on the final night. As we observe, most people stayed there for only 1 or 2 nights. The hotel should therefore be able to give us a router when someone checks out. I felt like I have paid for the wifi service (as part of the hotel fee), and I could not get the service even though wifi is almost my most important criterion when choosing a hotel.
The price is ok, although you can find way cheaper options in Taipei. We went there around the Chinese New Year, so I would say the higher price would be reasonable as well.

Pros: New, clean, big shower, nice bath tub, friendly and knowledgable staff, short walk to MRT station, washing machine/dryer, free laundry detergent, water dispenser.
Cons: Biggest room in hotel was small, extremely dim lighting in the room, shower drainage poor, cigarette smoke smell in room, taxi drivers unaware of location.

It's a small hotel that offers comfortable and clean accommodation. Booked 5 rooms for my group and everyone enjoyed their stay at this hotel.
Location - it's located on a side street a block away from the main road. Landmark would be a 7-11 at the corner. This is where we take our taxi's everyday as they seem to stop here for passengers. Lots of food choices in the area and 2 malls are within walking distance same with the MTR.
Rooms - Rooms are clean and comfortable. The pictures on the website gives an accurate representation of how the rooms looks like.
Hotel - the lobby is small but this wasn't an issue at all. There are 2 iMacs available for use and a small bar which offers coffee 24/7. The free use of the laundry area is a plus for me. Wifi is available at all areas of the hotel.
Breakfast - it's included with our room rate and offers adequate selection... just right for the price.
Hotel staff were courteous and helpful more so in writing down directions to show to our taxi driver.
I would definitely stay at this hotel for our future Taipei trips...

Yes, Simple+ Hotel has 24 hours front desk staffs.
Yes, they hold bags. I saw several groups of bags held in lobby for travelers during my recent stay. The MRT (train) is easy to take and ticket machine can be adjusted to English. Just have Taiwan currency. If 3 or 4 in party I recommend taking a taxi. You will need address written down clearly (in mandarin) preferred for driver. Taxis usually do not know where these smaller hotels are located.
I think it ends at ten. I can't remember when it started. Thre were a lot of choices.
