We stayed at the El Tovar New Year's Day. It was a cool snowy day, but beautiful! The hotel is historical, and you can't beat the view and accessibility of the canyon. We could watch it change minute by minute and after the tour buses had left, we had it practically to ourselves. The restaurant for dinner was nice with...

You can't beat the location of this hotel, right on the south rim of the canyon! Incredible views, nice porch with rockers & a quaint hotel. Built long ago, early 1900's, but updated along the way. Our room included a small sitting area with a table & 2 chairs. No closet, but a small hanging space in the armoire. We...

We stayed in El Tovar in early January 2017 for two days of our Christmas holiday in the US' South West. Our idea was to have a comfortable stay at the Grand Canyon despite snow, ice and cold winds. Indeed El Tovar would have been perfect for this purpose and on top was decorated generously including with a huge Christmas...

El Tovar is one of those examples of a location that you thing " this could have been..." The place is a jewel. An architectural and historical gem located at the edge of one of the most wonderful places on earth. Anybody else with some business sense would make this hotel a 6 star destination. Xanterra decided to treat it...

This hotel is right on the rim of the Canyon and the views are fantastic. The staff were friendly and the restaurant good, we had breakfast and dinner, you need to book as there are limited eateries in the area. The Hotel is over 100 years old and has not been updated to the same standards as we experienced elsewhere...

Went for lunch at their restaurant which was filled with people, expectedly the service was a bit slow but not too slow. We had Veg Chilli soup, sandwich with fries and lastly hot chocolate. Food was good and the hot chocolate was exceptional as reviewed by others. I saw many people enjoying hot chocolate at other tables :) Location is...

When I booked the El Tovar hotel for our family, I had no idea how spectacular the view of the Grand Canyon would be from the hotel and how special our first trip to the canyon would be with such close proximity to it. The rim of the canyon is just a few steps from the hotel and access to...

Hotel is located on the south rim of Grand Canyon and has a warm inviting charm about it. Dining at the hotel is, walk in for breakfast and lunch but reservations for supper. I suggest getting your name in early so you don't have to eat late. I would suggest room service before going to any other restaurants in vicinity....

My wife, our son, and I just spent three nights at the El Tovar. We enjoyed it and would stay here again. The location is fantastic -- leave the front door and you're at the South Rim in 30 seconds. We had a room with two queen beds; they were quite comfortable. The bathroom has limited counter space but it...

El Tovar has so much potential but is sadly way off where it could be. It's proximity to the Canyon is probably the only positive I can recall. On the whole (with the occasional exception) the staff were off hand and surly. The building has charm and atmosphere but is in the need of a facelift. In it's current state,...
