We loved staying at Casa Moreno during our weekend trip to Ometepe! The rooms were clean and nice. The rooms we were in had fans, no ac. They made us breakfast in the morning, a typical nica breakfast of plantains, eggs, and gallo pinto. The location is in a good spot, about a 5 minute walk to the center of Mayagalpa. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We loved staying here!

I moved to Casa Moreno from La Punta resort. We were 2 females traveling from Boston Absolutely nice and welcoming place, 5-10 minute walk to ferry, restaurants etc. and easy accessibility.

The staff is friendly and a few folks here do speak English. They helped us to get around places, hiring taxi, recommendations etc. And the Wi-Fi works perfectly fine in rooms and common areas.

If I come back to Ometepe, this is the only place I want to stay in . La Punta was an absolute nightmare and it has no connectivity to the city centre.

Thank you Casa Moreno for making my stay so convenient!

This is my third visit to Casa Moreno. When I walked in the door, they not only recognized me from the year before, but also brought forth a cane I had left there. They had saved it for me.

I took a private room this time. It was very comfortable and clean. As a 70 year old with a cane, I can no longer deal with a top bunk in a dormitory. The free morning coffee is a treat, the hammocks classic and comfy, and the roof observation deck gives one a magnificent view of both Moyogalpa and Volcan Concepcion.

Downtown is only a few blocks away, and there are many choices in bars and restaurants.

For myself, I see no reason to consider another hostel while in Moyogalpa.

This is not worth the money, even if it's not expensive. We went here because other reviews indicated it was an ok hotel for a short stay. However, is is NOT. The owner is very unfriendly and doesn't care.

Second, the room is cramped and extremely hot. When I tried to explain this to the owner he said "so what". We had to pay 10 dollars extra for the AC which didn't even really worked. Next day he tried to scam us by telling Booking.com we were a no-show.. Really, go somewhere else. There are many other cheap places that are better value.

We stayed there because we didn't have so much choice. We booked a room with 3 beds but only one was made because we said we were two. The owner is not really there all the time which can be hard when you need him... The room was clean but tiny. The hotel is not in the center of Mogoyalpa but 5mn of walking will take you to the main street. Try to organize yourself your excursions because what the hotel offer in term of price is ridiculous. I won't say more than that. If you can, stay somewhere else.

Spent 3 nights here and very glad we did.

We had a non AC room and it was fine as there were fans. I was a bit worried about opening windows due to mosquitoes but that wasn't an issue at all as there were none to be found! Rooms were clean and staff were GREAT! Love the VERY cold beers available for 30C, so cheap and convenient! What I love most about this place were the communal areas. Namely the balcony on the 2nd floor overlooking the neighbourhood (I LOVED the rural vibe seeing cattle and horses passing by) and the great rood top area with a brilliant view of vulcan Concepción. We met some awesome folks there and pretty much every evening we'd be up there socializing.

Coffee in the morning was great (I never had their bread) and if you want real milk you can purchase it a 1/2 block away at the bakery and store it in the communal kitchen.

They have secure parking so if you rent a bike for several days you can simply park it at the hotel and not have to return it to the rental place (rent from Elmer's!).

Only small complaint was the water pressure, sometimes it was hard to shower. I have no complaints about no hot water as you really don't need it.

And finally, the price cannot be beaten!!

I truly loved it.

We stayed there for two nights, the rooms were clean, the staff was super friendly and costumer service oriented, they don't have restaurant, but they gave us a map with things to do, and where to eat, and were ready to answer questions and gives us directions, bus stops,etc... If you need to go to ometepe this is a good option, and it is very affordable.

This place has boundless potential. The beds were some of the most comfortable we slept on during our seven months of travel, the room was spacious and affordable and the view absolutely breathtaking. But, then there were the cockroaches, the half-finished bathroom, and the dirt. Maybe it was just our room; our neighbors did not mention a thing. Regardless, it is just plain sad to see what could be, namely a tranquil oasis where people keep extending because they don't want to leave, instead of what is: a pretty facade with little to support it.

Casa Moreno made our stay relaxing and wonderful in Ometepe. The rooms are huge, clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed hanging around the balcony looking at the amazing views of the volcano. Very lovely place and a great choice to do the volcano hike. We wished we could stay longer.
