Just popped in for a pint but was impressed by the friendly service and selection of good quality local ales. There's a wide range of great ciders too. Food selection looked good and the pub is lovely.

We brought my aunt visiting from america and decided to have lunch here. I phoned first as we had two dogs that would also be with us and we were not disappointed. Dog biscuits on the bar truly a sign of pet friendly and fresh water available. We ordered ploughman's, a scampi and a few other dishes enormous and very...

We were staying in a barn conversion about 10 mins from the castle inn, we have dined there before and thought we would go back and see if it was as good as before, we started the day by hooking up with Sue's walking tours, the knowledge of this woman and her husbands lee regarding Dorset, is limitless, we walked...

Don't have a view of the castle from the best room but a grand view of the lake. Nice castle nearby and falls. The owners were very helpful on sites to see nearby and how to get there. East of Sligo in a very nice area with less people than areas more south of here.

After our coastal climb, we were in need of a drink and lunch! The beer was flat! Only small bottles of wine! Instead of a glass being poured from a full size bottle. Beer battered cod from a small cove that catches fish, turned into a frozen piece of 'what' fish I am not sure, sent the fish back as...

So great place to take dogs , Chef very kindly prepared Sainsbury's burgers and sausages I'd bought for mine . Staff all very accommodating and helpful. I found food great and very generous portions!! Just managed to finish the steak and Ale pie , the rest defeated me . Breakfast is again very good and complimentary sausages for dog quests....

Visited for a quick preparatory lunch and drink(s) before embarking on our coastal climb. The staff were very pleasant- personable and sociable. Food was actually great, plenty of it on the plate too! Not the most desirable interior but we were there for the outdoors!

Well, Reading some of the negative reviews, I wonder if we stayed in the same place. Yes, the inn is reminiscent of a bygone era...but it fits the location! It is quaint not yuppie! Bathrooms and beds could do with a makeover but the friendliness and cleanliness compensate to a great degree. Breakfast is huge if you like it that...

Food was very bad and very expensive. We had to send the "cheesy garlic bread" back. The indoors smelt horrific. Would not return. Staff however were very attentive and understanding and refunded us right away and said they would have a word with the "chef".

Regrettably, we were unable to secure a meal at any other of our preferences nearby over the busy Easter period. Faced with the lottery of Finlay's fish and chips (see my review), we chose this. Average pub grub, pie came with the massive faux pastry topping which dissolved into tasteless sawdust fragments of nothingness on impact with my knife. A...
