We came here for a Diamond Wedding lunch and stayed the night. I was impressed with how good the 3 course lunch was, especially when 40 people were being catered for, and how unobtrusive and efficient the staff were. My portion of pate was very generous and the trout fillet was excellent, served with plenty of vegetables. I later discovered...

A really fabulous evening spent here at The Tumbling Weir last weekend for a private family party celebration. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Delicious evening buffet. Would most definitely recommend.

Small, tucked away privately run hotel twenty minutes from Exeter City Centre. On approaching the hotel, it is apparent that Ottery st. Mary has seen better days as the access road is immediately next to the now derelict Eaton, Cutler and Hammer engineering plant which closed in 2003. The hotel itself is quaint and comfortable with smart and clean public...

The proprietor and staff were always polite and of a friendly demeanour. The food was competently cooked, but dinner was somewhat pricey for what it was. The most disappointing thing was that, having booked a double room and had that booking confirmed, when we arrived we were shown to a twin room that had the beds pushed together (but under...

The room we had was small with enough hanging space but little other storage and would have been cramped for anything more than a night or two. It was clean, the bed was comfortable but the room smelled unpleasant, perhaps of air freshener. The bathroom was cramped and basic - the electric shower was adequate but stopped unexpectedly whenever we...

This was a very disappointing weekend visit, and one we will not repeat. No welcome, we received the keys and 'upstairs third on the right'. The room was what I would expect from a small b&b, it was very clean but the bathroom smelt like a public toilet. We had constant struggles with the shower (don't try to wash your...

We were warmly welcomed by the Staff; sat in the garden enjoying pre dinner drinks and discussing an excellent menu. We opted for Duck, Steaks & Pork. All were cooked to perfection with several choices of vegetables, all beautifully cooked. One of our party had very complex dining needs, but the Chef rose to the challenge, without warning and was...

We're staying an extra night. Entrance to hotel is down a narrow lane past old industrial buildings. But hotel has a great setting with large gardens and adjacent to town park dedicated to Coleridge. Very friendly and obliging owners. Very much value for money.
