The Landing Hotel offers a full range of accommodations. Our most affordable option is a bed in one of two dorms that each sleep seven guests (there is one full size bed and five individual beds per dorm). There are ample toilet and shower facilities around the corner from the dorms. We offer four rooms with private baths and a balcony providing comfortable seating for a sweeping view of the active volcano, Conception. We have an apartment, or family room that sleeps 4-5 with private bath. All rooms have fans. There is also a secluded cabin in the garden with a seating area, AC, queen bed, and private bath. We have designed the hotel to afford you the privacy you may be looking for or the opportunity to mingle with guests from all over the world. Our decor will immediately set you at ease and you will find we have some of the most comfortable seating on the island. Our hotel is the most conveniently located just a few meters from the dock on the left. When you arrive tired from the boat after a long day of travel, you don't have to walk far or search for The Landing Hotel!

We were one of a few guests staying in the hostel at this time of the year. The owner of the Mexican restaurant told us that people used to beg to stay there as it was fully booked out a couple of years ago. I felt bad that the tourism of Nicaragua is suffering, but this also meant that it was a very relaxing stay for us and we had the whole dorm to ourselves.

The man at reception (don’t know his name) was always very friendly and considerate. He referred us to a scooter rental (Green Expeditions) who were very good as well.

The hostel had plenty of places to relax, and a nice upstairs terrace with hammocks to watch the sunset.

Definitely recommend this place based on location (1 minute walk from the ferry) and close proximity to services you may need e.g. restaurants, ATMs, scooter rental, ferry, supermarket

We didn't really know what to initially expect from Ometepe, so we decided to stay in Moyogalpa for five nights. The Landing Hotel was a great base for island excursions. The place was quiet, calm and clean. The staff were really helpful too👌

The name is really quite fitting as this place is found 1 minutes walk from the ferry landing. It is a great place that offers free water, coffee and fruit. The staff are very friendly and sociable and the rooms are spacious and clean. The hotel is almost empty and if that is something that you like then this is a perfect quiet spot for you.

I stayed here over a year ago, thought it looked safe and better than other places you see around this area and very close to the ferry, i stayed down stairs i think in room 1, wifi was always on and off but what do you expect when your on a island, showers and toilets always seem to be clean. however i had a skirt and top stolen out of my luggage bag while i stayed there and also my sd card was stolen out of my camera i was never given a key to my room none offered to give me a key i also found out while i was staying there that items have been stolen from other tourist. it was over priced and never anyone around to make food seeing they have a kitchen.

Unfortunately, TripAdvisor does not offer enough options for owners to deal with fake reviews. I have asked the writer of this review on three separate occasions to verify the dates of her "stay" with us a year ago and the name she was registered under. I have not received any verification that this person ever stayed at the Landing Hotel and find the claims in her review to be without any merit whatsoever. Please understand that we are not a perfect hotel. However, we do our absolute best to make certain that our guests have a great experience here on the island. It is deeply offensive when a person uses a website (that is meant to help the traveling public get the best value for their money) to try and purposely harm a competitor. There are a couple of new reviews of the Landing Hotel that were posted this month that are very suspicious. I would like to get to the bottom of this as it actually started earlier in the year. My recommendation to TripAdvisor is when a "guest" leaves a comment, especially a very negative and damaging review, if they do not respond to the hotel's legitimate efforts to investigate the claims in the review (starting with verification that the writer actually stayed in the hotel), the review should be removed---no further questions asked. TripAdvisor makes it impossible to communicate directly with one of their employees as part of owner support. I hope that this can change as they are providing a valuable service---so long as the reviews are legitimate!

It's convenient, as it's right off the dock and it's fairly inexpensive, but I wouldn't be back. It made a good first impression, appeared clean, secure, etc. but there is a pretty serious bug issue. Don't get me wrong, I am familiar with Nicaragua, it's not unusual for there to be occassuibal bugs, etc. in rooms but this was WAY more than normal. We were planning on a couple night but left after one as both I and my traveling companion woke up covered in bites the next morning. In addition to the bugs it is really, really noisy. Perhaps it's a price to pay being on the main drag but the music playing near by was so loud we thought it was playing inside the hostel. We understood the local disco was closed so not sure what was going on.

There are quite a number spots on the island to stay that are a better value and cleaner. Some nice spots in Santo Domingo or, if staying in Moyogalpa would try Hostel Soma or the Cornerhouse.

Thanks for staying with us and I am very sorry that your stay was unpleasant. Here at the Landing we have a variety of choices to fit every budget---from big, comfortable hammocks for $5/night to an air conditioned cabin (with a queen size bed) surrounded by our tropical garden for $40/night. You choose our most affordable option and stayed in our hammocks on the second floor in the open air. It's too bad that you neither told us that you were having a problem with mosquitoes so that our night guard could give you some repellent spray nor had some spray in your back pack. As for noise, during the Christmas holiday there are many celebrations throughout the country, including here in Moyogalpa. I'm very sorry that these celebrations disturbed your sleep. And yes, Mjoyogalpa offers a wonderful variety of affordable hotels. including the Landing and the others that you mentioned in you comment. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your holiday here in Nicaragua and we look forward to seeing you here on the island during your next visit! We appreciate your taking the time to write us a review on TripAdvisor.

What a great hostel! My friend and I stayed there about two weeks ago and had a fantastic time. We stayed in the dorms which were clean and organized. We each had locker spaces and i was given a large bed to myself which was lovely.

All of the staff that we interacted with were nice, friendly, and helpful. Juan checked us in and Guillen and Winston helped us through our stay...our most memorable experience being a HUGE rainstorm that swept rain through the hoste!! Awesome storm but not so great for the staff. Guillen and Winston handled it like pros and made sure we were all comfortable and all of our things were protected. Once the water was under control they stopped what they were doing to fix a small leak in our room so we were all comfortable and happy in our space.

The hostel itself feels more like a hotel. Beautiful outdoor and common spaces, and awesome hammock decks (with views of the volcano!!).

And PERFECT value.

We had an incredible time on Ometepe and The Landing was definitely a part of that.

Thank you guys! Everything was perfect : ).

I was very impressed with the common areas. Absolutely beautiful, relaxing and simply inviting.

But the private rooms are old, dirty and need renovations. Our bathroom wasn't clean at all. It was absolutely dirty. We arrived late, so the next morning I asked politely to clean our bathroom. The housekeeper, said: yes. However, when we came back later that evening, room was the same.

I doubt that mattress sheet was changed as well, since top sheets and pillow covers we received later. Also, floor and top bunk bed were full of tiny ants.

Thanks for taking the time to review our hotel! Our policy is to first confirm a writer's registered name and dates of stay so that we can investigate their comments and take corrective action. I have asked you on three occasions to send this information and you have refused. Our hotel has been the target of a negative campaign that we believe is being instigated by our competition to drive down our Trip Advisor rating. We feel very strongly that any reviewer who has written a negative review about a hotel should be obligated to respond to the hotel's request for additional information or risk having their negative comments removed by TripAdvisor. When you look at our generally excellent ratings and suddenly see several in a row that are not complimentary, it does raise suspicion---especially because the writers of these reviews have refused our repeated attempts to confirm their occupancy. We do our best to offer the budget traveler an excellent value for a fair price, but we are not perfect. Our staff is very friendly and we are proud of our customer centered service. Our location can't be beat--less than a one minute walk from the ferry landing. Our garden is one of the nicest in town and we have several spacious areas for our guests to relax and enjoy this secluded tropical island. True, our rooms are not very spacious and the amenities in the room reflect those of a budget hotel. However, our guests spend most of their time out of their room touring the island or enjoying a tropical beverage in our common areas or garden, our free wifi, our small gym area, and the lake and volcano views from our open air lounge. When you write a negative review, please understand the damage that you can do---especially to a small hotel. If you have a problem, first ask to speak with the hotel's owner or manager. Any hotel should be given the opportunity to correct a problem before you use the internet to criticize. Trip Advisor is a valuable tool for the traveling public, but it can also be used by competitors to drive down the competition.

Most people aren't going to stay in Moyogalpa for more than a night or two. All of the best hostels are outside of Moyogalpa. That being said, The Landing Hotel is your best bet for a hostel in Moyogalpa. Only 100 meters or so from the dock. Great for those mornings when you want to get up and catch the 6 AM ferry. For a Nica hostel, The Landing Hotel is incredibly clean and well kept. The staff is great. One of the bartenders is fluent in English and French, and the other bartender is working his hardest on improving his English. Great chill area upstairs with hammocks and chairs. Free wifi and a killer atmosphere. Definitely recommended.

Literally 30 metres from the dock, so you don't have far to walk when you arrive. The private rooms are concrete and actual buildings so there's a very low chance of being disturbed by bugs.

Good distance to restaurants and the supermarket and the staff are very amenable.

There's also some fantastic common areas to sit, drink and be merry.

He's pretty good about answering, you'll get a response within a few days from the owner :) Just be careful with your dates and where it is you're coming from. Sundays are terrible re:ferry and banks/atms. Make sure you do your research! Ometepe Island is gorgeous though!
