Casa Svizzera has been extensively renovated to 4 star level rooms. Located over the owners wine shop (look for Cantina Germano Angelo) we spent two nights in real comfort after some heavy duty wine tasting. Ask for info on the owners daughters "dine out" nights. She is an accomplished chef and does excellent dinners with appropriate wines at her family... More

From the outside and in the entrance way one might be wondering, what kind of place is this? But once you enter the redecorated and recently renovated rooms you fall in love. Rooms are enormous and bathrooms are beautiful. I found out the room I was staying in was the room where the current owner was born - who also... More

Perfect staying in heart of Barolo town. There is balcony in the rooms with view to spectacular Barolo streets. Room was very cosy and modern. Coffee and tea available in room. All restaurants, wine bars and museum are just couple of meters from stayng.

Right in the heart of Barolo, this little B&B is amazing. The location is perfect, the man who runs it is so nice and the rooms are beautiful. If you don't stay here when you are in Barolo you are doing yourself a dis-service.

We were introduced to Casa Svizzera by an American wine distributor who not only recommended a stay during a trip a couple of years back, but insisted that we stay there after traving about spectactular wines to be found in the retaily outliet in central Barolo and the benefits of staying in one of three highly stylized rooms upstairs. tWe... Four of us just recently stayed here for 5 nights - we had the Suite and the Viola rooms. Both rooms were absolutely stunning. The beds were extremely comfortable, the rooms very well designed and decorated, and the owners made sure all guest needs were met. From the quality windows and doors (makes the room very soundproof) to the linens... More

Beautifully renovated and immaculately furnished, this bijou hotel is a perfect place to stay in Barolo. Mr Germano fronts the hotel and wine shop whilst his son and daughter look after the food and wine. We stayed in the top floor suite and had the wine tasting tour and dinner..... great food and views to die for over the vineyards.... More

My wife and I stayed here with two friends whilst travelling through northern Italy. From the first greeting by Angelo the owner the stay was perfect. Set in the building of an old Cantina the rooms are most beautifully appointed with views over the centre of Barolo, where the Casa is situated, and the nearby vineyards. Angelo could not be... We rented the top floor "suite", and basked in luxury! This was a huge, modern, fully equipped room in an ages-old building, with a view out over Barolo. Not exactly a B&B, since the breakfast was at a café, not really a hotel, and an Agriturismo only in the sense that the owner makes and sells Barolo wine, it somehow... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Casa Svizzera farmhouse is located in historic complex that served as the bottling plant of the Barolo Wine Cooperative from 1902 to 1930. Owned by the Germano family (historic winery of Barolo) since 1936 and recently renovated, it is named for the Albergo Svizzero that occupied the residence in the early 20th century. The residence was decorated in the style of a Swiss chalet and, today, has been renamed Casa Svizzera. The farmhouse is located in the pedestrian area of the old town centre of Barolo and is easily accessible by car thanks to a private road with parking. Barolo is located in the heart of the Langhe area, which is full of history, culture and gastronomy. This small medieval town is a sort of capital of the wine country, surrounded by rolling hills in a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. With a short walk from the farmhouse you can visit the imposing Castle Falletti of Barolo, which now houses the WiMu National Wine Museum, and the unique Corkscrew Museum, or you can follow one of the "Barolo paths" that pass through marvellous vineyards surrounded by the natural beauty of the Langhe area. ... more   less
