We went there for lunch, it was a sudden decision to celebrate "Destination Jamaisasthhi". We spent a night at mandarmoni and were thinking to get a sumptuous lunch at a place where ever one can enjoy. I tried several times yo visit Monchasa but every time I couldn't make it happen for different reasons. But last night I called Nilanjan da for lunch and he arranged it by coordinating with his staff at paushi village. Today we left mandarmoni @ 10 and reached monchasa @ 11, only 30 km from mandarmoni and easy to access. It took 2.5 hours to reach Jadavpur from there ( 142 km approx). Actually we wanted to feel the real essence of rural bengal and we are completely delightful for the dedication, conceptualization, hospitality by Nilanjan da and his team. What Lunch!!!! Gorom bhaat with ghee , goyna bori, kumro ful er bora, sobji, lau chingri, nijeder pukurer bhetki, mourola maachh, aam er chutney, misti.... Price Rs 750 per plate. Though it may sound expensive, yes it is but no one will regret to pay for the tremendous good food and fantastic hospitality. Now my honest opinion : this place is not for all. If you want to have party with DJ box, bonfire, please dont come. This ambience will not fit with them. If anyone wants to get the full essence of rural bengal, chirping of birds, a lazy evening with books and dimming light and raaga in sitar at the background then this is the right place for spending a day to two.

Around 3.5 hrs drive away from Kolkata, it is an ideal place to relax for a day. Since we travelled as a group of friends, we did not mind staying for an additional day. The huts were nicely built (not sure how eco friendly they actually are), temperature was moderate and the place was surrounded by lots of trees. Staff were very polite and helpful and food served was excellent. Cost was slightly on the upper edge. From Monchasha you can also travel to nearby beaches like Digha, Mandarmani etc. for sometime. Overall an experience to remember.

Monchasha is a really wonderful place which is situated at the village named Paushi in Purbo Medinipur. Monchasha represents a beautiful and Eco- friendly environment along with food and hospitality. In this place we can find the real meaning of the beauty of Nature as it is surrounded with a small river and the beautiful garden. It is the best place where we can spend our holidays with our family and friends. Monchasha is a quite calm tourist spot where we can enjoy our summer, winter and most beautiful Monsoon. If you want to create a colorful canvas or to create some poetical lines to decorate your dreams, you have to come Monchasha to spend few days of monsoon and few nights of full Moon. মনচাষা Monchasha can help you to grow your energy and can give a lot of oxygen to refresh your mind and heart.

Monchasha is nothing but the POWER OF LOVE. It is as true and unadulterated as heaven. The sense of purity has made me whole bit by bit. It has seeped through my all being. The touch of bamboo hut has healed my stress and the fresh organic green has uplifted my conviction. Monchasha, the place has made my meditation automatically. The power of love spreads in every corner. Its calmness and coolness is actually a therapy for increasing concentration. If anyone wants to regain his/her energy, they should stay atleast 2 nights over here. The balcony made of bamboo, must force you to drive towards your positive past and towards your childhood as well. The sun sets upon a little fishing boat that floats over the Bagda River, while you and your soul are sitting at its bank. The four balconies are so closed to the river. The full moon of Monchasha is next to Tajmahal. The night of iridescent moon sits atop the bamboo tower of Monchasha, which holds out the beauty, peace and love and thoughts ebb and flow. If Love is the religion … Monchasha is the region of that Love. It means, Monchasha is the religion of eco-tourism. Before closing, it would be sin, if I didn’t name Mithun and his wife. They are the pivot point of Monchasha. Monchasha stirs with their 24X7 cordial service. You will not get any negative nodding from them. It is needless to mention, Monchasha is the hub of traditional Bengali food which is much more delicious than so called renowned branded Bengali food restaurants available in Kolkata and Siliguri at a much lower price. Whoever has missed the traditional Bengali food of Monchasha, it is obvious that he/she has deprived their taste buds. Team Mithun have made this possible . So I step back and go away and you choose your shell for your peaceful stay within the heart of the green. I guarantee you, Love must touch you silently, sweetly, surely. I must say, you will stay forever.

Overwhelmed with the excellent service of Monchasha. This place is for those who seeks natural & peaceful stay option. Enjoy our night stay here. A perfect example of agro ecotourism. River Bagda is just 20 feet from your bed. Homemade food offered. A gem on bengal tourism map. 1. Cloth Hanger require in the bathroom. 2. The book rack should be updated with more books

My second visit. The owner here knows how to preserve the authentic culture, traditional practices of rural bengal. They try to make life more simple... Locally produces used as raw materials. Best Wishes. I have lot of experiences where tourism units destroys the destination.. but Monchasha is different. Visit is a must if you are at Bengal. Will visit again soon. Thank you.

The reviews we saw and on the basis of which we planned a trip to Monchasha didn’t turn out to be so good for us… Our stay over there makes me feel that all those reviews are cooked up… the pictures of the cottages that you see on their webpage are very old… the hay that were laid on the roofs, probably, have not been changed for ages.. The cottage walls are all bamboo with large gaps in it… specially where the roof meets the wall, it’s a gap through which a standard size animal can get into the room… The menace, at the time, when we visited the place on 24th December was the rats… those big rats were all over on the bamboo frames of the rooms.. the kids got panicked and we had a hard time to make them stay there even for that night… we took a decision to leave the place the next day even though our booking was for two days.. the next morning we realized those rats nibbled through two of the bags that had some food inside… fortunately we had shifted all other bags with foods into our cars the previous night… And when all these were happening we called one Mr Debashis… this person, supposedly, the remote manager, started preaching us about the concept of eco tourism…. And we all have it recorded… the following are few points from him.. 1) We don’t understand what eco tourism is 2) Rats are supposed to be there anyway 3) We need to explain to our children about this ecosystem and ask them not to get scared 4) They don’t use rat poisons not to hamper the ecological balance Our Answer was 1) You need to at least secure the rooms where you are sleeping at night 2) A localite said the pesticides are used regularly. Hence Debashis’s version on the usage of pesticide is wrong. It was somehow not used for some period. 3) This is not a no-profit, environment friendly org kind of thing, hence, you should listen to the visitors if they have any issue and try to resolve it 4) No letter to Mr Debashis would help because it would fall into the deaf ears of his employers, who entrusted him to behave uncourteously with the customers 5) Had it not been winter they would have even said the snakes were also supposed to be there. Anyways, we left the next day… we didn’t get any refund as they took the entire payment (including food bills – 5 days before the trip) upfront. Another surprise that we had the same morning was the drivers’ dormitory. It was very untidy and the toilet beside it was completely soiled and it didn’t have any water supply to it. As per them that is an emergency toilet. Only after we complained they cleaned the toilet and put some buckets of water there. We would never think of visiting this place again, not even in our dreams.

Food: - Great People at Service: - Awesome It was the poorest experience we have ever had (11 people, booked 3 rooms, for 24th & 25th Dec, 2020). We left the place on 25th Dec, noon. In crisp, here are our problems: 1. Driver’s toilet was without water and totally uncleansed — not in a position for an overnight stay 2. Our room’s toilet was soiled with water as it was leaking from a broken joint — with a temporary fix. 3. Just after dusk, big rodents were playing in the living room, leaving our children panic-stricken and just quarantined on bed. As a result, 2 bags were found with holes in the morning. We left just after first night. 4. Dumb-headed manager Mr. Debasish — instead of sorting out above-mentioned issues, he was trying to define Eco-tourism definition to us. We all know Service paid is service committed. If this type of ill-behaving continues it would be hard impact on your business.
