We stayed here as wanted to go to Curio Bay. When we arrived, we were given directions to go to Nugget Point Lighthouse, which also meant we got to see seals and Yellow-Eyed Penguins from the hide. This is something we had wanted to do, it didn't think we would have time. Thanks to the lovely lady at the motel...

I stayed here just on my way through from the Catlins to Dunedin. It is a moderate place, however the interior is a bit aged. In toto the price/value ratio is right. The hosts was very nice and welcoming.

Stayed for two nights. The hosts were very helpful, especially as my friend turned out with a migraine and had to end up staying in the motel bed for an extra half day when we should have checked out, though we did pay an additional fee. However, it was appreciated that we could do this. The room was very comfortable...

We stayed in Unit 3 for 2 nights whilst visiting family in Balclutha. We found the accommodation to be perfectly clean and tidy with lovely, welcoming hosts. The unit was also nice and warm with a heater - perfect temperature for the cold winter night! Thanks Helensborough - we will definitely be back!

I stayed here when it got down to -3 one night. The electric heater on 1/2 had my room at 17 deg C when I woke up at 5:30. I could get the room to 20 deg C in the evening and be comfortable. There are electric blankets on the beds. The shower produced a hot shower. The windows are...

We booked on the internet and then needed to contact the motel about their cancellation policy because our plans had changed. The motel did not respond to our emails and in the end we decided to just go ahead with the booking since it looked as though we wouldn't be able to request a refund. We told them our expected...

Excellent accommodation and friendly owners. Manager is knowledgeable about the upper part of the Catlins. Moor Inn has one of the night and day type bakery, food bar practically next door. This is an excellent shop serving all kinds of food etc - so if you arrive late and need a snack, then you should find plenty of choice at the...

This was a pretty nice place. I really appreciated the hospitality that the owners showed towards us. I thought it was a pretty decent size, including two bedrooms, a TV room, connected with a dining room, and kitchen, and let's not forget the bathroom, and toilet. I would definitely recommend this place to stay for anyone visiting Balclutha.

We had driven from Christchurch, intending to stay Dunedin, but it was uni orientation week, and there were no vacancies. Managed to get a room at the Helensborough, and we were really made welcome! We were allocated a room out the back away from the road noise, and were really pleased with the room. Coffee facilities, free wifi, cable TV,...
