A nice calm place. Camp ground allocation is first come first serve. one common rest room was neat and clean. There is a sun set view point near the camp ground, you have to drive past the camp ground entrance to get there. its very near by. Please head to Lake Junaluska overlook for a beautiful sun rise; believe me...

I love it here! So much beauty and solitude. My only complaint would be that the campsites are too close together. Otherwise everything is wonderful! The temperature there last week was 39-40 degrees at night with 25-35 mph winds. It was raining leaves and it was magical!

After almost going there for 10 years I never get tied of the place. Grounds were clean, nice host but the only ranger was the one that rides through just before dark. NFS just doesn't want to keep one there and that is a shame. Place was a little over half full and very quiet. We loved it! Bad news...

I camped solo late July. Spot #7 was perfect for tent only. First come first serve. $14 a night. Pay in envelope. Friendly on site host. Quiet campground at the end of Balsam Mountain Road. Flush toilets and sinks. No showers. Bring your bike! Only about a half mile ride to the lookout at the end of the road. Also...

We are raising two of our grandsons and had not been camping for the three years they've been living with us. So this sounded like a good place to start. We just had a pop-up camper and not a lot of money. It was a very nice restful weekend. Just the necessities. Bathroom and a faucet to get water for...

Noticed some was wanting number and now way to edit on here so here you go. Looks like an awesome out of the way place to camp, nice and high up and secluded, with trails and scenery and a good chamce to see wild life...which is what camping is supposed to be. (865) 436-1200

Another great trip to Balsam Mountain. The weather wasn't as good as last year when it never went above 63 degrees in August and never rained. But at 67 and rain off and on it still beat 90 in Alabama. Place was spotless and the host was a joy to be around. Best news of all was a new ranger...

Well worth the trip. Camping at its best! All campsites were clean and well maintained. The camphost was always available and knowledgeable of the local area. The wildlife was abundant and it was a memorable experience for me and my family.

This campground is very small, very clean and very off-the-beaten path. There are no amenities other than clean bathrooms and a dishwashing station. The campsites are best suited to tent camping as there are no pull-ins for RVs of any sort and no hookups. Most campers when we were there were in tents. The facility is very clean and very...

We stayed for one summer night. It was perfectly quaint with easily assessable trails and overlooks to see the best views. Perfect weather during the say and slightly chilly at night. It was super quiet at night so we had to keep our music very low. Lots of rabbits hopping around too. Whatever you do DONT MISS THE SUNSET!

“Bring firewood before you come or plan accordingly. They do not have any available for sale as in the distant past. Also plan on it storming at least half the time since the campground is so high (5300 feet).”
