So I've stayed at both Watchman and South this year. While Watchman is the primo site (& I had reserved a spot 5 months in advance), on my return trip there was no room so we opted to try for South. We got there at 6:40 am on Tuesday October 18, and there were 11 cars ahead of us. Many...

If you want a spot in this first come first served camp you better wake up early! We got in line at 6:50 and we're number 35! We actually didn't even get a spot after waiting in line for 4 hours. The last spot was given to the car in front of us. Luckily for us, they couple in front...

There was no way I was paying hundreds of dollars to experience the outdoor majesty of Zion National Park. I am a firm believer that the outdoors or meant to be experienced outdoors. It is $20/night to get your campsite, but remember that you CANNOT reserve ahead of time. Here are my biggest suggestions: 1) Get there EARLY. We arrived...

I stayed at the nearby Zion Canyon RV/Campground the night before (which is nice, but it's an RV park and more expensive), so the next morning it was a short drive to get in line for the literal line-up of vehicles at South Campground. It was a Friday morning, and I arrived at 6:33am, thinking it was early. I was...

I called multiple times to try to reserve watchman campground and they told me that it was first come first serve because it was Labor Day weekend. When we got there they said no you needed a reservation. So we waited about an hour for something to open up here and I'm glad we did. The park people were awesome...

We absolutely loved Zion as a park and will return. When we do, we will either reserve a campsite at Watchman or stay in a lodge / hotel. The South campground is first come first serve. The setting is lovely but, the hosts were cranky and the campsite itself was easily the messiest we have used in over 25 nights...

First come first serve. I got in line on a Friday morning at about 6:45 and was #16 in line. Got my spot by 09:00. My intent was to be there at 05:30 but the time change got me. Staff is friendly and is volunteer, they don't have to be there, if it was a concession operation it wouldn't be...

If you didn't reserve ahead of time for Watchman Campground, you have no choice but to wait in line for South Campground because this whole campsite is first come first serve. That's what we did, got there at 3am on July 3rd. It was dark and couldn't see where the line started (since we were the 1st one there) so...

This is a good campground. It is well located, and next to the Virgin river. Since it was 108 degrees when we visited, the river was extremely appreciated and enjoyed. It is shallow, so nice for kuds, too. We could easily walk to the shuttle or small grocery. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because there are no...

We drove all the way from Las Vegas at 4am in the morning there to get a spot! Lining up for "first come, first serve" starts at 7am and depending on luck how much people will come and try to get a spot, they are usually out by noon. We decided to extend one night there because it was so...
