Just back from a one night stay at 'The Old Convent'. The food was on a par with any of the top restaurants in Ireland. The rooms are magnificent. Peaceful and relaxed. Christine and Dermot who run the establishment are such lovely hosts. A one and half hour walk around the Clogheen Loop, in the rain, was finished off with...

The motto of the Old Convent should be Excellence Everyday. However, it is not be in either Christine's or Dermot's style to boast about their standards. Guests are treated with understated excellence is all aspects of their Old Convent experience. We have visited the OC for many years. On arrival, you relax in the Drawing room. Your bedroom is not...

It was such a pleasure to join family/friends for a special Birthday party in this charming setting. Totally renovated to high standards - what a place to come to for the weekend. Management were so welcoming --a delightful suite with very special views of the forests and hills. Food presented in an amazingly high standard together with wines from S...

We stayed in room 5 aka 'The Loft'. This is perfect for a special occasion. Huge comfortable bedroom with seating area, huge bathroom with large shower and separate roll top bath beside the window. This room can accommodate three people. (A separate single bed is located in the cutest mezzanine accessed by stairs. On arrival you are invited to have...

I would rate our stay here as a 5 out of 5 only for some minor nit picky drawbacks of mine. The food was outstanding - some of the finest I have ever had. It was flavoursome and plentiful - 10 out of 10 for that. The service, cleanliness, ambiance and comfort was 10 out of 10. The bedroom was...

Having read about The Old Convent in an article about foodie breaks I knew it was somewhere we would enjoy. We decided to spend our wedding anniversary here as a treat and from the moment we arrived it was a chilled out experience. The property is beautifully preserved and decorated. We enjoyed tea in the drawing room during the day...

We go here whenever we need to escape the hustle and bustle of life. Peace and relaxation abound and Dermot Gannon's food is excellent. Christine runs a wonderful house and there is walking on the doorstep, with plenty of visitor attractions

First visit to the Old Convent, beautiful house, warmly welcomed and an efficient check in and orientation. Rooms were beautifully decorated and very comfortable, we loved visiting their sitting room for tea and cupcakes in the afternoon and met with other guests. Upstairs a little 'Aladdins Cave' contained everything your might need for a relaxing stay, books, DVD's and players,...

We are still in the room and I just couldn't wait to write this review. The Old Convent is just outstanding. Great location, the best food and lovely rooms. The staff are so friendly. The 8 course tasting menu was delicious. Good fresh food. My worry was that it would be overly pretentious but it was far from that. Well...
