Close to everything you want to see in Volcano! I've stayed on a couple occasions and always enjoyed it. Dress warm so you can be cozy before you build your fire. I would pick up your essentials in Hilo as the convenience stores at KMC and in Volcano can be pricey. There is a bowling alley and golf course nearby....

Great hotel for the price and right in the National Park. Everything else besides the lodge is 20 minutes away. It was less than a 3 minute drive to the crater view point and 5 to 10 minutes drive to a variety of other hikes and views. It is old but comfortable. Think mountain cabin. If you are a looking...

If you're looking for a "hotel," this isn't it. The camp is stuck in the 40s-50s, but is super charming and the vibe is slow and friendly. We've been twice and will continue to choose KMC when staying on Hilo side. PROS: price. Based on military rank. We paid $80/night. A bargain for anywhere in Hawaii. Location: about a 45...

Number of Roaches killed exceeded the actual hours spent. Didn't find any in the bedding (linens were clean) but they were in the couch and our towels. Gracious for being able to stay with an active duty service member, however, our soldiers deserve better.

Would not return, even if it was free. Spend your money elsewhere. Terrible customer service. 60's style accommodations. Food is worse than camp food. Rude staff. Should have stayed at Volcano House. Do not stay here.

My husband and I stay at KMC at least 3-4 times a year; whether it be by ourselves or taking other couples who are visiting the island. Up until this visit, we have never had any issues with KMC. This visit, however, was different,...and terrible. Upon our arrival at checkin, a new gal was checking us in and appointed us...

This lodge is restricted to military members so I understand it's not available to most people but if you have a friend or family member that is/was military - stay here and save about 80% on your hotel bill all while exploring the wonderful island of Hawaii. It's not the most modern place but it's clean, quaint, and perfectly located...

The house at the camp was very well keep up for an old historical building on the military recreation facility. We had a great dinner near by were the volcano glow could be seen from our table. The vase expansive park has lots to see and the waterfall near Hilo were great. Lots to do not enough time.

Have stayed at Kmc six times and always enjoyed. The resort is 100 years old but the facilities are kept up within historical guidelines. Comfortable rooms and nice recreation amenities. Food is provided in a dining room along with a bowlin alley snack bar. As a 24 year retiree, I am proud of this facility.

Visited the bowling alley with friends and family. Small bowling alley that is dated but that does not keep you from having fun. Can be a very busy place. Is open to the general public so it is well used by locals. Try to avoid the weekend evening hours
