We stayed in Pioneer cabin #28 with a view of the rim. It was a 2-room cabin. 1st room had a double bed, night stand and lamp, bench and refrigerator. 2nd room had a twin bunk bed, desk, and futon. Small bathroom in the middle...More

The Lodge's cabins are primitive--mousetrap in cabin, midget shower, no room for suitcases, located on hillside far from parking, require porters with golf carts for most luggage handling. Also, they are very EXPENSIVE because commercial outfits buy them out and sell them at a large...More

Not at the lodge or cabins. I believe it is available at the store. We had no occasion to use it so I don’t know how good it is. There is also no cell service at the cabins. At intermittent spots along the rim you can get service from the south rim. It is not reliable.

Sorry for delay - was not watching for questions :-)
Looks like you got your answers. North Rim is fantastic, but fewer tourists and tourist features. Only open for about 5 months per year, but Sept should be OK.
