We stayed here for 2 nights in July 2015 (it wouldn't let me choose that option below so had to say July 2016). One of the best campgrounds we have ever stayed at. We recommend staying at least 2 nights if you are trying to get good views of Mt. McKinley/Denali, as you just don't know what the weather is...

We had two nights booked at Wonder Lake Campground in August of 2016. Unfortunately, a landslide closed the road in and we were limited to one night. We have heard how great this place is, and we decided to make the long journey even if it would be for just one night. So glad we did. We arrived in the...

We stayed two nights, which would be a minimum, as its basically a day in and a day out. We were a family with two tents and two sites. Three nights would have been better. Bring bear spray. There is plenty of safe food storage, and everyone cooks at the designated area, so you will meet folks at meal time....

This campground is awesome. We stayed for two nights and loved every minute of it (except the mosquitos). Bring bug spray and you'll be fine. This is like a very light intro to backpacking. You have to bring food and store it in a food locker, but you also have a flushing toilet and running water. Rangers give programs every...

We choose to stay at Wonder Lake the last week of August partly for the views and the fact that it would allow us to get a backcountry permit in advance, moving us to the front of the line in getting a choice assigned area for backpacking. It was raining early in the morning when we left. Polychrome Pass was...

As others have pointed out, the location of Wonder Lake Campground is one of the most spectacular on the planet. Most sites have magnificent views of “the mountain.” One can be content to sit at their picnic table and watch the amazing kaleidoscope of clouds passing over the Alaska Range and Denali. There are a few things that might be...

Great views, but the tent sites are a little close together, so there is very little privacy and can be noisy at times. Two clear days and few bugs after a long stretch or rain and snow were bonus. The McKinley Bar Trail a little ways up the road was a great half-day hike.

We camped here for two nights a few days ago, and although the weather was not great; nor were the views at the time; what we did get to see from our campsite was beautiful. Good cooking shelter, flush toilets and sinks (!) and a beautiful park. Not a ton of hikes from this campsite but worth checking out.

Had a beautiful view of Mt. Mickinley from the campsite. Bugs weren't a problem at all (last week of june). Took Deet but never used it. There were a few mosquitoes here and there but not as scary as made out to be in some other reviews. The food storage area was like 50 yards away. Only hard part was...

Visited for one night June 8 2015, the first day the campground opens. We were hoping for reasonable sites and bugs that didn't live up to all the horror stories. The campsite were great, spread out, yet easy to access and close enough for animal safety concerns. Shared cooking space and bear lockers were convenient. Sites were relatively flat too....
