Always one of my favorite spots to take family and friends visiting -even if it's just for tea and cake, doesn't always have to be a huge meal. Beautiful gardens to stroll in or perfect for a picnic. Food will never disappoint.

Such a relaxed environment to have lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Pity the service is slow but the place is beautiful. The rooms are specious and clean and the reception staff is very helpful. The costs are quite reasonable.

Has so much more potential to add to the beautiful gardens and setting. Noisy staff in dinning room, with one waiter chewing gum! Reception was cool .... rooms big and spacious, but lighting totally inadequate in which to do some work.

This is our second stay at Makaranga Lodge (previous stay in May'15) and we have found the experience even better this time. The sumptuous setting and beautiful decor is as before but food and service is definitely improved from "okay" to "outstanding". Despite being overwhelmed with festive guests (Makaranga seems to be THE place to hang out with friends and...

We had a delihtful lunch. My wife had fillet speak with a bearnais sausage and I had rump. It was perfect. The food was cooked just as we like it. Very tasty. The waiters were friendly and effecient. And the walk in the garden was an excellent end to a wonderful visit.

I was invited to a business breakfast at the restaurant - it was lovely. The food was delicious. The service a bit slow but they were very pleasant. The gardens looked spectacular, I wish I had had the time to walk around them. It certainly looks like a lovely place to visit with the family and the prefect place for...

I travel constantly in my work and I this is my favourite stay. Not the typical hotel atmosphere but homely and alive. Residential neighbours visit the nice restaurant frequently which gives improvrs the atmosphere.

I am so tired of bad service at this excellent establishment. I regularly have business meetings here and am met embarrassingly with poor service and badly trained waiters. But today was the pits. When I walked in for a very wet day at 11:30, I asked for a table so We could have a quick hot chocolate before heading home....

I wasn't expecting this! Stayed just 1 night on a business trip. Not only was the room very comfortable (so was the bed), but the lodge is situated in the middle of stunning gardens. The breakfast was excellent - and so was the friendly service. This was a great discovery and I highly recommend it!

This hotel/restaurant is set within beautiful and very big gardens. They are well kept and there is a nice pool. The room I stayed was also very big. This is classified as a boutique hotel but some of the furniture is kind of 'poor scic', rather than researched and expensive. Service is just OK. I agreed with the man at...
