We were really looking forward to staying at this hotel because we had paid a premium to be in one of the rooms with the little terrace overlooking the fabulous view of San Nicola island. When we arrived to the island by ferry all the other hotel shuttle buses were waiting except Hotel Gabbiano's. We had walked all the way up the hill towards the hotel before we saw it driving towards us. We accept that sometimes there are unavoidable delays but the driver loaded our bags without a word of greeting or apology. Not a great start. I would agree with retogisin75's experience that the the general attitude of the staff was not very welcoming; on the whole they gave the impression they were far too distracted by their work to put effort into acknowledging guests. The exception to this was a young lady who worked in the restaurant who offered bright and cheery greetings every day, and the cleaners who were friendly and very efficient (the hotel was very clean, if dated). When we booked we'd had the impression that the hotel was set away from other properties but this isn't the case and it can get very noisy at weekends (the first night we were there we were regaled by such delights as "rock around the clock" and the Beachboys' "Barbara" until 3am). Midweek it is quieter. The breakfast offered a basic choice of cereal, yoghurt, poor quality ham and cheese, bread and an array of Italian cakes that didn't always seem very fresh. No fruit was on offer but it seemed you could request fruit from the waiters (we bought ours from the local shop and ate that), we did request some tomatoes once, and noticed that an Italian guest requested salami. The coffee was very good and freshly made to order. We only ate dinner at the hotel once (reviewed on the restaurant section) and thankful that we didn't go half board because guests who chose that option were seated to the back of the restaurant (no lovely view then) and had to eat a limited choice within a one hour time frame. The islands are very beautiful, we will return but not to this hotel.

I had a spotlessly clean and comfortable room with a beautiful view. The friendly staff were very welcoming and most obliging, always ready to provide a free shuttle bus to the Port/Harbour. I enjoyed excellent dinners in the Hotel Ristorante Mille grazie!

Not very modern rooms, no warmful welcome and not very friendly staff (they seemed to be tired after a Long Tourist season?), quite noisy rooms... Very good Food from the menu, but moderate Quality with half-Pension.

We stayed in three rooms looking out towards the neighbouring island (worth a visit!) with balconies - all en suite and very respectable. Nothing flash but clean and comfortable. Helpful staff who picked us up at the port.

From the terrace of the Hotel Gabbiano on the island of San Domino, Tremiti Islands archipelago, there is a view ecstatic on the Abbey of Santa Maria in the sea, (dating from 1059) which stands overlooking the island of St. Nicholas. This just about location, is a family-run hotel, but always careful to update the structure and the service has been correctly added a small Spa with sauna, turkish bath and jacuzzi. I have stayed several times and in different periods of the year in this nice hotel, last week I had dinner there, (a good rule book); I found the seafood entrees, also raw, and we waited we were preparing a Fragolino fish with potatoes, delicious, desserts, unfortunately, have never been the final pearl. About the wine I noticed a careful selection of grapes from the Apulia not easily be enjoyed in other parts of the territory. On the island is a three-star hotel that stands out.
